>Ashita no Joe
>underrated
Even Japan considers it the best sports manga.
>>120449753
Japan isn't /a/
>>120449888
might as well be
Ashita no Joe? Shitty ripoff of Hajime no Ippo and Gurren Lagann references.
JOE DIES!
>>120450616
Yes, I remember...Joe
>>120449753
Lack of discussion != lack of interest. Just because I don't want to talk about it doesn't mean that I don't remember Joe forever.
>>120449613
Ashita no Joe was ping pong before ping pong
Colorful.
>>120449613
You mean under appreciated, you nigger.
I'm sure you have good taste though
>>120451268
Except that Joe is actually good
>>120451297
Nobody ever talks about Colorful.

Found it on DVD while I was in Spain a couple of weeks ago. Picked it up because it looked interesting, but I still haven't gotten around to watch it. Should I do it right now?

anime/manga which are widely known in Japan that are older than late 80's have no popularity in the west because they were never localized such as Kochikame, Oishimbo (but i guess this is more heavily targeted towards the japanese demographic), Leiji Matsumoto's works, Golgo 13, and many others.

>>120451652
Well I think it's safe to say that Astro Boy and Tezuka's works are pretty well known in the west.

And doesn't have shitty QUALITY

I bought the box sets. The interview with Fred Ladd was super interesting. Pretty good story about how NBC ended up with it. There is even old footage of Japanese voice actors dubbing at Tezuka's studio.
