There is a lot of foreshadowing for Gon-san, from early on in the series (in regards to his potential, his selfishness, his occasional craziness), and during CA arc when they explicitly mention that Gon is going psycho a number of times. He was hardly written into a corner, it had been building up the entire time.

Not adressing anyone in particular in this thread, but I'd like to point out how pointing out a lack of detail in art is pretty nonsensical.

Detail can be used to camouflage flaws and mistakes of an artist.

What's far more important is composition. How well things are proportioned, colored and or shaded and placed on an image or panel.

Detail is just support for that.

This goes for pretty much any form of visual art.

They're separate things. Covenants and restrictions aren't a power in themselves, they're used to create/refine/enhance a power. He used a covenant and restriction to make full use of jajanken.
