>think /a/ is being edgy as usual for saying Kaiki a best
>hurr generic nihilistic bad guy with bad aura
>get to koinomonogatari
holy shit 10/10 I'm sold
Kaiki best grill
Kaiki is amazing, definitely one of my top favorite characters. Still, in the terms of the exorcists, Oshino is my husbando.
>dat unwavering neutrality
Who is actually the strongest exorcist? Gaen?
The moment his theme playing, I knew this guy is something.
Something which the other girls cannot even compete with.
>stregth = punches
that dude kept calm in a literal ocean of snakes, whilst dealing with an agry and mental GOD,
then proceeded not only to calm her down, but to brainwash her, knock her out and pull a goddamn talisman out of her throat.
Meanwhile Hitagi was at home constantly changing panties because she was dripping wet for him
I really like Kaiki. He is an interesting guy, not completely black or white, his snake arc really made his character shine and he is not the piece of shit I thought he was.
Snake still a shit though.
I'm a namefag on /p/ since it's pretty much the norm there and I'm too lazy to leave it off when I'm on /a/.
Feel free to consider me anonymous (I encourage you to do so) or filter me.
have a nice day.
>Kaiki is 2edgy4me saturday morning cartoon villain because Nise
>Kaiki is best grill, kyaaa~, because Koi
Can't any of you faggots see beyond what is obvious and think for yourselves?
What the fuck are you saying? We can't change our opinion of a character after they get some development?
How would the other specialists have dealt with Nadeko Medusa? Gaen wanted to keep her installed as the god of that city, or was that just her way of manipulating Kaiki into going forward with his own plans?
Manipulation. She saw it as partly her responsibility and wanted it resolved. Putting up the money he needed just had to be done indirectly as Kaiki wouldn't accept simply working for her.
The man is faster than kanbaru. As if he's not hiding mystic fighting powers. Probably smart enough to hid them to stay unnoticed and live it up with moneys.
I think "god" falls under her purview, being an immortal being.
Kaiki really was best suited for the job, because the only way to beat her was to break her.
Oshino is slick enough to steal a vampire's heart without her noticing, but against a god? I have no idea.
Shaft knew couldn't live up to expectations so they killed him, is what I like to believe. Maybe he just got complacent after declawing a demi-God and getting shit tonnes of cash.
Pretty sure NisiO makes fun of the fact the anime would portray him as a cool, rugged middle-aged man. He has to be late-30's early-40's, and probably is meant to "look" older in the LN's because hes described as a dirty hobo.
That is not how you use the quote function.
>so they killed him
You're really stupid, aren't you? Go watch episode 1 of Koimonogatari again. Or don't, I'll just tell you:
Koimonogatari in its entirety is told by Kaiki himself, he even said that the story will not be a 100% true but that it will be a good story. In other words he isn't dead you bozo.
It's the people who think Hana proves he was alive who are being stupid.
There's not really a good reason to decide he was lying about being attacked. In fact comments in the latter books support that it did happen.
Shaft didn't kill him off though.
Just finished Nisemonogatari
Best subs for Neko, Mono S2, Hana, Tsuki ?
Crab best girl
Has anyone here at all read the book?
Most part is in Kaiki's point of view and at the end,
he says that he met a group of people(kids) he fooled before and they beat him to the death.
he is a liar, and he says himself that he got killed doesn't make any sense.
The best man lives.
I'm not sure if you're fucking with me or not
hanamonogatari is after koimonogatari in story time, he shows up.
It's been a while so yes I was wrong about the "group" part.
but come on,
he buys Kanbaru a meat, he lied about himself dying. I mean, I don't know why I'm even telling you this, go to 2ch or any reviewing site there was a huge discussion when Koi first came out.
Btw, if you can't read Japanese, too bad, keep on believing the best man is dead.
.....THE GHOST THEORY?
or the ghost nonsense?
a ghost buys Suruga meat
a ghost can be seen other than Araragi or ghosts
even before that,
Kaiki getting killed by a normal middle school kid with a bat?
Kaiki who overpowered Fire Sisters?
I don't think so.
I mean, really? or are you just messing with me?
You're just making dumb assumptions. Different types of ghosts have different rules so there's no sense in making assumption about what a ghost can't do or whether they can be seen. Like Numachi could be seen by the 2 people she directed to the authorities.
Kaiki being able to take Karen by surprise and knock her out doesn't mean he's some superhuman who isn't vulnerable to being taken out by a surprise blow to the head. He said Karen's mistake was coming alone.
>not liking the old man who steals money from dumb kids
>not liking the guy who "pretends to be retarded"
>not liking his first appearence
>Not loving the shit out of the mastermind of Nise
BakeSS just added to his developement.
His encounter with kambaru did even better.
Nise is from Araragi's perspective. Koi is from Kaiki's perspective. You're seeing the character from two lenses, neither of which are necessarily accurate. Koi is moreso though, as it is Kaiki's thoughts, it just includes is egotistical bias.
That's not true. Kaiki's stating the bare, naked truth.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious that's the case when he spends like two (?) whole episodes trying to devise a reasonably scummy justification for helping out Hitagi. He clearly wants to help her from the beginning, but his own code requires him to be as greedy and sleazy as he can about it.
Isn't his justification for helping out Senjougahara after his mental gymnastics just "Araragi knows Kanbaru. That's reason enough to do it for such a low price."
Obviously he wants to help Senjougahara but I don't think him honoring his promise to Tooe is really scummy justification.
I dunno, I'd take it that while his whole "Not everyone is evil all the time" speech from Hana shows that he's probably both.
To the people he conned, he's a bad guy.
To the people like Kanbaru, he's a good guy.
Not saying he is a bad character, but he is way overrated around here.
Oshino Meme was a way better character.
Kaiki is pretty much his replacement, though not nearly as good.
This guy knows what
He lied about a kid hitting him on the head with a rock. And the reason that Kaiki is never mentioned by name in Hana is because Kanbaru refuses to admit that Kaiki is being nice.
Monogatari is a series of unreliable narrators.
You mean from the Koi OP? Then yeah that car was nice.
Araragi driving that would have helped me look past his terrible outfit.
Indeed. Then we're in agreement, good hustle, anon.
As cool as Oshino is, he is nowhere even close to Kaiki as an actual character. For all of bake, all he is is a plot device to fix every problem with girls and teach araragi and shinobu about shit. He doesn't have a single development, yet alone a good one, in the entire series.
That's because he's supposed to be presented as is, because he's a straightforward person.
Unlike Kaiki who needed all the development because of the countless lies that surround him.
Kaiki is a goddamn Mary Sue, thats what he is.
I have to agree. Kaiki's whole business of rejecting personal attachments and trying to fill the void with something disposable and replaceable like money is way more interesting then laid back hobo.
>Calls out Kaiki
>Posts Shinobu, the ultimate Mary Sue in Monogatari to the point her perfection had people kill themselves over her. Entire invading armies to stop her menace would fold at her beauty and kill themselves.
While I agree to an extent Kaiki is a Mary Sue, I don't think posting Shinobu shows much self-awareness.
>Entire invading armies to stop her menace would fold at her beauty and kill themselves.
That's fucking cool, where was this mentioned? I don't remember it in Kizu or Shinobu Time.
Personally, I'm only to an extent. It's a feeling more than anything else and I'm not bothered either way if I'm right or wrong since it's just a gut feeling from a not very smart person.
Yeah. Also, there's no yuri
I don't know about you, but I think that with something like this entire series, spoilers aren't that bad. Even knowing what is going to happen, the ride is still tremendous amounts of fun.
We got it, just in the vaguest, most unsatisfying way possible.
I managed to avoid getting spoiled on anything but
snail sayonaraso far, but yeah, I'm enjoying this.
I kinda wished I started watching it with /a/ though.
Does anyone have the hitagi before hitagi now "what happened to anime" from Koi OP?
I wanted a full h-scene.
It's translated on baka-tsuki.
Oh boy. I pretty much know how the rest of the series is going to pan out. Rather, I know what happens, but I'm excited to find out how it happens.
I want middle school monkey and crab shenanigans with a side of yuri.
Why can't I get it? Why?
We all wanted the full on H-scene. The fact there was a Numachi and Kanbaru shower scene in Hana that nobody talks about disappoints me.
NisiO doesn't like making money and it'll be a depressing as fuck ending because you know how it ends.
Kanbaru gets denied by Senjougahara after all the internal monologue build up, Senjou staples Kanbaru in the face and Kanbaru ends up heartbroken.
Even if it I know the ending and it hurts I would like to see it.
Although Niso would have to write it and that's not going to happen.
Honestly. I'd read it because its Monogatari and I know it'll be good but I'm not sure my heart could take it.
For all the harem aspects about the show, the show is really just about no-one getting a happy ending and/or laid.
>It's translated on baka-tsuki.
And so are more of the short stories, looks like I've got some reading to catch up on.
Bake 3-5 is basically the slowest, powerpointiest of the lot.
I'm pretty sure I was falling asleep on my first watchthrough. On rewatches it's great but on the first time it's the hump you have to get through.
Indeed. I highly recommend
all of it
And if you haven't read what's translated of the time-warp arc (Kabuki?) I highly recommend that. The anime did Shinobu's cuteness no justice.
Let me guess, you fall asleep around the time Numachi goes into her life story?
Cause that's what happened to me the second time I watched Hana. The first time I was hype so I didn't really feel the drag. The second time was murder. Every other time I've been alright though.
I'll do that then, Kizu and what's been translated of Koyomi were fun, I could use more reading material.
I don't remember.
It was definitely during or after Kaiki's meat speech.
Also my player loops video files and for some reason I always woke up either when Arararararargi showed up or during that basketball game.
So yeah, basically you sleep through the speech. Let's just assume you watch the Kaiki scene, sleep through the Numachi speech and wake up at the Araragi scene.
You've effectively just made Hanamonogatari the best monogatari.
>The man is faster than kanbaru.
Not canon. Kaiki could never run faster than Kanbaru,
Shaft animated an empty mall scene but what happened in canon was that Kanbaru could not really run away from Kaiki because of the crowd that was at the mall and Kaiki could only catch up to Kanbaru because he can slip and dart around the crowd better than Kanbaru.
You're fucktards if you think Yozuru would need to kill Snake when her source of power is the shrine and a simple Unlimited Rulebook can easily force Snake away from the shrine, depowering her in the process since Rulebook is good enough to escape from Kurayami.
You're pathetic Kaikifags pretending to have read the novels when there was no such thing as Shinobu causing invading armies to kill themselves.
Once again, Kaikifags prove themselves to be pathetic lairs who bekl
Yeah I don't know about that but Shinbou is what you could describe as a Mary Sue, or was in the past. I don't really care about that though, I want to know how Kaiki is a Mary Sue.
