I can't use AppLocale. I don't know what's the matter with my copy of windows but the language pack is just partially installed (meaning I can use it for anything but system things) and I can't uninstall nor reinstall it.

Or in short, I can't select "Japanese" when using AppLocale. Instead, I use NT Locale Emulator which had worked perfectly up till now.

For me to get a good scan of this I need to find out how to take it apart without completly destroying it and then take it to my university and use the scanners there. Also there was that another anon who was planning to scan it. If he still wants to scan his copy and knows what he is doing better than me we should leave it to him. But if he doesn't want to do it anymore I will.

Is the binding string, staple or glue? String and staple is pretty easy to take apart but glue maybe not so much.
Of course if you're rich and don't give a fuck you can always take it to a specialty store and ask them to take it apart and scan it for you.

Actually glue is easier than both: you just need to heat the spine (with an iron or something. Put paper between the spine and the iron if you don't want to get it dirty)) and gently pull the pages.

Then to rebind it adjust and press the pages together, heat their spine so the glue melts and they stick together, get them in the cover, heat the spine of the cover so the glue melts and press it HARD to force the pages into the cover's glue, usually by resting the oposite side of the spine on a flat surface and pulling the cover down.
For this step adjusting the pages before applying the cover is very important, they must occupy the same space as they did before debinding.

The downside is that the paint/drawings directly on the cover's spine can get damaged, but it's still better and easier than rebinding a string-based book.

I've scanned a few doujins and anthologies.
You would only know that they were debound and rebound because in some of them there's a bit of glue peeking from the up or down side.

Although it's true that some books are harder than others. The bigger the page, the harder to adjust, and color pages are much more slippery than usual manga pages, so they slide on each other and additional methods might be required to keep them together before rebinding.
Scanning color pages by itself is also a lot harder since most scanners (specially cheap ones like mine) will wreck the color balance.
