I played through the first VN, Amane and Sachi's routes were fun at least.

Is it worth trying out the other two games? I don't know if I can handle the insanely tedious flashbacks they throw into half of the routes.

5 hours until the kickstarter is over, and I'm still on the fence about backing it. I've been thinking real hard this last month whether to drop the money or not. And I still don't know.

On one hand, I liked Grisaia. It was a fun VN to play through.
I want to show my support and appreciation to the company, even if its in a indirect way.
I want to encourage more VNs to be localized.
I want to read the other two vns and finish the series.

On the other hand,
It's a lot of money. I tried really hard to save up this last month but bills and gas killed me. I can pull the money out of my savings, but should I?
I'm not the biggest fan of Grisaia, its just something that I enjoyed
Its not the full version; cutting all adult content. If I pay for something, I want all of it. I don't want to pay more for content that should have been there.
If I'm going to drop $60+ on a game, I'm going to get the physical copy. But that's $120 minimum

Things I'm not sure on: Can I apply a pirated patch to the official translation of all three to get the 18+ content? If I don't buy, will it be pirate-able? Will anyone translate the adult content?

I'm sorry about the blogshit, but I've been thinking about this since before the kickstarter launched; and I still can't come to a damn conclusion.

They're definitely translating the adult content, but they just can't announce it on the Kickstarter page since it goes against their ToS.
According to their Facebook, everyone who gets the $1 tier will have the opportunity to pledge towards the 18+ version once the Kickstarter ends, so I assume that everyone who has already pledged will have access to the adult content as well.

Fruity Grisaia was awesome, fanservicy anime until it'd gotten to Amane's route.

Yuuji was able to stop Imitation Crab from being the bitch Bakemonogatari's Real Crab is. If only Arararagi had that much Blackops in him, then the Bake series could've been a lot more watchable.

Also; Green Mitch and Blue Mitch were hella fun to watch.

If you didn't notice the repetition of plot thanks to a different playthrough order (which broke my immersion) or find the achingly long flashbacks boring then I guess I can see where you're coming from.

Yuuji and JB find evidence that East Beach was screwing the Jap military out of money in contracts and they permission from them to destroy the school to send a warning to East Beach and force them to pay to rebuild the school. Chizuru also happens to be the governer's daughter and is able to get it declared a legal/safe demolition and put a gag order on the local media. It's kinda ridiculous and ended up breaking my suspension of disbelief.

Only Michiru ends up pregnant. The rest of the girls were using birth control.

The whole deal was funny, because Kazuki was planning on having Yuuji make one of the girls pregnant, so that he could settle down. However, this ended up happening and she ended up somewhat miffed.

If you're gonna bait, at least frame it in a way that's technically true. For example: The sequel is just one giant flashback and the main cast is completely irrelevant.

Does the character development from the routes take place in the real story?
For example, is Sachi through with her need to do everything she's asked to, or is she still like that Furthermore, does Sachi address Yuuji as Yuu-kun in the sequels, or does she refer to him as Kazami-san?

I was thinking about picking up the VN, but was curious. Is there enough to the plot to keep it from devolving into "X is best girl, Y is a shit", or should I just believe everything I've seen around here?

There are five girls, each of which has their own fair share of problems. There's plenty of plot in each of the routes and they all warrant reading, even if you're not super crazy about the heroine.

I'm saying only the most conflictive things should be removed.
In Sachi's route, the only deal that causes big conflict with the rest of the story in her is destroying the school.
Say, they could make it so that Yuuji fooled her into thinking she destroyed the school, but had her blow up something else.
That way the school is still usable for the rest of the story.

The only two routes that should be altered completely are Makina's and Yumiko's, since those require them to leave the rest behind.

All girls have their ways of being good. Sachi is cute and crazy as fuck. Chiru Chiru is cute and silly with a great girl inside her, a 2 for 1 deal. Amane is fucking slutty but her ending gets you. Makina's is how Leon: The professional would've played if he had fucked the girl. Yumiko's is Imitation Crab which plays ok to a point, she goes from being 100% tsun to 100% dere but her ending and most of her route was a bit bad. She really has no bad ending.

Well that's the thing. I've never been into VNs for the porn. I tend yo read VNs that have no sexual content and skip through the ones that do. I want a story more than anything else.

You should definitely play it if you get the chance.
The first game gets off to a slow start, with the common route taking up half the game (which isn't a bad thing), but the story is interesting and can get surprisingly grim at times.

If you like the character designs, there's a good chance you'll enjoy the series.

The main plot goes on for fucking ages, but it's full of fun SOL/comedy moments and features some amazingly well executed character interactions. The 5 characters are incredibly stereotypical (older sister younger sister obidient slave tsundere yandere), but they work together well for the most part and the fanservicey moments are generally tasteful and well executed.

It falls apart in the second half as it branches off into individual routes. Amane/Sachi >>>> Makina >>>>>>>>>>>>> Michiru >> Yumiko
in terms of writing quality. i.e. I'd recommend Amane and/or Sachi, go for Makina if you really want, don't say I didn't warn you about the other two.

Sachi's route is really fun, but it has plenty of bullshit.
Makina is great for the action, but Makina makes for a rather shitty love interest, and there's plenty of bullshit as well (agents acting like retards, for one).

As for Michiru's route, I actually loved it, even though it had no action or comedy like the previous ones. I liked how her personal issue was explained and how Yuuji dealt with it. The ending was really satisfactory.

I agree Yumiko's route was boring. However, her sex scenes are the best in the game, especially her last one.

If you accept the reasoning behind Amane's H-scenes as a coping mechanism for her survivor's guilt, none of the other sex scenes really add to the plot significantly and can be skipped without missing any of the story.

That being said, I though Michiru's first H-scene was really sweet. It characterised her really well and didn't feel forced like the others.

Perfect summary. Despite that, the fun/bullshit ratio is so much better than in a certain couple of the other endings.

Her character is so much more interesting while the other characters are around for her to bounce off of, so to speak. I'm pretty sure the decision to move away from the school setting was the biggest fuck up in her route.

She was the girl I liked the least, and had already heard from here that her route was boring.
I really wanted to stop reading, but the chance of reading the other routes kept me going.
