Does Tomoko deserve friends or a normal life?
Is she going to become a hikki?
Does she deserve a happy ending?
What's the point of Watamote?
it's there to motivate you to socialize
there's a cute girl out there for you
you just have to look for her
>Does Tomoko deserve friends or a normal life?
She has friends, sadly her life is not normal
>Is she going to become a hikki?
>Does she deserve a happy ending?
Why shouldn't she?
>Why shouldn't she?
Ugly/socially retarded girls don't deserve a happy ending.
I like the doujin where Tomoko does a stupid scheme, becomes a prostitute, and gets practically raped by an old man.
> Mfw she would probably be totally normal looks wise if it weren't for those bags under her eyes
I mean she'd still look gloomy but at least not outright ugly.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, anon! Even you deserve to be happy. There's no reason for you NOT to be. Life should be spent creating as much happiness as possible, while also creating as little unhappiness as possible.
But not everyone deserves happiness, under any interpretation of the word.
>Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
Notice how it says the pursuit. Everyone has the right to try to be happy, but nobody deserves to be.
>But not everyone deserves happiness, under any interpretation of the word.
If everyone everywhere could live out perfectly happy lives without negative repercussions on each-other, would it make sense to prevent anyone from living a happy life? No. The problem is that's impossible. But like I said, it depends on your interpretation of 'deserves'. If you think of it as though it were synonymous with having a 'right' to something, then obviously not. If you think of it as 'be worthy of', then yes, everyone is. 'deserve' is a word with pretty lax meaning.
I don't think you got my analogy.
Yeah, like I said, it has very lax meaning. My point was that if it were possible for everyone to be happy, then that is the best choice. So in the sense of 'being worthy of', yes everyone 'deserves' happiness. It's just not feasible.
I'm a Utilitarian. If somebody says people don't deserve happiness under the implied pretense that 'deserving' happiness is related some other metric, damn right I'll respond.
Hugboxing isn't my thing. If it were, I wouldn't be here getting into arguments on 4chan.
>to merit, be qualified for, or have a claim to
>to be worthy of, qualified for, or have a claim to reward, punishment, recompense, etc.:
>synonyms: rate, warrant, justify
From google's version:
>do something or have or show qualities worthy of (reward or punishment).
>synonyms: merit, earn, warrant, rate, justify, be worthy of, be entitled to, have a right to, be qualified for
Last time I checked, 'be entitled to', 'be qualified for' and 'justify' all had different meanings.
Deserve has a lax meaning, and is often used in replacement of any of those terms.
>Is she going to become a hikki?
Her mom won't allow it. She will probably be forced into arranged marriage and have a little Tomokos.
>What's the point of Watamote?
To not feel alone about your socially awkward past.
If only I were a girl, I would do better than Tomoko and earn my happy ending.
I'd make her my girlfriend, her problems are easily fixed, bad hair just need some care in the shower, for example.Plus, normality is overrated, normality makes you boring, it's the exciting things that makes people think being normal is fun. Realistically, i've met a close equivalent of Tomoko in real life, she was a social reject, had relativly bad hygiene compared to your average person,. and was a hikki. You know what happpened to her? She got fat, married an army guy, had a kid, got a divorce, then lost her kid to child protection services, tried to kill herself, and now she lives with her parents playing WoW.
Tomoko does deserve to be saved, but only if shes willing to "settle" for something other than perfection.
>Being a girl doesn't make everything easier
Fucking this. I don't understand how most people can't grasp this. Unless you're fuckable everyone will treat you like shit. I see it at work every day. Nice looking women get treated well, average looking ones get somewhat treated well and the ugly, fat and old ones get treated like shit. Just the way it is.
