>>120028166 That's typical childish behaviour you are showing there. I mean, I wouldn't say that as a mature adult I am but someone needs to tell this. When you will get as mature as me then you will understand the hidden worth of the series that is found only by mature readers such as myself.
>>120028284 Well shit...I can't argue with that logic. Maybe I am missing something because of my immaturity. Maybe I have been missing out because of my recklessness and preconceptions about the series. Have I really come so far as to just completely deny the series just because I didn't like it? Have I in my rushed judgement not given the show a fair deal in at least attempting to understand the complexities of the show and making a decision of the show's quality based on how it managed to get across the messages and things it tried to portray? Maybe I have... Or maybe you're full of shit and my show is still better than yours. Objectively so, none of this subject human bias shit. Objectively so.
>>120028600 He's Fresh obviously. He's the kind of guy that likes to be fashionable late to a party and then declare "Hey guys, let's split" and leave fashionably early. He's the kind of guy who as a testament to his skill has been preserved by the Shiranui who don't do things by halves. He's always prepared and has supplies on hand like Rubber Bands to make sure that he's never caught empty handed. He's the hero Medaka Box needed but I will admit, he doesn't really give a fuck about style.
See, the joke is that OP is referencing both /a/'s very low ability to actually form any consensus and the fact that Medaka Box is wildly polarizing to start a thread based on a doubly unlikely premise.
Anshin'in is the all-powerful Author, Freshmaker is the Reader. Even though Anshin'in has control of the world, Freshmaker can ignore anything the author writes or does because ultimately the fans are in control of whether or not the author's world succeeds. IE We can choose to have it cancelled by not supporting it.
It's why Medaka had to turn her entire body into a style. A speech-based power-up. Because the author can only interact with the reader through the story and the stuff they write down.
>>120026878 It's utter shit. I hate medaka and her guts, I hate zen and his gayness, I hate the story itself (Came in for a comedy taking care of crazy requests that got way out of hand, got shit instead) and I hate that people actually like it.
>>120033169 Because you haven't seen Kumagawa yet. Watch the very last episode of the second season and you'll see what I mean. The arc that comes literally right after the anime ends is by far the best in the series and Kumagawa single handedly saves it. Also Medaka isn't that bad, you'll kinda like her by the end. But you'll LOVE Zenkichi.
>>120033112 NisiO doesn't fuck around with his meta. Hitei actively shit-talks the audience about her past, Ougi mugs for the camera during Hana, Senjougahara and Oshino with their "My voice actor is great" "Smoking in the animation" comments.
NisiO loves his meta more than he loves girls getting hair cuts.
Are you kidding me? She has no flaws because she adapts and improves herself each time she is faced with a problem. She overcomes everything. She is the perfect human being. And everyone either loves her or respects her.
>>120033796 Yeah, her flaw was mostly that because she was so superior to everyone, she was basically incapable of being equal with someone. For example, when they all played music, Zenkichi could support others and make their music sound better than it otherwise could, while Medaka could play her music perfectly, but no one could really enjoy it that much.
>>120034756 Not that anon but the music thing is obviously a side effect of being unable to be human. She can't connect with people in any significant manner and her inability to suck leaves her isolated from other people.
Normal people can join groups and establish relationships with people, in their weakness they're able to cling together and not be alone.
Even with all these people around Medaka, no-one actually understands her and no matter what positive actions she takes to try and help people, she's unable to overcome this loneliness.
There's no one there to actually feel empathy for such a perfect being and that in itself is causing an issue.
People are putting too much emphasis on the fact "The End" allows her to do everything and then just stop there and think "She's a Mary Sue" without realizing that Medaka is written how a Mary Sue would actually end up being if you were perfect at everything. Alone against her will.
>>120035125 I think some of that is what Nisio intended, but he did a very, very bad job of portraying it. In the end, the guy has too much of a hard-on for "perfect girls" and he was just writing what he liked.
>>120035280 Not that being perfect in an inherent flaw but that being perfect has its own flaws that we ignore.
The grass is greener is a pretty good way to explain it.
We're flawed beings so we just see Medaka and think. "Down boner, now is not the time" and then "Her life is amazing, she's rich and can literally do anything" While from her perspective its "I would give up my powers in a heartbeat if I could be like them."
It's why she's so happy at the end to only have that animal-based skill once she loses the end. She can finally be around animals.
>>120035327 Imagine if you were rich and everyone knew you were rich. Undoubtedly people would be nicer to you because you had money, right? It's that except replace money with powers. You could never really be sure if people are your friends because of your personality or your money.
>>120035463 Yeah but you can't blame a guy for writing what he wants. It's sorta why we read him. Because we want wordplay/banter/lolis/overpowered hilarity etc.
>>120035785 >Yeah but you can't blame a guy for writing what he wants. Sure. I just think it's misguided to try to dress it up as him trying to write something critical or deep, when it's mostly just his fap fuel. Breaking down and portraying Medaka into the kind of character you describe would have been really interesting writing, but it's not what Nisio did.
>>120035891 Oh no, I think he tried. Lord I think he tried but he's still an Otaku without a doubt so I'm not expecting a world-changing revolutionary piece.
By the same token, I won't deny his effort and the fact he sorta hit the mark just because it's Otaku-ish. He did try and his intent did get across. It's not the first time he's written a character like Medaka so it's not the first time he's tried either.
>>120035921 Fucking everyone would. Imagine being able to be Medaka good, that would be fucking amazing!
However, grass is greener and people cannot accurately judge their own positions. So while Medaka IS living the good life. To her, her problems have gotten to the point where she'd rather be a normal person.
It's a normal human trait to think things are worse than they actually are. It's because it's happening to you personally and it's your burden which is something you want to get rid of.
Also using Africa/3rd world country is a poor comparison, they'd kill just to be second world.
>>120036228 >Oh no, I think he tried. Lord I think he tried but he's still an Otaku without a doubt so I'm not expecting a world-changing revolutionary piece. Alright, this I can agree on. He certainly do more with her character than with Aikawa or 7mi, though because of her central position in the story, Medaka ended up being a lot less fun than either of her prototypes.
>>120037247 Yeah I don't particularly like Medaka either. Freshmaker was fine because he was fucking hilarious and didn't have any baggage attached to his character but Medaka should have been renamed Meh-daka.
