They exist, and they're horrifying. Honestly, if you have a facebook, although it's not as strong as in anime, you can typically find some girl you happen to be friends with who posts creepy up-to-the-second updates on their obsessive love life. Even outside of ones I would classify as IRL yanderes I've known plenty of girls with twisted expectations of absolute, exclusive love that is obviously fueled by deep-seated disorders and insecurities.
