The Shihouin family crest reflects the meaning of their name (four maple trees temple/court yard) in the rectangular knot pattern and the four maple leaves. But it also encircles a crescent moon, which could tie back to other bleach moon iconography, but more immediately represents "night" which is at this point officially a motif of the shihouin family: Yoru-Ichi, and Yuu-Shi(rou) are written with the kanji for "Night-One", and "Night-Four." Under different circumstances these implications of a deeper history or role could be hand waved as little worldbuilding hooks not meant to be followed up on, but we also know the Shihouin family's sacred relics are set to play a role in this finale somehow. This then begs the question, what about nights 2 and 3?

It's not so much 'what' they're planning, but 'why'; or more specifically, their motivations.

Shunsui tends to be morally grey and there's an entire subplot missing in regards to his floral robe. 'Loss' seems to be a recurring motif, and he has a character song which seems to allude to something along the lines of having his heart broken. 'Por Una Cabesa', if anyone's interested.

Ukitake on the other hand tends to be neutral good, but honor is also in play as seen in his Kaien/Rukai flashback. Also he was the main player behind Ginjou and the Sub Shinigami badge.

I feel like between the two of them, we get a delicate power balance which could tip in two directions; either they wish to maintain the status quo, or they are bending it for an unspecified goal. I feel like they're vying for a third option in between the extremes presented by Aizen and Yhwach in what direction to take Soul Society into the future.

speaking of names, there is some weird unaccounted for shenanigans going on with the 7th division. We all know that Komamura's lieutenant is Iba Tetsuzaemon (射場 鉄左衛門) but in the databook covering the turnback the pendulum side story we're told that Aikawa Love's lieutenant 110 years ago was a man named Kotsubaki Jin'emon (小椿 刃右衛門) who happens to be the father of Kotsubaki Sentarou, one of Ukitake's two 3rd seat officers. The two 7th division lieutenants' given names, Tetsuzaimon 鉄左衛門, and Jin'emon刃右衛門 are written as "Iron Left Defense Gate," and "Blade Right Defense Gate." But they are, as far as we can tell, unrelated in spite of clearly associated names.

the Ishida (石田:Stone Field) family have a kind of domino/front-end matching chain going on from father to son.
Souken (宗弦:School String) shares the "string" with Ryuuken(竜弦:Dragon String) shares the "dragon" with Uryuu (雨竜 Rain Dragon)

A water dragon is mythically a rain bringer archetype and thus a good omen and sign of fertility. A "Stone Field" is an image or idiom associated with a barren field. Uryuu being the dragon to bring rain to a barren field reflected his initial role upon introduction as the last in his line, thus the one on whom all potential for future growth relied. Kubo emphasized this name when he had Ichigo mispronounce it the first time it came up as Ametatsu, the alternate reading of the kanji for Rain and Dragon.

Less open ended but a fun reminder that Kubo's been at this tricky kanji game from the start. Not the least of which was Ichigo's various puns about 15, strawberry, and "1 Protector".

This power to change and acquire strength because of what the Heart desires is something that all Bleach characters have; but it is something deeply ingrained into the existence of Arrancars/Hollows as they are beings who lost what they cherished most before they died.

A little different sort of name play, Yamada Hanatarou(山田 花太郎) has a name in which the meaning of the kanji is irrelevant. Literally it would mean Mountain Field Flower Broad Son. The joke is that in Japanese names there are a few kanji that tend to show up so often and in such generic or literal useage that they effectively carry no meaning on their own. Kurosaki is a Quincy clan name and it means Black Point/Destination and Kubo could easily link it back to Yhwach's own Black-esque theme by making Ichigo his direct descendent.

It's not that he wanted to become stronger than anyone because he didn't want to feel despair, it's that he couldn't stop it from eating him up inside so he decided to own it in a way he could get off on; and was through battle and the intoxication that he felt in a fight to the death.

You have to have a Quincy parent to be a Quincy. At least one like the Ishidas. Yhwach turned people and Arrancar into Sternritter by lending them his power, but so far that's been a raw deal.

Orihime's powers woke because of either Ichigo or the Hogyouku, depending on which you believe is true. If she's somehow a Quincy, then one of her parents must have been one or Yhwach gave her some power at some point.
