It was new year night - so, Aria the Avvenire is my first ainme 2016. I was drinking whisky and enjoying this story. When I saw Neo Venezia again, I almost cried. My city of dream, perfect place for me.

Very frustrating, too short.

I got overly emotional anyway since i've never rewatched Aria after completing it the first time three years ago. I missed Neo-Venezia so much that right when I saw the water at the very beginning of the OVA I started crying a little bit.

Ever since watching the new OVA I've had an uncomfortable feeling I haven't had since finishing Origination. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but seeing everyone grown up like that makes me incredibly uncomfortable.

My goodness, the commentary (with Alicia, Akira and Akari's voice actors) was comfy.
Remember to switch to the commentary audio track for your rewatch.

I'm just gonna say it.

I always hated the voices of the cats especially President Aria, I liked him in the manga but the voice ruined him. I also never liked Aika from the way she treats Akari, even if it is meant to be in a teasing way, I still didn't like it and her catchphrase wears of pretty fast. Same with Alice, she's to autistic and the way she brushes of poor Athena who clearly wants to be her firend in the beginning. Don't get me started on that episode with the left hand or something. Akatsuki too was boring, would have been nice if he'd have gotten a bit more character to him.

I love ARIA but those things I never liked.

I was sometimes annoyed by Aika's catchphrase too, and by Alice's autism. Akari is the true miracle of the universe for me.

I'm not sure I want it to happen. We'll never ever get an ending as satisfying as what we had. I was most amazed by the simple fact that it's Aria in HD.

The story was nothing new besides a few glimpses of the Ai generation, but it was wonderful nontheless. Absolutely cannot wait for the next episodes.

I always loved them. They help make the emotional bits more integrated with the rest of the show so to speak. So it doesn't get too serious and kind of helps them maintain their character.

Going by the series, the best bet for ARIA Company's location would be somewhere on the Riva degli Schiavoni. You can't miss it, it's the major waterside 'road' leading from the Palazzo Ducale all the way down the southern edge of the city.

There's no house there, but it's a damn nice walk. Takes you all the way to Castello from San Marco, meaning fewer crowds and the sight of the impressive Arsenale.

The Avvenire supports this - although, take a look at this screenshot. It seems like the church on San Giorgio Maggiore appears twice...

Regarding timeframes in this series, do they measure the years in mars or earth years? Its a bit confusing. For instance, alicia is like 19 at the start of the series but she looks mid 20s. And by the end it would either be 3 or 6 years respectively. Also, whens the ova meant to take place. Akari looks a good 7-8 years older and ai looks the same as she did in origination.

So, just so you guys don't keep digging this hole. Seasons happen because of the angle of incidence of a given hemisphere to the orbital plane. That's why it's summer in Australia when it's winter up here.

Mars seasons would be 1/4 it's orbital period. So twice as long as earth's, with 4 seasons per year.

I just started rewatching ARIA the first episode and I gotta say Ai is a brat.

I was worried going back to Aria would be hollow since Tamayura was dull, but the magic was still there.

Does Tamayura pick up? Was about 4 episodes in + the prequel ova.

It went on too long IMHO. The OVAs were great, and Hitotose was alright, but in the end it's just another four-girl CGDCT without the magical setting and understated execution of Aria.

On the other hand, I certainly don't begrudge that Tamayura has apparently done very well for itself, since it hopefully means more iyashikei anime.

For me personally, part of the problem was with the characters themselves. For whatever reason they just didn't resonate with me like with Aria, or other CGDCT like Sketchbook or NNB. Fot iyashikei to really work for me I need to have that investment so that the emotional moments have the power to move me, which wasn't the case with Tamayura.

That's not to say I didn't enjoy watching it - it was still a nice show, but middle of the road and ultimately fairly forgettable.

On a sidenote, how do we make Mars have more sunlight? Mars desperately needs more energy on its surface. I was pondering that question a bit earlier and thought about some giant lens in space that focuses more sunlight to Mars. It had to be in a synchronized orbit with Mars though yet closer to the sun, so it wouldn't have a stable orbit. Maybe a small black hole that works as a gravitational lens would work.
