Words 02 - Reincarnation and the Void

These are where souls that have been judged go.
Once the deceased have been judged after playing one of many games, they are escorted to two side-by-side doors, each containing a customers-only elevator leading to reincarnation or the void.
The "White Noh Mask" and the "Hannya Mask" are displayed above the elevator doors, and reveal where the souls are headed. Once the souls of the deceased have made their journey, their bodies take the form of dolls.
Those who are reincarnated may live anew in the present day, but those sent to the void are cast into the graveyard of souls.
Souls cast into the Void are left with their negative emotions and consciousness intact, and remain in nothingness for all eternity.

And more to the point, why was that bitch asking Decim where they went if she can just look at the masks above the elavator. Also I might remember it wrong, but the masks were reversed for the 2 pairs so far, in Billiards the good mask was on the right and in the Darts the good mask was on the left.

Well, it was implied during the flashback that he did some shady things during his youth, and his KEIKAKU DOORI grin when getting into the elevator didn't help.

Alternative he could have asked for the other guy to get spared when he talked to Decim after the game ended.

In Buddhist tradition, escaping the cycles of karma/reincarnation is the ultimate goal.

In general the idea for the show is retarded. The whole "being judged when you die to show if you were good enough" thing both in christianity and older religions that share this feature is based on the belief that the dude doing the judging is a god or in some way very superior in everyway to even the smartest/wisest/fairest of humans.
But here we see that the arbiters are even more retarded than humans and shitty judges of character/morality/whatever.

Well in Greek beliefs you weren't judged by the Pantheon gods, everyone just went to the underworld to be the little bitches of Hades.

The only old religion with a judging system that comes to mind is the ancient Egyptian one, with the whole "weighing of the heart" thing and that was done by comparing the dead to Ma'at who wasn't an asshole retard god like the ancient Greek ones. She was absolute law, truth and justice, no mistakes, no retards calling the shots.
