Are these guys trying to become the Togashi/Miura of LNs?
Too gory for most studios, since all volumes have deaths (most of them by stabbing). It'd either be a TG-level censorship shit or would require OVAs. And superior nihonese men can't self-insert as a guy who actively pursues what he wants instead of all the girls jumping on his dick for no apparent reason.
Mikage said that he's almost done writing the last volume.
...But he also said that he hasn't disclosed anything of it to his editor yet. Hopefully he doesn't have to start all over. Also, he's going to release some Hakomari-themed songs in April.
Not true. OP pic is showing Hyouka, which is one of the best LN adaptations ever.
And Kyoani has also done Haruhi, which was from a LN.
But if you change LN to "generic harem self-insert LNs" then you'd be correct.
This LN is so comfy, I bet nothing could go wrong from here on.
There's only one (or maybe 2) volumes worth adapting. Mikage doesn't seem to have a clue about what he's doing. Everything he starts ends up abandoned after two or three volumes, or in a mess like HakoMari.
Only the first three episodes or so. Then the director started fucking everything up by shoehorning Chiho.
The first three episodes of NGNL were a lot better than Vol 1 of the novels. Not sure about the rest.
Decided to give another try to this after I couldn't finish first volume like 6 months ago, read up to the point where translations are not yet done, have to say it sure escalated quickly
>See OP image
>Recall seeing this girl one time when browsing Danbooru 10+ years ago
>Last I heard she was just marked as an original character with no source
>Feel obligated to read this LN now
>But a 7 volume story could easily be adapted in a 13 episode series
It can, but it really fucking shouldn't. Last time someone tried to shove in so many novels into a single cour we got Index S2. Having more than three volumes stuffed into a single cour is NEVER a good idea.
It's the comfiest SoL LN there is.
I'd say that would be a waste. Volume 2 may have been the worst, but it set up the dynamic between Maria and Kazuki now that they're in the real world, cements Kazuki's belief in an everyday life (which is important build-up before volume 4) and sets up Daia as the future antagonist while also hinting at his relationship with Kokone.
Oh fuck I forgot all about that.
I don't even remember why he was obsessed with his daily life to begin with, but the vol. 2 only redeeming part were his interactions with Maria.
The suffering sure escalated quickly.
Originally it's stated that his obsession is based
on him rejecting reality and trying to find some something to fill in the hole left by Yanagi.
From what I myself theorized,
Maria's box turned Kazuki into her Knight and mindfucked him into needing to have an obsession, something to be loyal to. However, as a Knight, he had no princess to protect, something to obsess desperately over. With nothing left but his understanding of what an "everyday life" is and a heart broken by Yanagi, he became obsessed with the idea of begin a normal person to the point where people could feel that he's insane even though he's trying to be as normal as possible.
Then Maria came in and he was forced to throw away his obsession with daily life and had Maria take that place, making her both his Princess and the center-point of his insanity. At that point, he was no longer restricted by the need to be "normal", which is why his madness spilled over to the point where it became obvious to everyone.
I thought that
Maria's willpower/strong desire or whatever managed to materialize 'O', who is Aya, her sister, who would grant wishes and to counterbalance it, it created/turned Kazuki into her Knight, the Empty Box, to destroy the wishes and bring back the daily life. Thus, Maria keeps going around trying to find 'O' to complete her own box, which resets her memory, and her knight's mission is to stop her and kill 'O'. Maybe he would disappear after killing 'O' as well.
Just read it. It's actually really good, I've been following it since the first chapter translate on bakatsuki. There almost no one I could talk to about this novel back then, it even don't have any page on mangaupdates or mal for a year after the first volume was translated. Glad many people notice it now.
The ones /a/ doesn't talk about.
Tsukumodou Antique Shop aka Hakomari done right.
Also pic related. The first one is so good that the author has ot beg people to buy his LN if they want a third volume ;_;
My theory is that Kazuki is still obssesed with everyday life, but not his anymore, but with Maria's, that's his raison d'etre, to turn Maria into a normal girl again. Maybe when 'O' was created, to realize wishes and took the form of her sister, Kazuki was either created or given the Empty Box power by the real, deceased, Aya Otonashi, who wished for her sister to lead on a normal life. Therefore, Kazuki had a attachment with his everyday life, but shifted it's focus to her because of the nature of his power. Maybe the twist is that Kazuki is actually her sister.
Any of you faggots reading Altina? One of the better fantasy LNs that I've read.
>The ones /a/ doesn't talk about.
Not really, but not that far from truth either.
/a/ can only talk about translated LNs, and usually the good ones are much harder to translate than you usual fantasy harem HS. So it's not surprising that most LNs /a/ knows aren't anything remarkable, to say the least.
It's not matter of tastes, just of access to the medium.
I love Hakomari but those things look interesting. Thanks, anon.
Does anyone translate Arist Craisi?
New translation fucking when?
>like a Vanadis copy.
>no bullshit harem antics
>girls actually dress themselves
>no gary stu MC who is a god at battle
>no tsundere bullshit
You're so retarded it fucking hurts to respond to you.
Tsukumodou has the first 4 volumes translated.
Kazuki won't disappear if "O" does, because he existed before Maria met him. The reason he got the Empty Bog is because Maria saw him give salvation to Yanagi (or was it Mogi?), which made her waver in her conviction and think that she wanted someone to stop her and free her. Kazuki was given
the Empty Box because of that belief..
Kazuki would be blushing, but I think Maria would be more like a "you're fucking disgusting" face.
Stop putting words in my mouth.
Also, it'd be a copy because Vanadis is older than Atina, and if you think that the MC isn't a self-insert you're dumb, even when the setting is okay.
Why, Bungaku Shoujo, of course!
But seriously, I love this series.
I am kinda happy that mangagamer, steam and shit started releasing VNs since they became more popular since then which also means that there are more VNs getting translated. Maybe LNs would be more popular if people would sell digital copies or something. I prefer to have a physical copy if I buy books but I wouldn't wonder if many people think differently in that regard.
Anyone of the moon speakers tried reading this?
If so, how is it?
>self-insert you're dumb
If you think the MC of any LN isn't a self insert, you're delusional. The difference is the MC actually has some conflict in Altina while the MC of Vanadis is a god in combat with every girl in the world wanting his cock. If you can't see the difference in characters and plot between the two, then you're a fucking idiot.
I kind of like to start HakoMari, but knowing fags are waiting for vol.7 forever makes me stop and go for other series instead.
I will start Ben-to this week, and then re-read LMS for the second time.
Completely forgot this existed.
>>A character is only self insert if he is Onii-sama tier of gary stu
>You just signed your certificate of legally retarded.
I literally just said:
"If you think the MC of any LN isn't a self insert, you're delusional."
I gotta know how you misinterpreted that.
I found the first volume. The second one is much better, but at least it's available:
>but knowing fags are waiting for vol.7 forever
It's not like any of us are just waiting for it without picking up anything else.
Since the last volume came out, I've picked up Owari no Chronicle, Kyoukaisen, Baccano, Index, Bungaku Shoujo, Zaregoto, Mushoku Tensei, Kino no Tabi, Overlord, Tsukumodo, Baka to Test, Daimaou, Toradora, Spice&Wolf, Hyouka, Zashiki Warashi, etc.
Speaking of LNs we'll never read to the end!
How hard/impossible do you think it'd be to adapt this? I'd say the first two are very possible, with some changes here and there, a good director and knowing when and where to end the episodes.
>tfw no qt3.14 Towako 2.0 mommy-waifu
Speaking of Krytyks translations, is anyone reading OSO? Volume 4 comes out end of this month
Speaking of Iris.
I wonder why nobody bothers translating the other novels from Matsuyama. Are they really that much worse? He has a bunch of one shots.
And he has even started a longer series lately.
