I hope this means changes are in order with how they run the site after last week autism fest with the leak.

This is how they rolled out soundless webms too, not announce it but roll it out to 1 or 2 boards first. I'm glad if they allow sound webms now since I think it set us back for a while to only allow no sound webms. They're videos, not gifs, and now unless you were good at organizing them you're going to have muted webms and sound webms in the same folders. I'm excited for the future now that sound webm is the standard on all chan sites.

It makes more sense for /gif/ and /wsg/ to support soundums than other boards. Just like it doesn't make sense for them to support non-animated files. Not every board supports .swf or .pdf, so it's not too far fetched to think they'll keep board specific file support for this too.

I have my computer volume set to 100% and the output hooked up to a stereo receiver, so I can control my media volume through software controls (this way, I can control MPC-HC with the scroll wheel of a wireless mouse).
