Why are old men always the best characters in manga and anime?

Netero was very fun because he didn't go all "muh human righteousness" or "muh goodness", he presented humanity as they are and explained that's the exact reason why we're on top. Humanity's infinite malice was a good way to describe it. The Chimera ants were an evil species as a whole, but he made it apparent enough that humanity is far more capable of evils
