But they did focus on Ruu's issues. She realized that doing everything for yourself and then trying to sacrifice yourself without considering the feelings of others just ruins everything. Both her and Yuki changed throughout spread which is why they were able to wish everyone better. Also, Mayu's development paralleled Ruuko's.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first season, sort of kind of enjoyed the second and probably wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much if I hadn't been watching it with /a/. Last couple of episodes completely shat all over itself to an almost KLK degree, though, so that was disappointing.

Many people thinks the first season was pretty good, but I finally realized it has some big problems in the whole series. The second season was definitely dissappointing but the way the whole series ended was 'good'. I didn't like Okada decided to turn the WIXOSS to a coming-of-age story in the end of spread. Remember WIXOSS was basically a long commercial for a TCG being developed by Takara Tommy in the same time as WIXOSS anime was being done. For some reason, with Okada as main writer, they succeed. Now we have two spin-offs and a future LN. We don't have nothing more to discuss. WIXOSS didn't have a prior material unlike other series which has LN, Videogames and such more.

Easily top5 OST of the year - and actually well used in the show - plus great OPs/EDs and voice acting.
Some damn great directing, especially in some episodes.
Neat atmosphere, setup and foreshadowing - except S2 kind of trows all of that out of the window, plus having some disappoining end and weak tone.

I'm glad these threads stay up without me bumping them for days.

I enjoyed spread, had no major complaints, except for I wish there was 12 more episodes.

I don't even know why I enjoyed this series so much, or why I can't be assed enough to read the manga or study the card game.

I enjoyed WIXOSS. I enjoyed the whole ride I had back then in late night from episode 1 to episode 9. I was totally invested in the series I couldn't pay attention to the the actual problems with Infected and why them makes it bad but not as Spread. When I joined the threads from episode 10, 11 and 12 all the charm was dissppearing. I had a lot of complains about the final episodes but I was kind of impressed in the last episode. I was getting into Mari Okada too and her dissappointing writing changed the way I see anime. Later, with Spread's episode 1 I was relieved because I thought the series had a clear path to follow and develop the story around it, but then each episode was nothing but dissappointed. I didn't enjoy many episodes and what I enjoyed the most was rewriting the events of each episode of Spread in my mind. Of course, I won't deny there were great episodes in which the musical direction, the voice acting, the artistical photography and the direction were great. It's just sad a series with great potential had this conclusion.

Aside all this shit, I'm kind of happy for Takara Tommy mostly because they had the balls to hire a controversial writer to produce an original anime with a 'bad' studio like J.C. STAFF in which they never cared to explain the mechanics of the TCG and they wanted to tell a story using the TCG as an element. My final thought will be always the same: under the right hands, WIXOSS would have been AOTY-material.

I knew it had problems cause I carried right over from Nagi ep 25/26 and knowing all the reasons Okada is a shit, I had 0 hype backlash and 0 complaints. Does Wixoss have flaws yes many yet of all anime in 2014 I watched over 100 of them it is my favorite, except for maybe G-Reco and Shirobako which are not finished yet. Infected has such a creepy yet nostslgic atmosphere I've seen nowhere else, and while spread had less atmosphere it was still just as fun and I already loved the characters. All in all I loved it.
