GER wasn't an asspull.

The arrow was shown to grant additional powers all the way in Part 4, with Kira.

It was also shown to create requiem stands with Silver Chariot previously.

GER was just bullshit garbage writing because it's just ridiculously OP and has no restrictions, but it's not an asspull.

Except it didn't. It just gave him generic OP powers. He just applied those powers to specifically counter KC, not the other way around.

Besides even if it was specifically tailored to counter King Crimson, it still wouldn't be an asspull.
Otherwise, getting powers as a whole would be an asspull. Stands, hamon, a random nigger being able to punch, everything. They're all shit that comes out of nowhere.

GER is shit writing, but it's not an asspull.

But it was already established that for the second time the arrow would give the Stand user what they needed most at the moment. Such as Kira getting the ability that made it so he could live a quiet life while also killing.

Everything past Death City Robo was kind of a letdown. That scene in particular didn't feel like too much of an asspull, as much as the writers looking at the original FMA series, thinking 'we can do that' and not actually managing it.
