I can never decide whether cat-Shiki or bunny-Shiki is more apt. The novels make a good case for both, really. Shiki's flightiness and aversion to affection and contact is fairly rabbit-like, but you can see the cat in her pride, slothfulness, aloofness and grudgingly acknowledged desire to be loved.

Either is fine, really. They're both pretty good: the novels have some characterization the films leave out but the films are pretty beautiful and have great cinematography, especially the fifth.

One thing to consider is that the sixth chapter is butchered by the film adaptation so if you read the novel beforehand you might end up being fairly upset about it.
