>still no anime to this day reaching the depth, scope and ambition of LotGH
>Watch more anime.
LotGH could never be made today. Not because of it's themes those are still strikingly relevant. Not because of the scope of the project because a lot of sure sell anime run a lot longer than LotGH has. I think what is truly unmatched about the Legend of the Galactic Heroes is the intricacy of the setting and the character, it's broth of genre makes it almost ... like a simulacrum of reality.
1)My Conquest is the Sea of Stars film
2)Overture to a New War film
3)Main OVA series, starting from episode 3
Overture to a New War was just a cinematic version of the first two episodes with a lot of added content and better animation quality
That's my favourite piece of music used in the show. Here's a version with no Japanese men speaking over the top: http://youtu.be/r30D3SW4OVw
Also, did you guys know the show was almost dubbed? Would you watch this:http://youtu.be/AH_UalbaFmQ
I don't think that even the fanbase can prove how the story was good and not even dragging. Honestly the illness of this kind of fanbase they like to talk about random and geeky stuff that only few people care or enjoy. Thats why there are so much bias.
>everyone sound generically American
For what purpose? In the original each character's voice fit them perfectly. Bittenfeld's rough voice, Wakamoto as Reuental was perfect, Yang's voice was kind, humble and gentle, which perfectly reflects him, Annerose's voice was motherly and almost brittle.
One of the main things I'm worried about, concerning the upcoming adaptation, is the VA cast. Like I said, the VAs in the original were perfect.
Yeah, I can't really see anyone outdoing the original actors. Reinhard seriously sounded like a natural leader, I don't even speak the same language as him but if he yelled some stuff at me and pointed at Rosenritter I'd probably feel compelled to try and kill them with my bare hands.
Tanaka just finished writing the final novel. It goes on sale pretty soon. I doubt we'll ever get another anime though. It didn't do so well.
That being said, the Arlsan remake should be pretty good too, though the character designs sorta suck compared to Amano's old ones.
The reason why we will never get another LotGH is because anime is pretty much dead. It's all moeshit and otaku pandering now. Anime has lost all of its artistic value and has turned into just an industry. The last bastion of good anime is Yuasa, but even he will stop at some point in the near future. And what then? The medium will be saturated by big-eyed cute girls doing cute things SoL garbage that the moepigs will gobble on enthusiastically. It's over.
Like you watching movie about war. You watching it not because of the story but because you're interested to one particular weapon that they use. You don't give a fuck about the story at all .
LoGH is my favourite anime of all time and I am, as we speak, watching Yuasa's Kemonozume. But there is absolutely no reason for elitism, "moe is shit" and "muh good old anime". It makes it very clear you're new to the medium.
How is it?? Don't try your reserve psychology corruption techniques on me. You are powerless, I have already recognized the truth.
It seems you are the new one who didn't witness the perversion of the medium in the 2000s. Go watch some more shows (yes, even moeshit) before spouting your inane opinions. If you have enough intellectual capacity, even someone like you will be able to see the problem.
Yeah, I there's definitely room for improvement in LoGH, which the remake could fix.
There's been some negativity in previous threads about the animation and sure that's a first step. But I would like to see a kickass original soundtrack and not just use classical music which was although was great and fit the show lacks originality.
The best that could be done to improve LoGH would obviously be the animation and/or battles being expressed better.
Now, in regards to writing I'd welcome change regarding the Terrans. Making them less comical would be nice (although I know they are supposed to symbolize religious fanaticism).
>witness the perversion of the medium in the 2000s
Haha you realise how pathetic you sound right now, right?
Anime was never "art". "Moe", otaku-pandering and fanservice have existed from the very beginning. You're just noticing it more now since the amount of anime produced per year has increased, and the ratio of moe:non-moe seems larger. It isn't. The ratio is exactly the same as it was back in the "golden age", just look at any chart of releases for the 90s.
Anime has always been a medium whose target audience has exclusively been otaku. I'd say the target audience is broader nowadays than it ever was in the past. You're new to anime if you want people to take your hobby seriously, and get angry that they can't because moe anime exist.
You don't know SHIT about anime, kid. In fact I don't think you like anime as a medium, you just like your edgy, cool grimdark anime so you don't feel ashamed about watching what is essentially just cartoons in Japanese.
>N-no mom I'm not a pedo! Look at how contrived and poorly w- I mean sophisticated and well written the plot is! There are guys everywhere, not attractive females or little girls!
>There are explosions, Dad! It's mature! I-I'm not gay, I just can't find a girlfriend that'll put up with my snobbish, arrogant, obnoxious, neckbearded, abrasive personality!
>The colour palette is dark so it must be good!
Read the fucking thread, there was a link posted to news about it.
They could also keep the terrans silly and go more in-depth about the drug or poison they were using. Depends on what the author intended, I should give those incomplete novel translations a try one day.
Whether the perversion occured in the 2000s or not doesn't really combat his opinions which plenty of people share.
Jokes on you though, my father would probably enjoy LoGH. he fucking loved Akagi and Kaiji.
>Anime was never "art"
Yes, it was. How stupid and fucking new you must be to claim such an outrageous thing?
>"Moe", otaku-pandering and fanservice have existed from the very beginning.
LOL, you moepigs are fucking delusional. Anime was defined by the works of Tezuka which were anything but targeted at otaku. You are fucking retarded newshit who thinks he knows everything because he parrots what the other newshits on 4chinz spout. Just kill yourself out of this board.
>In fact I don't think you like anime as a medium, you just like your edgy, cool grimdark anime so you don't feel ashamed about watching what is essentially just cartoons in Japanese.
Typical projection for a newfag pleb like you. I don't like edgy grimdark stuff at all, and unlike you I don't feel any less of a man for watching anime. Go back to Facebook now.
I agree with you mostly, except that anime sales have statistically gone down in the past ten years, and there's less people watching the shows on TV. Dramas are where it's at atm in japan.
>Anime was never "art".
Anime is and always was art.
>Anime has always been a medium whose target audience has exclusively been otaku.
How can you pretend to know anything when you spew out shit like this? I don't even need to point out westaboo shows like Cowboy Bebop, the existence of children's anime already disproves that.
You're right on most points, but you honestly sound like a parrot.
This guy LITERALLY did nothing wrong.
If you disagree with this fact, you didn't watch the show
What about that one time he had Kircheis disarm literally just for the sake of feeding his own ego and which led to the death of Kircheis and almost led to the death of hiss boss?
Or that one time he helped goad the new second in command in the empire into starting a civil war against the kaiser, causing the empire untold losses in manpower and navy?
Why is Yang Wen-Li the greatest commander in anime?
That's not how you spell Lelouch
>Thinking Lelouch is relevant
