Why can't scanlators have consistent naming schemes, fuck.

Also this shit's the absolute worst
>"30.rar"
>"ch12.zip"
>"001.rar"

This makes automatic sorting a complete fucking mess.

Kill me. At least fansubbers are consistent with the names most of the time.
>>
different scanlation groups. go suck daiz's dick if you want unity in manga scanlation you fucking asskissing shit. Anime fansubbing is dead because of daiz

>Dantalian no Shoka
>automatic sorting a complete fucking mess.
haha go cry on /g/ you fucking lolicon pedophile

Is everything okay, anon? You seem fairly troubled.

The problem isn't that different groups use different naming schemes. A lot of groups can't name anything consistently.
>>
>.rar
If you're okay with closed source formats you don't get to complain about sorting.
>>
You should have listened to Daiz.
>>
>>120459954
I'm not, but I don't decide what archive format they release their shit in.
If I had my way it would all be tars, but nope.
>>
>>120459947
Jesus, what the fuck
>>
>>120459947
Most people don't understand how filesystems work.

>ch2
>ch10
>ch01
This would put it in this order:
ch 01 > ch10 > ch2

Half the issue comes from people not knowing that you need that 0 on single digit chapters, assuming the naming is consistent.
>>
>>120459805
Mass rename your files, nerd.
>>
What happened to the Daiz Approved Manga Naming Format (c) (tm) anyway?
>>
>>120459805
>reading manga
>>
>>120460886
Scanlators aren't joined at the hip with /a/ like fansubbers do, so it didn't take off.
>>
>>120460886
It's not like there's any way to enforce it. I've seen some groups start using it but there's very little anyone can do about it unless some centralized service for scanlations pops up.

Most of the reason for this stupidity is that named chapters get taken down frequently on hosting sites, best way to subvert this is to use a good host like MU, get,it, zipshare or sendshare, and stop with the horrible mediafire.

Best of all would be a personal FTP, but eh, can't be too picky.
>>
Not as annoying as

>>
Most scanlators (myself included) just couldn't care less about downloading manga.
>>
>>120461708
I haven't seen that in a long time.
>>
>>120461829
Yeah, that's why for 90% of manga I read I can find DDLs on the scanlator sites, rest on batoto(which I download with a script)

Shut the fuck up, faggot, you know nothing.

where do you download your mango, /a/?
>>
>>120461832
I encountered it recently, with Shirokuma Cafe. Now that cunt want me to register on her shitty site to download manga.
>>
>>120462461
Where else? The scanlator, madokami too when I bother visiting the site.

Didn't Daiz come up with some turboautistic naming scheme for manga some time ago?
>>
>>120459805
Because many of them are pure retards or american middle-schoolers.
>>
>>120462551
Ahaha oh wow, that's some oldskool landwhale scanlation.
Look at Fallen Syndicate, several DDLs, only reader, and full on fujoshi lineup.
Not at all like most landwhale scanlators and their sekrit AUTHORIZED MEMBERS ONLY YOU MUST MAKE 20 POSTS TO DOWNLOAD club
>>
>>120462636
You can still encounter macshit and thumbs.dll (I even encountered quite a lot of this shit with file size up to 50-100 Mb, albeit mostly in raws.)
>>
>>120462802
I've encountered them quite frequently some 2-3 years ago, but recently they just seemed to have died off, at least for the manga I read.
Maybe Apple fixed the issue on OSX's end, I don't know, but at least I'm glad my mcomix isn't shitting itself anymore.
>>
>>120462886
You lucky then, they still around.
>>
>>120462603
Too bad scanlators are too retarded and stubborn to use it.
>>
>>120462983
Or just plain don't know, as mentioned, a lot of scanlators are normalfags and have no idea what Daiz is or does.
>>
>>120462802
It's always like that with public raws archived in .rar files. Up to 40MB of some filler garbage. Either thumbs.dll or some database shit.
>>
I wish I knew how to Madokami.
Better check out the archives.
>>
Hepburn romanized Manga Title Name - English translated manga title name if available c001-XXX v001 [Group][batutu/sengmanga].ext

is the objectively correct naming scheme less special characters and because not all manga go beyond chapter 999 and get compiled into tankobon.
>>
>>120463436
Most manga don't go beyond 99 either.
>>
>>120463436
However a lot of people still put volume numbering before chapter numbering, or even add volume numbering when there's not even a volume in the first place.
Also including the place you ripped it from seems like a bit of a waste if you're ripping it from a decent source.
>>
>>120463436
objectively correct filename scheme

manga title initials_chapter_001_p000.ext
manga title initials_chapter_001_p999a TRANSLATOR NOTES and CREDITS.ext
manga title initials_chapter_001_p999c DONATIONS/GROUp RECRUITMENT
manga title initials_chapter_001_p999d group /prozess level insane rants

>>120463501
padding it to be 099 is much uniform but just 99 is okay too

>>120463567
>However a lot of people still put volume numbering before chapter numbering, or even add volume numbering when there's not even a volume in the first place.
yeah, I know that my objectively correct naming scheme will never catch on outside this thread because it all boils down to the end user's capacity to give a fuck about this things.

>Also including the place you ripped it from seems like a bit of a waste if you're ripping it from a decent source.
I'm kind of imagining archiving my lewd manga somewhere then 15 years later another guy will download it with filename intact, wondering what the fuck is /a/, madokami, or batoto

>I'm kind of imagining archiving my lewd manga somewhere then 15 years later another guy will download it with filename intact, wondering what the fuck is /a/, madokami, or batoto
That looks pretty fun to be honest.
>>
>>120463877
>keeping any group's garbage other than TL notes
Why.
>>
It's been over six months since the last revision of the Daiz Naming Scheme and the only criticism people seem to have about it is "It's made by Daiz"/"I don't like it"/"It's ugly" so it should work pretty well.

These pages should be specific and not tied to the chapter pages, something that will always end up last like.
>>
>>120464120
Judging from the rest of his post, try to imagine some kid finding this shit 15 years from now and looking at it with a disgusted look in his face saying "this was a thing back then?".

Nigger not even tape can last 200 years, flash most certainly can't because it goes to shit in a year without a charge and mechanicals would just rust or short circuit.

Which one is the best Filehoster for scanlations?

with the appended letters like p000a works for that very purpose at least for win7 fucking freebsd is no fun.

I'm kind of just showing the format
manga title initials_chapter_001_p000 could be
manga title initials_c001_p000 or something

p is for page heh.

zipshare, anonfiles, MEGA are guaratneed to keep your shit without ti getting deleted.

zipshare completely fucks up the naming though, adds ----- everywhere

You're assuming you're going to die today, in the years to come they might come up with a new storage device that doesn't perish that easily.

I'd say mega.
