Is this an accurate depiction of a young woman from Finland?
Nice to see the ebin mongol maymay is still alive. :^)
Not quite sure what gave birth to this Mongol thing.
The first paragraph of the culture part is amazing, sure would love to live that shit, minus the animal cruelty.
no, but I sure wish it was
Sure, they've only conquered the greatest landmass in history in record speed after all.
/int/,plz. /a/ is for elitist gentlemen who are into a hobby that is for pure white wizardry gentlemen. everyone else should go back to /v/ and apologise for obama!
i bet you even watch streaming video!
Falsely attributed by inferior britbongs to belittle historic achievement of others. You know, like amerifats are doing to france by incessently reminding them of their ww2 loss to germany despite them having the historically best war-results.
>not knowing that Finland and Sweden are different countries
Keep it up, Patriots.
Elves schlicking in the heat of battle should be more common.
Anime always portrays the Finnish impeccably.
>Not quite sure what gave birth to this Mongol thing.
europe is currently being overran by dark skinned muslims and their governments are pretending this is a good thing. Think united states and mexicans, but in europe's case it's subsarahan africans and mongloids from asian countries like pakistan.
No, that's not it. Back in the old days when eugenics were still mainstream the Anglo master race tried to prove that the Finns were Mongols and therefore not white, like how the Irish or the Poles or the Greeks or the Italians were subhumans.
Always believe what anime tells you.
So why do Japs think Finns are lesbians?
Technically has to do with the fact that linguistically, Finnish is a part of the Uralic language group which was once theorized to be related with the Altaic languages, which include Mongolian. Linguistics used to be a pretty big deal in popular academia back in the past more than now, I think.
They recently uncovered a person from karelia(the part of Finland owned by Russia) dating back from 5000bc and he was a typical european so it remains to be seen just how the Uralic language became native to both finns and the siberians
Sure, but remember that she's a fennoswede. Her ancestors were most likely swedish.
Yeah, I love the finnish One Piece translation.
The celestial dragons' speech is filled with 'å', which is a Swedish letter, and finns associate that with fennoswedes who are snobs and 'bättre folk'. Since celestial dragons are complete assholes, the translation fuels that image. I love how inapropriate that is.
I recently bought azumanga in finnish, and even some of the dull jokes are a riot in finnish. Since that I decided I'll read everything in finnish if possible.
Finnish are always appropriate
It's an inside joke. The fennoswedes consider themselves to be better than the commoners because even though they're Finnish, they speak Swedish. The law dictates that ALL Finnish public servants HAVE TO be able to speak fluent Swedish. There are places in Finland where you can't get any kind of service in Finnish.
The best part? The Swedish speaking minority is 5.5% of the population, concentrated entirely in the south-west.
Well I'll find out soon enough.
Less than Swedes I'd say.
Finnish strip comic. The text says 'soap from a free jew'.
>you're not discussing anime
This indeed a problem. Let's talk about Valmet, and why the author of Jormungand thought it was a good idea to name her after a company.
China was a superpower though.
Yeah, I think I like manga a lot more in Finnish than in English. I guess it helps that it's my native language, but I think Finnish sounds a lot cuter than English so it works better in manga with cute girls.
Gunnm was pretty good in Finnish too.
But unlike the Roman Empire, it underwent several period of unification and disintegration. The situation in 13th century China was fractured, but not fractured into many tiny kingdoms, but between 2 large empires and one smaller but still a formidable kingdomg. Please stop talking about history you clearly have little knowledge of.
Yotsuba was my first finnish manga, and afterwards I got into it in english as the finnish translation wasn't very far. It lacked something in english. I wonder how bad it feels that english person can never read anything in glorious finnish. They don't even know what they are missing.
All roads lead to Rome anon. /a/ is no different.
>Luvia will never teach you the 500 ways to conjugate a word in Finnish
Let's talk Moomins. Who here is still scared of the Groke?
Here I thought this would turn into a Fate thread.
Let's make it one anyway!
>Believing lies about Finnish
Nice try, Finn.
I am from Finland and there is no Luvia or Sako here. All here is are 3dpd women, snow, cold, Daiz trying to kill anime and more fucking snow.
IT IS COLD AS FUCK.
I hate it here I want to leave.
>I think in many circles this could be considered some sort of disgrace
That female version wouldn't be?
I'm super cereal, check wikipedia! Finnish ain't that hard! There's nothing to it!
>cold as fuck
No it isn't. It's not even freezing.
Alexander destroyed persia, Arabia pretty much settled on the same spot and this time Tsingis came knocking.
Pretty sure no other civilization was as domination oriented as mongols, they came, they took, and they kept on going. Kinda like the Huns but just on a bit wider scale.
Norfag here. My previous roommate was Finnish. They are like a strange crossbreed between Scandinavians, and Russians.
There certainly have blondes, but black hair is a lot more common, compared to Scandinavians at least. And I think they die if they don't get in a sauna periodically. The guys family, and all their Finnish friends in Norway owned saunas here, and that is not common.
They also love fish and vodka, and follow the Scandinavian tradition of drinking til you are smashed.
Face your fears laddie.
>they die if they don't get in a sauna periodically
It's only a spiritual death. The body lives on, but it won't be worth it.
Voehan se niinnii olla vuan voehan se olla olemattakkii.
Really? Also there's this, which is kinda neat I guess. I don't know if these guys are nor but I think I read from somewhere they were
There is a reason why Finns study that shit for 12 years and still can't write for shit.
It is a beautiful language in the sense that you can describe pretty much every single thing using it thanks to its complexity.
Ancient Turkic people and Mongols were pretty much the same shit
It's a synonym for downie because people wanted to turn a name for their race into an offensive word.
Mongoloid provides additional clarity, as it's the name for the race. Asians are either Mongoloids or people living in Asia. There are Caucasians and Negros that were born and raised in Asia, you can't deny they are Asians, but that doesn't mean they're mongoloids.
Around Finns, always carry a knife.
No they're not. They're distinct ethnicities, one with roots in the Western Eurasian steppe, the other at the Eastern side. They're similar in broad strokes due to nomadic migrations and turkic empires, but calling them same is like saying all Europeans are same or all latinos are the same shit.
I don't think you can find a country in the world that has fond thoughts about its former "conquerors", though don't think that there was much of a nation to conquer for swedes so perhaps it would be more accurate to call them our founding fathers?
So this finnish hate of sweden is just a puberty phase of a barely over a century old nation?
Holy shit that was amazing. I wish finnish music was actually that cool.
it's more like some hicks take the hockey rivalry too seriously, and some "father land's defenders" who cry about Sweden not directly intervening in Winter War.
Nobody really talks about the Swedish era
It is as >>121357917 said, sure they were both steppe nomads but the eastern steppe gained much influence from china where as the western steppe was much influenced by turkic civilizations.
I have an anthropology major friend who I asked this about. Caucasian, negroid, mongoloid, etc. just seem to all be nomenclature throwbacks that nobody's really gotten around to PC-ing since it works well for bone identification and anthropology is as boring as geology for people not actively associated with the field (thus safe from butthurt).
Well, they could've just tried googling "Finnish Justin Bieber"!
Speaking of which, doing just that lead me to a Stormfront forum thread titled "Robin; The Finnish "Justin Bieber" A hidden tool to brainwash white young finnish girls."
That's true, but... there's really not much to talk about from back in the olden days. Finns had lots of forts and shit but I haven't got a clue who we fought, when and what for.
Not even the magician would tap that.
It is pretty metal as far as floklore goes. Considering the times, strong females characters were sort of strange. Also I very much liked the fact every character was somewhat unlikable and even the "protagonist" is somewhat morally shady dude. I don't know what it tells about Finland though.
Why doesn't Luvia use her magic to help Finland reclaim Karelia?
He didn't force her, he wanted to marry her and she didn't want to marry him, so she drowned herself. Väinämlinen cried about it for three days.
They always took three days to anything.
>No anime adaptation set in a world where Finland conquered the Soviets
The digimon one was fucking beast. I can't believe I watched it dubbed as kid. My father was always laughing. I understand now it all.
Why are people confusing Finland with Sweden?
Anyone has that Polandball of Finland and Sweden?
You guys know that pre-world war image of German was and stupid farmer? I'm still surprised the scars of war have changed the entire view of the country to aggressive workers, even though it seems more like a exception in history.
She has the experience that Tohsaka Rin lacks!
I play a game with a finnish girl
i dont know what she looks like
she's so nice
she has a boyfriend
It's Rin's destiny to become Luvia's maid.
How did Luvia survive without a sauna in Japan?
