Why was it so good?
>Araragi doing the fucking Platinum Disco dance
>The focus on everyone's favorite autistic zombie
And here I was thinking that Shaft had lost their touch considering the snooze that was Hanamonogatari
For real? Man I guess I really could beat that little faggot in a fight.
>being obsessed with something you have no control over
Thought provoking themes.
Deep plot and storytelling.
So what does everyone think of ClareN
No, I'm too distracted by how cute Shinobu is.
>Shinobu will never cover for you
Why is she so awesome?
I don't get it, do his sisters seriously lust over this chode, or is it just his Vampire Charisma at work?
I started re watching the entire series before Tsuki came out and I'm still not sure. and why can't 3d sisters be like 2d imoutos?
Women ain't nothing but bitches and hos
2D women aren't real and can be ideal
We have had this conversation before
I'm wondering how the "vampires don't reflect" thing works now. Obviously the sun light hits his body and he has a shadow. This means on the physics side, he is still normal. But then the reflection part, which is fundamentally the same principle as seeing him/having shadows, is broken. Is the physics in Araragi universe broken or did the writer not know about physics?
>...but overall Tsuki was just better.
Tsuki had visuals and PLOT, Hana had those too, but a better story and characters to boot. I'm by no means saying Kanbaru/ lesbian girl are better then Yotsugi/ Shinobu by any stretch of the imagination, but her episode was far more interesting then Tsukis plot.
international standards are nice for communicating across different cultures but different cultures have their own traditions and when we are talking about specific cultures we should take that into account
The "No Reflection" thing has been ripped off since Dracula and probably before, Stoker said that it is because vampires are unholy beings that don't have light work the same way for them.
Tsuki is obvious foreshadowing for what is about to go down, I haven't even read the fucking novels and I caught that
meanwhile Hana is literally a side-story for Kanbaru development
it also had better visuals than Hana, and much more fanservice
I wasn't impressed by anything back then
Would you abuse the Yotsu?
I'm ignoring the fanservice-y parts in both deliberately because I know I can't contain my bias and I'll just give all my points to Hanamonogatari. So I have to remove them to get a better look at the other things they did, like overall impact on the world.
Tsukimonogatari expanded the Exorcists for us who have been an integral part of the series as a whole from both the foreground and behind the scenes.
It was also Yozuru's Koimonogatari. That story which gave us another way to view her. True, it didn't go in as far as Koi did into Kaiki's thoughts but it gave us a clearer view of how nice she can be without losing sight of her job as solidified with her proclamation to Araragi that "I don't use my powers on humans".
To Yozuru, while she's self-righteous, she is still self-aware enough to at least keep normal humans out of it.
Tsuki was the booster shot Yozuru needed.
Ougi is araragi, to beat ougi they have to reveal her true identity. She sticked a snail-like oddity to oshino and thats why he's missing Oshino saves ougi by keeping up the lie that its his niece.
These episodes had some good faces
Numachi's speech brought down the story a bit. While she was necessary for Kanbaru's development. She was basically out of nowhere and she droned on for 1 1/2 episodes. Now we all love Nisio talking but this wasn't the usual back and forth banter. It was one girl speaking and that's difficult to make interesting.
Shinobu and Gahara were perfect this time around. My fucking heart.
Is there any greater joy than bullying the little girl?
Depends. She would probably fight a Full-powered, non-suicidal Kiss-shot just to get off but I don't think she's so unaware that she wouldn't know she wouldn't get absolutely fucked up.
The fact she shit-talks Shinobu is fucking amazing. Even if she's just the former-Kiss-shot. She's still got the potential to revert and Shinobu is probably going to remember that upstart to gave her lip
>He doesn't have an RSS reader built into his torrent client
Step it up
>Shinobu will not allow Araragi to die
Don't mind me, just posting best girl
The manga will read like this. If that's how you want your manga, you may as well just read the LN
What does he see /a/?
No seriously, what do they have on her figurine?
Hitagi end isn't the END, if you catch my drift
Atleast it will be more pure the Shinobus scale.
Also, what was with this episode and name dropping figurines? They did it for the Fire sisters, Yotsugi, and Kagenui.
Didn't think people wouldn't actually get the pun.
I choose to pretend I don't understand. Explain to me as you would an immortal loli explaining the concept of a possibly expanded lifespan to her servant.
if you have a web dev addon of some kind then block the <s> tag.
Shinobu best pantsu
Then again, Oshino managed to steal Kiss-shot's fucking heart without her even noticing. And Kagenui is the strongest specialist, an expert in exterminating immortal oddities. I wouldn't be too sure about the result.
Oshino stole the heart from a depressed Kiss-shot. She was basically at her weakest mentally. If Kiss-shot existed now that she's gone through her character development and decided she actually wants to live again, Yozuru wouldn't stand a chance.
If Yozuru had been in Kizumonogatari instead of Oshino, I think she could have actually probably brute-forced her way into getting the heart successfully but Kizu was heavily influenced by the fact Kiss-shot wasn't really giving that many fucks about living.
If the wizard was the only one as powerful as Kagenui and Ononoki one shotted him. A weak Shinobu could beat her easily.
My question, why didn't they just BTFO Kagenui if he comes a vamp again?
That sort of implies they didn't realize it was happening until it was already over, which makes no sense, considering how crazily informed they all are about everything. It implies they could do nothing to stop her.
They never said Tadatsuru was as powerful as Yozuru, they said he was an immortal oddity hunter like Yozuru and that the parallels come from that.
Also Yozuru probably has a way to deal with oddities like Araragi who aren't used to their powers. We know she can take a Teen Shinobu-level Araragi in a straight fight and that's around the level he was when he fought I think either Episode or Guillotinecutter.
She was the perfect way to end it.
Such a great arc.
To counter my own point: it's a translation for Monogatari, which probably isn't going to be enjoyable if you don't have a baseline knowledge of Japanese. So I guess "Oni-chan" is fine.
So what's the worst arc so far and why is it
>it's a translation for Monogatari, which probably isn't going to be enjoyable if you don't have a baseline knowledge of Japanese
That's a baseless assumptionlly. Ultimately you can use notes to convey what subs eloquently can't. And it's not like notes are an uncommon practice even outside anime.
but it had best girl in it, how can it be bad?
I laughed at this for a couple minutes
Why was it so funny
I don't think that was a deliberate choice. I think she only put out two futons assuming one of the girls would roll over to her side at some point.
Araragi questions why there isn't three futons knowing that Kanbaru was trying to get up in his Imouto Game.
Rozen Suruga. It's just a show about a bunch of Kanbaru dolls playing basketball and drinking tea. The only way to become the Rozen Suruga is to slam the other dolls so hard in a basketball match that they give up on living
Dayum son, dat whole fucking bath scene. My boner was pleased.
Yeah, but they leave "shikigami" and "tsukumogami" untranslated without ever defining them, so I'm chalking it up to a lack of competence.
Many of the lines were poorly worded or worded so awkwardly as to change the meaning drastically.
not enough of Kagenui's feet
You just know that they're going to bitch out on Kiss-shots memory technique.
>Hey bro, stick your hand in your head and swish that bitch around. That's the best way to remember something.
Shinobu and Araragi had a long talk about how Araragi was watching precure despite the season that he was watching hadn't came out in the year that the LN was set in yet.
Or Hitagi talking about how her and Hanekawa really bonded doing the audio commentary for Bakemonogatari.
>Yeah, but they leave "shikigami" and "tsukumogami" untranslated without ever defining them, so I'm chalking it up to a lack of competence.
There is no English equivalent. They are special magic creatures of Buddhist and Shinto origin respectively. There is no way to translate without cliff-notes.
tsukumogami is Buddist in origin, changing its meaning over time but in general relate to the idea that really old inanimate objects, usually made by humans, can become alive and sentient. Many Japanese monsters are tsukumogami, with the classic one being an umbrella with one eye and long tongue.
Shikigami is Shinto, and is a type of magic servant created by Onmyojis, Japanese Sorcerers. Shikigami are inanimate objects deliberately infused with sous via magic and become servants. The traditional portrayal is of origami humanoids made of paper, as you saw near the end of the show.
Try to explain these two terms via translation alone is impossible.
It signifies a sense of change. Linked with the seasons of agriculture, a fundamental principle of modern human. When you cut the hair, you are asking for a change in not only appearance but also mentally.
Or in Buddhism, cutting hair signifies letting go of the past.
>average laundry room leads into fuckhuge bathroom
Yozuru was present in Tsuki like twice, comparing it to Koi in that aspect is ridiculous.
Specialists played a bigger role than usual but we learned very little about them comparatively.
Hana was way too drawn out as it is. If anything they needed to cut 30 or 40 minutes off of it and replace ghost girl talking about herself with, as you said, more tension and attraction.
They do make out though. During the ED. Though I get what you mean, they really should have pulled their shit together and made the Kanbaru/Numachi sexual tension actually tintillating/canon
Great scene. Shinobu was so fucking cute throughout. Tsukihi and Youtsugi-chan were also very adorable. Great overall.
Not much going on as far as really important or interesting plot, and the animation was hit or miss, great sometimes, and a little lazy in other places, (but that's SHAFT for you, and I love them anyway,) but all the girls were cute, Kagenui was badass and elegant as usual, and good God DAT FANSERVICE was just fucking choice.
>I'm wondering how the "vampires don't reflect" thing works now.
Monogatari world works via human belief. Reality changes depending on human culture.
In real life, the reflect myth came from the fact that mirrors were once coated with silver, and silver is anti-evil. Also there is another interpretation of saying the mirror shows the soul, and that vampire don't have souls.
None of that matters in Monogatari though, as their rules are very well defined; if enough humans believe in it, then it comes true. If people stop believing, or change their belief, the truth becomes undone and evolve to something else.
As the thread has stated. Numachi's long ass monologue. That's pretty much it. Normally Monogatari is pretty solid on how it dishes out information but that just dragged on something fierce. At least we got Kaiki before it and Araragi after it.
It was the second time in my entire life where I was actually excited to see Araragi, the first time was Neko White when he became a bad motherfucker and one-hit an oddity of Kako's level while being actually, legitimately, cool as fuck. Like Oshino levels of cool for that one moment.
It didn't to the work to get its audience invested in the Kanbaru-Numachi dynamic, then dragged like hell in the middle as Numachi has a massive monologue with few interesting visuals to back it up. Conversely, during the long info dump in Tsukimonogatari, the visuals frequently cut to Shinobu and Yotsugi playing in the background which keeps things entertaining throughout.
Oh, that actually was? My downloads have it as OP as well but I distinctly remember it being at the end so I figured they fucked up and just misnamed the OP and ED.
Putting it at the start would have been a terrible idea if it wasn't canon. It'd just be setting up for a relationship that never happens in show
I liked Hana, and I thought it was a great adaption and very well animated.
It's just one of the weaker novels. Nomachi isn't that interesting of a character and she got a ton of screen time. And the actual themes weren't that interesting, and frankly, as much as I love Kanbaru, she's just not very entertaining as a narrator.
So, is Tsuki's ED the best Monogatari ED? At least in terms of animation, I think it tops the rest of them.
Why don't Karen and Tsuki consent to a threesome since they both want Ararararagi so much?
Who are some of these people supposed to be?
From top left to right, it looks like Hanekawa, Senjougahara, Nadeko (?) Kanbaru
Then bottom left to right, Yozuru, blank, Oshino, Kaiki, Ougi(?)
Could anyone make a webm of Arararagi shaking the maracas?
The entire frog scene was adorable.
I am getting sick of the fanservice.
I used to love Monogatari, but now I can only watch shows which fetishize moe and "healing" anime.
I am pretty sure the problem is just me, and not the show.
He died like a bitch. She killed him because she isn't human, and doesn't have the same moral trappings that a human would have. Though to be fair if some guy is trying to kill you and has kidnapped a bunch of people, I am pretty sure it is OK to fight back.
I'd guess they'll probably aim for a second-half of the year adaption for Owari but I'm not really holding out any hope. SHAFT has made me a broken man by dashing my hopes one too many times.
They always produce good shit for Monogatari though and that restores a little of my faith every time.
The ending was all set up for the rest of season 3, Tsuki isn't a fully 100% stand alone story, it's only the beginning of the end. They tell you this at the very beginning very clearly.
And yes the guy is dead, he realized he was being used as a pawn in a scheme to turn Koyomi into a vampire and chooses to be killed instead, and again, he straight up tells you this. Just because Koyomi responds "durr I'm dense I don't get it" doesn't mean you have to be dense and not get it either.
What you're not told yet is who this person is that is using the hermit as a pawn and their motives; though I can guarantee you can at least guess the who.
You're not going to say Ougi, are you? Based on the spoilers ITT about who Ougi is that doesn't make sense. How would Ougi know who that dude was and use him as a pawn if they hadn't met him before?
Are you retarded? Before Kissshot started making an army, her rage was still limited to Araragi's town.
Oshino's letter was written when him and the other exorcists were gonna attempt to stop Kissshot at Ground Zero aka Araragi's town but they failed and Kissshot was free to move past Ground Zero and end the world.
I thought plebs like you were gone from these threads already but apparently there are Oshinofags who don't read Kizu or did read Kizu but ignore everything they read, afterwards.
Not really. I think Kagenui just views Kisshot as the ultimate final boss, the masterpiece of all immortals.
She probably just wants to fight Kissshot just for the sake of it before Old Age and creaky bones start catching up to her.
go to a streaming site and skip through the video you stupid shota
Figured I go look for the belly button scene. Completely forget Senjougahara's ass ripples when she smacks it.
Are the other girls there references as well?
Sayaka confirmed lewdest girl.
Already has a box full of pocky sticks she wants to feed Araragi with, with her own mouth.
Kyouko impatiently already has a pocky stick in her mouth.
Meanwhile, Madoka and Homura want to join but are too shy.
The big question is what happened to Mami when Araragi is a known Tits Man?
Madoka is literally praying for the strength to stay lesbian in Araragi's presence. No amount of time-travel by Homura is going to stop "The Straightening of Madoka Kaname"
>Your face when Shaft are such cheap faggots that they were too lazy to give Kanbaru's grandma a character design and just had Kanbaru's eyeball show the Japanese word for grandma.
>Your face when no Monogatari GILF porn because of this.
>Also, your face when no doujin of Araragi groping the breasts of every girl in his high school because of the rumors Kanbaru spread.
What is this scene trying to convey?
So damn cute
She did, and before Erorogi washed her
Why didn't Shaft animate Tsukihi's scenes in Neko, then? Too hardcore for them?
What's wrong with Araragi playing with Tsukihi's breasts using his feet?
Or discussing her underwear collection?
I wish Araragi was strong enough to embarrass Kagenui but he's not even fast enough to steal her bra.
Maybe Araragi could try stealing Kagenui's shoes and see if she would become helpless.
>Kiss-shot is overpowered
>Kiss-shot can create anything
>Kiss-shot can create kai, humans, blood packs
>Araragi and Kiss-shot can live on as vampires without killing or hurting anyone
>But they don't
>What exactly is the "Unlimited Rulebook?"
The name is just a funny terms.
The attack is just the Doll detonating her body selectively, and then near instantly regenerate the damage bodypart. Think of it like an exploding zombie bomb, but that she can chain cast it. And we found out that she can use it as a method of propulsion.
>He wants to be human
>abuses his vampire powers all the time
>to the point of him turning more into a vampire
He just doesn't want to hurt anyone, but Kiss-shot has a solution for that.
i fucking loved araragi in these episodes
Best MC for sure
>What is the si
gnificance of the cross shape that appears on Kagenui, Yotsugi, and the other specialists?
Paper golems. Pic related, their appearance in the Spirited Away film.
Doll is essentiall a golem made of human flesh rather than paper.
He did embarrass Yozuru, he fucking wrecked her entire life philosophy and forced her to consider that the petty villain Kaiki had enough of a point that she should probably act more like Oshino in how she deals with shit.
He'd never be able to embarrass her any other way but proving to her she's being a hypocritical little shit is the best you're going to get.
Given how she treats Shinobu, the former King of Oddities, I think Araragi getting his ass kicked and still getting Yozuru to admit defeat was an astounding win.
Karen and Tsukihi looked awfully happy about him walking in on them changing.
Someone needs to stop this man.
>Humans are made of matter.
>口 Kiss-shot can create humans
Nope. Humans has psychic powers that generate all magic in the world. That power is what gives Oddities their abilities, thus Kiss Shot can make matter, but magic can't make magic.
>I doubt she can create a soul
Do you really need a soul for physical sustenance?
> magic can't make magic.
How do they regenerate instantly then?
You're acting under the assumption that Monogatari humans are identical to actual humans, which obviously isn't the case given that they're the ones who create supernatural creatures like Kiss-shot in the first place.
Besides, even if she didn't need to kill humans, she would still do so because that's what vampires are meant to do.
>Do you really need a soul for physical sustenance?
It isn't physical sustenance. You don't get it; Vampires exist because people believe it. Vampires drink blood because people believe it. Sustenance has nothing to do with it. She either does it properly or the Darkness would go after her.
>How do they regenerate instantly then?
They regenerate instantly because people believe they do. Once again, humans fuel that, externally.
She only needs blood because humans imagined her as such.
Besides she needs blood to do vampire things, if she used up a shit-ton of blood only to make up blood it wouldn't get anywhere.
I wish we got more submissive Araragi, it's one of my favorite aspects of their relationship.
Kiss-shot has been proven to regenerate ordinary humans, herself, and her servant. She can definitely create or at least replicate a human.
She then uses that replication as food and all other human's who see her eat would be none the wiser; therefore fulfilling all her conditions as a vampire.
>Monogatari humans are identical to actual humans
You are going to have to explain further. Where in the series have you seen a monogatari human and a regular human?
> if she used up a shit-ton of blood only to make up blood
She has infinite power (unless her power is supressed). She needs to feed every 2 weeks, no matter how much or how little power she uses. There is no ratio or even evidence that she uses her blood to create things. Use the fight scene in Kizu for a reference.
I was seriously expecting Karen to jump in for a 3-way or something. Oh well.
>all the lewd pics of Tsukihi, Karen, Ononoki
yea yea yea but now lets get to the part that is REALLY important
Araragis fucking 8 pack
when I win da lotto, I'm building this fucking bathroom
>There is no ratio or even evidence that she uses her blood to create things
Araragi requires her blood to heal serious injuries, she required his blood to materialize different clothes and to grow up a bit.
Araragi lucked out by becoming a vampire. Even if he never gets to use his powers again, he's still going to be ripped for the rest of his life and he can get any bitch he wants if he takes his shirt off.
Let me tell you why it won't work: because a vampire that creates its own humans to feed on feels like cheating, or something that isn't really a vampire. With the way kaii work in Monogatari, this perception is what defines possibility for Kiss-Shot.
Stop pulling shit out of your ass, son
Yozuru was completely happy to destroy Shinobu's newly built up pride though. The fact is, Yozuru destroyed Shinobu in that banter and it was amazing. Beating the Queen of Smug with just her verbal skills alone.
She did to Shinobu what Araragi did to her. Talked her into defeat.
Like you said, it took Araragi to even convince Shinobu that she was protecting him to keep her pride.
just think of the steaks you could make on those things.
>i have never utter a more homosesual phrase in my life
Though I don't necessarily agree with him, I understand what he's saying.
Basically, all you have to do is to keep up the illusion. So, even if you get nowhere blowing onto the sails of the ship you're on, the sails will still make it look like you're moving to those people far away - and that's all you're trying to accomplish.
It's alright, anon. It's not gay. Just say its Vampiric Charisma like Hanekawa said
If Araragi was just a few inches taller, she would have lucked out. No-one can be that lucky
They are both very close to just regular humans. Shinobu doesn't suck his blood to heal wounds or materialize things, she does so they both become more vampire. As their vampirism grows, they get stronger.
>feels like cheating
> perception is what defines
Its human's who create kaiis. So if Kiss-shot replicates a human and eats it in front of another human, that human is of course going to perceive her eating a human. Its the human's perception of Kiss-shot as a vampire that matters. It doesn't matter whether the kaii itself feels like it is cheating or not.
So basically, it should work.
Yes, you've just got a case of Hype and you'll just need to wait a few days to wait for it to die down before you can safely check yourself before you wreck yourself.
A stapler in the mouth is bad for your health
It makes sense. Even after rewatching the series a fuckload of times, this is the first time I feel like I've gotten a hold on who Tsukihi is, just because she's finally gotten enough screen time to be a solid character.
>Kurayami would destroy any vampire that tried to because they're not acting as vampires.
To the human's perception, Kiss-shot would be fulfilling all conditions of being a vampire.
Besides, Kiss-shot has already proven that she doesn't have most of the vampire's weaknesses. This means she is already going against the human idea of what a vampire is; yet Kurayami doesn't go after her.
So if she half-cheats and creates her own food, since she is still fulfilling a large amount of properties of a vampire, Kurayami shouldn't go after her.
>Shinobu doesn't suck his blood to heal wounds or materialize things, she does so they both become more vampire. As their vampirism grows, they get stronger.
Read the LN fag, Shinobu needed his blood to make glasses and the little girl uniform in Kabuki.
Araragi has needed her blood to regenerate quite a few times.
Araragi mentioned this himself. He made an oath to not become a vampire no matter what, but knew it wasn't an oath he really believed in. The whole deal with Yotsugi was to show what it means to be a monster and not a human. Go back and watch the scene where Araragi drops Yotsugis skirt and think about what's going on there
>So if Kiss-shot replicates a human and eats it in front of another human,
You assume that the replicate human is even human. It is very clear that the Monogatari humans are NOT just a bundle of meat, they are in essence, the real gods of their own universe.
>Shinobu needed his blood to make glasses and the little girl uniform in Kabuki.
No. She needed his blood so she could become more of a vampire so she could make glasses and the little girl uniform in Kabuki.
>Araragi has needed her blood to regenerate quite a few times.
No. Araragi has never needed her blood.
No human thought Mayoi was shirking her duties. All the humans around to witness Kiss-Shot acting as a goddess thought that she was actually a goddess. They still got chased down by Kurayami.
Why are you trying so hard to decide that canon doesn't work the way that it works?
>Besides, Kiss-shot has already proven that she doesn't have most of the vampire's weaknesses. This means she is already going against the human idea of what a vampire is
Actually no. Day-walkers are a known class of vampires. The original Dracula of the novel was a day walker. And Shinobu isn't immune to sunlight, she just regenerates as fast as she is being burned.
>30 minutes of pure fanservice, just araragi and sister lusting for each others in the bath
>suddenly 1 hour of INFO DUMP INFO DUMP and fuckloads of overcomplicated plot
jesus christ what a mess, this is why LN adaptations are always shit
For the week Araragi was a vampire and used his powers for various fights and regeneration, did he have to suck blood even once? No. Did his power seem to weaken at all? No.Your argument is a fallacy.
>mfw 6' even and my car is so tiny, my knees hit the steering wheel when I drive, even with my seat as far back as it can go
To be fair, Araragi was a servant of a vampire, not necessarily one himself.
