No it wasn't. If anything, the 70s and early 80s were the golden age of animation in Japan. It was a time before otaku become the primary audience for anime, and we saw quite a lot of fantastic series come out because of it. The industry was still fresh. And don't you dare tell me that all generations had shit that's been or will be forgotten. Sure it's true, but the percentage of worthwhile series have not increased as production as increased. There were much less anime produced in the 70s, and yet even in the Western world we remember a good percentage of it, and a good deal of it is subbed.
