2003 FMA has a special place in my heart but it is bad compared to the actual real plot where it has to deal with the sins of the father being passed on to his sons.
Plus better fights
Brotherhood and 2003 are both 7/10 anime.
The manga is superior to both. Can we please fucking stop with these threads now?
The 2003 anime had too much filler and unnecessary drama. The plot lost its way at the end and never found it again.
Brotherhood had too much mood whiplash and it felt out of place, ruining many of the serious moments.
The manga is where its at.
2003 and Brotherhood are too different to be compared. They both have their flaws and strenghts. It all comes down to subjective taste: if you like more drama, grimdark stories with a more alternative spin on a shounen series with open endings, you're likely to prefer 2003. If you are more to fun and action, with a both rich and coherent story with closure, Brotherhood is for you.
The constant shitflinging between fans of 2003 vs Brotherhood is stupid, it makes you all look like children. It's fucking great that there exist two almost completely different versions of this story. There's something for everyone that way. You're never ever going to convince the other parti that your version is "better" so fucking get over yourselves. FMA is a solid shounen series, all things considered, no matter what version you go with.
Your first erection is 13 years ago.
No, it really was. For example the Night of the Chimera's Cry was really done in one episode, so people who had just come into the series through Brotherhood have no reason to get attached to Nina and thus don't feel nearly the same impact of her death.
Then there is the fact a bunch of characters were introduced in a filler episode and the implications of King Bradley being a homunculus came in there as well.
We already knew. I remember thinking it was completely out of place and unnecessary first time I watched it. Need to somehow make Rose important to the plot at the very end also made me raise an eyebrow.
