What are you watching from this group and what do you think of it?
>>
how good is Galaxy Express 999?
>>
>60s
Nothing.

>70s
Ganba no Boken. It's beautiful, and I'm doing my best to understand it.

>80s
Urursei Yatsura. Already read the manga and seen Beautiful Dreamer, but I've been putting this off. 10/10

>early 90s
Cyber City. Haven't started it.
>>

Not my favorite of the Matsumoto creations, but worth a watch. I preferred Harlock and Emeraldas.
>>
>>121208564
It's good

2 episodes into Bubblegum Crisis, like the look of it.

Currently watching The Heroic Legend of Arslan. Hope the remake coming out soon will be good.

Fuck, I think I have a thing for effeminate male protaganists with long hair.
>>
>>121208824
I think you'll enjoy it. The 2040 television series is suxass compared to the OVAs though. Original Nene is best Nene.
>>
>>121208564
I finished it recently. I thought it was amazing, but some of the episodes are kind of boring. A good half of series uses the same, "opps, lost muh pass again" or "Tetsuro, don't become cyborg". Otherwise it has a lot of really great moments.

I just finished Ace wo Narae. It was kinda slow in the beginning, and was basically man faced bitches: the anime, but really enjoyed it towards the end when they have their special tennis camp.

I'm around 20 episodes in and enjoying it plenty. I haven't watched much other 70s anime but I think it looks great.

I want to watch it because those character designs are qt as fuck, but I watched the first episode and it didn't really hook me at all.
>>
If you're including 90s then I finished Gasaraki recently. Holy shit what an ending. What are people's opinions on this, I rarely see it mentioned anywhere but I really liked it.
>>
>>121209279
Keep going. Also, I think they have some darker toned OVAs that accompany the originals; I remember watching them. They focus on the AD Police and some prior incidents that take place before the events of BubbleGum Crisis.

Am I a bad person for wishing I still had my VHS copy of this butchered dub?

Because if I did, this what I'd be watching now. Seen this so many times...
>>
>>121209216
Wait was it always 666 rather than 999? Why are Japanese such occultists?
>>
>>121209381
A lot of people (including me) get turned off by the weird ass noh theatre early eps

>using Arakawa's art

Yeah sure. For newfag. I still prefer Yoshitaka Amano's art.

There's more than one train.

Watched Cutie Honey recently, it was kinda weird. Oddly violent at times and a lot of the choreography action sequence didn't make any sense. Love that 70s music though.
>>
I recently watched Beautiful Dreamer. It was amazing. Don't even know how, but Oshii got me freaked out about endless repeating corridors appearing in real life.
>>
>>121209485
Is it bad that I dropped this about halfway through?
I just couldn't get myself to care anymore.
>>
>>121209443
It's a different train. The joke is that one is normally full while the 999 is always very empty.

>>121209191
I started reading the manga a few days ago but it's only translated up to chapter 9. Weird considering how popular it is. Someone said to watch the movie because the anime is just the same old recycled plot over and over, which I pretty much got a glimpse of in the few chapters of the manga I read. Haven't gotten around to watching either yet.

>>121209505
I hope you didn't watch the BD.

I couldn't get into it either.

>I hope you didn't watch the BD
Why? Some joke about beautiful dreamer and BD as its acronym?
>>
>>121208456
>60s
6 titles watched. Kitaro movie was kinda good.
>70s
36 titles watched. Favourite ones are Ace wo nerae, GE999 and Rose of Versailles. Currently I'm watching Takarajima and it's beautiful.
>80s
137 titles watched
>early 90s
I'm currently watching You're under arrest TV. It's good, but some episodes are meh tier.
>>
>>121209537
>Someone said to watch the movie because the anime is just the same old recycled plot over and over
It is. I'm sure if you looked around the internet someone's compiled a list of the more quintessential episodes so you still get a feel for the show while not wasting hours and hours. I haven't seen any of the movies yet.
>>
>>121209631
Like half of the screen is cropped out.
You're honestly missing about half the movie if you watch the BD.
>>
Urursei Yatsura
Slam Dunk
>>
>>121209512

Nah I can kinda understand that, I don't think it aged particularly well myself. I do think watching it did make me enjoy Re: Cutie Honey a lot more though.
>>
>>121209537
>The joke is that one is normally full while the 999 is always very empty.
Shouldn't GE999 be 777 then? Going by Jewish mysticism anyway.
>>
>>121209670
So who's responsible for that fuck up?
>>
>>121209715
The numbers are upside down.
It's just a little joke anon.
>>
>>121209743
B-b-ut muh symbolism!

I'm looking for Eva in all the wrong places
>>
>>121209740
Some people think widescreen makes things better.
>>
>>121209740
Toho.
>>
I'm about 2/3 through SDF. Max is not only moe, but has managed to come closer to scoring in one episode of knowing a woman than Hikaru has with two of them in 24 episodes.

>>121209467
>weird ass noh theatre early eps

Picked the fuck up.
