What the fuck happened to anime? Anime used to have amazing, original stories that stay relevant and ground breaking years later. Now, anime is just based on shitty manga and light novels, like SNK, Sword Art Online, and Amagi Brilliant Park. Where is this generations Cowboy Bebop? Where is this generations Evangelion? Anime is dying and there is no one that can save it.

all anime have some dumb episodes, but Bebops story based episodes make up for it. you can't name one anime without a couple stupid episodes
>>
look closer. moonphase was excellent, chobits, EL, aku no hana would've been if the director escaped his own pretense.

the problem is more and more otaku pandering, less of some genius coming in and realizing a vision. we are more and more efficient at generating "feelies" than works of art. i doubt we will see another product of genius like NGE for another 50 years

Anime was dying when Gundam came out

Anime was dying when Sailor Moon came out

Anime was dying when Evangelion came out

Anime was dying when Cowboy Bebop came out

Anime was dying when The Tatami Galaxy came out

By the way all of these shows were for hipsters and didn't make their studios any money. The ones making cash are eroge tie-ins and harem shows for otaku, you dumb motherfucker.

Show me the FLCL of the last 10 years /a/

you can't

Just admit that quality has taken a back step for quantity, but dont worry this is a natural cycle of good generation followed by a shit generation and then a revival.

There have been plenty of shows to come out that bullshit every episode yet had a story behind them.

I fucking hate people like you. "Woe is me, all new anime is shit. Why can't everything be like the '90s?" Nigger have you run out of '90s anime or something? Have you watched every single thing that came out of that decade? It's 2014 and you have Internet access, go watch it. Oh wait, you'll probably hate all of it because it's EXACTLY THE SAME SHIT AS TODAY. And don't give that shading argument because all you mentioned was story. It's really fucking pathetic when such an exaggerated image still manages to accurately portray the mindset of some people.

>>118950447
No, you've got it the other way around. You think it's "dying" because you thought it was some higher art and now you're seeing the forest for the trees. We already run with that paradigm; that's exactly why we're so dismissive of 95% of the shows we come across because when you've seen 300-400+ series your point of view changes dramatically.

Going "hurr anime is all shit now it should all be coobuoy beepboop" shows just how far behind you are in so many ways; don't even attempt to speak out on shit you know nothing about (but think you do).

You don't really believe that, do you?

>>118948251
>Anime was dying when Gundam came out
No it wasn't. If anything, the 70s and early 80s were the golden age of animation in Japan. It was a time before otaku become the primary audience for anime, and we saw quite a lot of fantastic series come out because of it. The industry was still fresh. And don't you dare tell me that all generations had shit that's been or will be forgotten. Sure it's true, but the percentage of worthwhile series have not increased as production as increased. There were much less anime produced in the 70s, and yet even in the Western world we remember a good percentage of it, and a good deal of it is subbed.

>>118950125
>Why can't everything be like the '90s?
The 90s were awful.

Anything that wasn't Gundam, Macross, Votoms or other overhyped trash was fucking SHIT. boring LN adapatations are better than literal cartoons.
