Some instances can use lowercase, but the main dialogue font should always be all-uppercase. If you think it looks like comic shit, don't use comics that look too comic-like. It's pretty straightforward.

No, being all upper case is what makes it like comic shit. And the main dialog should always be consistent. You wouldn't use another font just address a person with a title, or specify a group.

The only time you change font mid bubble is when the original itself does the same.
