I kinda wanna support the localization of Light Novels in the US, so I recently bought the first 3 Spice & Wolf books, the first Index book, and the first DanMachi book from Yen Press.

I don't want to have actual manga or anime in the house, since it's not something I want to waste my money on and throw on my shelves. I did pick up the first volume of Bunny Drop though on a whim one day, probably won't buy more though.

Abebooks and Ebay. Personally I was able to find a lot of OOP stuff at a local comic shop but that was a few years ago.

If you really want something you can save tags on Ebay too, so say if you're looking for something by Jiro Taniguchi you can have it e-mail you whenever an auction comes up with his name. There are also a lot of "manga lot" auctions where people will sell a couple manga and you pick which ones you want from their collection. It's mostly junk but I've found a couple rare ones that way too.

I just did some 2-minute research and found the VizBIG editions to be superior. Larger, more color pages, better paper. They're slightly cheaper than the VizBIGs but they don't seem to be worth it. Read the reviews on amazon.

I think mine would be:

Yen Press > Vertical > Viz > Seven Seas > Kodansha

I want to put Seven Seas higher but I don't know. They has some great titles like Monster Musume and Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer but like 90% of their series just don't interest me. The work they've done on the books I have from them are good though.

Many localized editions have better paper, are larger, hardcovers, omnibus, etc. It's not inherently an inferior product just because it's not in Japanese.

I like the smaller alternative companies like Drawn & Quarterly more since my taste skews more towards what they release. Their production values seem to fall in two extremes, though (ex: Last Gasp's Panorama Island release is excellent, while their Barefoot Gen release is literally in comic sans). A lot of the series that alternative publishers release aren't previously scanlated as well, which is a plus.
Other than Viz and sometimes Vertical I'm not a big fan of the other more mainstream companies. Kodansha is hyperconservative, which is a little disappointing given all the Titanbux they probably have, and Seven Seas and Yen Press have made some pretty suspect licensing choices. I wouldn't be surprised if those two publishers caused another market crash in the distant future.
Dark Horse and Digital Manga are literal cancer, which is too bad because I like a fair amount of what they publish.

I'm a huge fan of it. I love ghost stories and myths and this one's a cute, funny primer into Japanese Monsters.

It's a bit unusual as it's not manga with panels and you read it from left to right. There are no speech bubbles either.

It's consistently printed in light brown, reddish colours giving it an "antique" look. Also means the tanks are a bit more expensive and higher quality.

tldr; became one of my top favourites.
