The Hobbit was a children's book that was shorter than any single part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Peter Jackson made a trilogy out of it.

UBW was originally stated to be 24 episodes, but the broadcast version of the first cour alone was worth 16 24 minute episodes. The BDs will essentially boost its run time to that of a show with 20 episodes, and this is just the first half.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the hell out of the first part, but they are inserting these scenes into already complete episodes. It might hurt the flow, especially if they're not that good.

UBW was shit when they decided they NEEDED to show Archer creating swords during his first fight against lancer rather than just showing the sword getting broken and then Archer just coming back with more swords.

I'm just not sure how you'd want the scene visualized. I mean Archer was projecting. I think the dialog in the VN might have dodged around it, but that's what he was doing. With VN, with the limited amount of visuals you get it's a lot easier to obstruct stuff that should be plain as day to see, but with actual animation you can't really get around it super easy.

I mean they did a cool thing where they used the same shot that they did for Archer's projection when Shirou first did it, so that's something.

Joking aside, we know there's a scene about reality marbles that got cut from the prologue, the window fixing scene is gonna be re-added to episode 2, and off the top of my head the broadcast run dodged a couple of choices. One that I think should hopefully make it in is a dialog between Rin and Shirou about his projection magic. It was weird how the broadcast version made that seem like a complete asspull when there were multiple ways they could have handled it.

The only reason the first couple episodes of UBW we're double length was because they were trying to cram so much boring exposition in that they didn't expect people to keep watching if nothing happened for entire episodes. Ironically they still didn't manage to avoid this.

They're essentially trying to cover for the shitty pacing (which is that way to begin with so Ufotable can milk every last dime out of TM fans)
