Kiki's Delivery Service was my favorite movie for a time as a kid. But as I've grown, I've come to like Laputa, Porco Rosso and Whisper of the Heart the most.

Despite this, all Ghibli films are still great to amazing.

The director isn't the only one who works on a movie. You know that right? Robin Hood, The Rescuers, Sword in the Stone and many other Disney films weren't directed by Don Bluth. Yet he's clearly the biggest influence on the films.

I'm sure that's well documented. I'm just asking for a well documented source that Miyazaki was the major driving force behind Whisper. It certainly doesn't feel very much like him outside of the dialogue.

But that's wrong. He did a lot more fro mthat movie. From coming up with the main idea to make the movie to the original screenplay to storyboards, etc. He also came up with the whole 'Country Road' theme, saying he wanted to make a movie that pointed out the detachment of the world with city living.

Even if you want to ignore all this, Miyazaki writing the story still makes him plenty tied to it.

Totoro is slow but good, it has an interesting theme about how children cope with death and is pretty emotional. Kiki was slow, boring and just typical coming-of-age stuff.

Disney dubs stand out only for using Hollywood actors. And even then, many of the voices aren't the best. You know somethings wrong when actual talented voice actors like Mark Hamill or Phil Hartman don't sound as good as they do in other animated works.

But there's many more problems with the dubs beyond just how the voices sound. They changed a ton of the dialogue. Far more than was necessary even translating it into English. The dubs for Mononokehime and Spirited Away change so much dialogue, its painful to watch....

Japanese Mononoke: "I understand."
English Mononoke: "I was resolved the moment I let my arrow fly."

You obviously didn't. Because that's not the point of the movie. The point was about accepting yourself for who you are. Kiki spent most of the movie trying to go against who she was. And that's why she lost her connection to her powers.

Kiki is also a pretty big Tsun bitch when you think about it. Especially towards Jiji and Tombo. throwing all her frustration onto them. It just comes back on her when she loses her powers and starts to get ignored back.
