This manga is the prime example of blowing your load too early on. Not to say i enjoy reading edgy manga but they could have really dragged on the whole rape side plot a lot longer than they did. I guess Berserk. It used to be great, but the boat was like the final straw. It might have been going down hill before it got to that point, but everything after that was pure shit.

I stopped caring about Sidonia in any serious way a long time before the end, so all the cliche shit, contrived asspulls and lack of fucks given by Nihei only mildly amused me. By 3/4 of the way through the only thing I cared about was mai Captain surviving the end.

Looking back at it the manga was a classic case of good premise but poor planning and terrible execution, a good editor would have sorted that mess out back when the manga was still good.
