The only reason I watched this week was to see Venus stick a sword in Beryl.
I should have known better.
Also, a whole season of Shitennou redemption buildup, and then all zapped by Metallia into dust.
This is quite stupid, I must say.

Oh God, that was terrible. I was tempted to stop when the Sailors started crying after Shitennou's death, then it got even worse.
It's not following the manga anymore, not even close.
Wow I usually enjoy the episodes but this was terrible. They didn't bother to animate any fighting between the Shittenou and the Senshi, Beryl could have pushed Usagi aside instead of just standing there and some really forced/ badly executed drama. Wow I'm honestly shocked at how bad it was.
That was so bad holy fuck. Of course they had to change Venus killing Beryl because only Usagi is allowed to actually defeat someone. The shitennou were pointless, they should've just killed them off like in the manga. Wasn't that the point anyways, to follow the manga?
This whole Sailor Moon Crystal thing has to be the worst franchise comeback I have ever seen, and Toei just have to do the bare minimum because 30 year old women are buying their vintage junk which makes it even more irksome
>This whole Sailor Moon Crystal thing has to be the worst franchise comeback I have ever seen
Could be worse
>anyone but Usagi
>doing anything at all
If it was then they fucked up big time.
The whole point was to make easy money from merchandise, BR and rights to stream. Lots of people put their nostalgia glasses on so it wasn't very hard.
If I remember right, they said that this adaptation would have more input from Naoko. That led people to think it would be more in line with her vision for Sailor Moon. Then the vision sucked.
Sailor Moon from the beginning was Naoko's attempt to "fix" Sailor V.
Having Usagi kill Beryl is the final expression of this shunning of Minako for her favored creation, Usagi.
Codename: Sailor V anime never.
>Lots of people put their nostalgia glasses on so it wasn't very hard.
Are you kidding? I know a guy from another board who loved SM so much he and his wife planned a vacation to Japan for it and he thought SMC was dogshit from the get go.
I can't believe how fucking far down the shithole this series went after just one episode, and that's saying something since the series was really shitty before.
I don't want a second season anymore, I love the outer scouts but it's just not worth keeping this abomination alive.
In theory, there would be nothing wrong with Sailor Moon as the inexperienced hero princess being something she'd want to explore instead of Sailor V's sexy british crimefighting
>That led people to think it would be more in line with her vision for Sailor Moon. Then the vision sucked.
It's ironically even more
sexist. The freakin' OP lyrics are an utter lie
I'm usually on Tumblr and lots of people are rabid about defending their precious Crystal Pride, honestly, it's funny to watch. They calmed down as the series got worse and worse with each episode and after today's failure of an episode, pretty much no one is left standing.
>"we're not little girls who need to be protected by men"
>they can't do anything on their own, need to be told everything and by protected by a man
Well, at least it's realistic.
>they're going to shit all over the Black Moon Clan
Naoko's attempt to revive a beloved franchise and not totally defecate over its fond memories.
If only she knew someone who knew how to do that properly.
Tuxedo Mask saved the girls on every episode and "now, Sailor Moon" was almost a catchphrase but I guess the fact he quickly became a comic relief and sidekick helped a lot
I kinda feel bad for Tohru Furuya, considering he signed the contract because he wanted to play a dark mysterious bishounen and finally receiving all the recognition he deserves but his character was a comic relief. Meanwhile, Crystal Mamoru is a dark mysterious bishounen played straight but Furuya wasn't hired despite he sounds the same as 20 years ago
Or it's just a sign that Naoko finally noticed the horrible quality Toei is putting out and decided to withdraw her support, leading to Toei just starting to do whatever the hell they want.
The filler did a good job padding an otherwise bland story and allow time for character building. Also gave it a comedic element, which has been absent from Crystal.
I'd say many if not most of the fond memories a lot of fans have of the original series can be traced to some filler moments rather than the core plot.
Nah, I'm not talking about that stuff. I'm talking about things like the skiing episode.
The anime did a much better job of building up the romance with Moon and Mask, not just because they had more time, but because they actually had a back and forth.
Yeah, they should have at least gone down like heroes. Metallia could try to vaporize the sailor soldiers but then the generals die trying to protect them. This just makes them look like chumps.
So great, now Minako really is fucking pointless. I felt like she was irrelevant in the 90's anime and in the live action. Why do they always give her the short end of the stick?
I have a great love for Sailor Moon but SMC is garbage. Nostalgia be damned. I think the only person who thinks SMC is good is ThatAnimeSnob. He even put it on his top 60 anime list. It's not even complete yet.
Agreed, I don't want the Outer Senshi tainted by this mess. They can throw in Pluto if they want but leave Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus alone. Whelp, no Sailor Cosmos is coming and I think that will be okay now.
Neptune will matter even less and Uranus will be even more a bitch than she was in the manga or they'll have absolutely no personality like everyone in Crystal.
Yes. I can honestly say now that they did the right thing in not making a perfect adaptation of the manga.
As for the filler, I used to hate it , but now that I see an animated version of Sailor Moon without that said filler to flesh out the characters and their world, I think it was fine.
Surprising anything that you wait two weeks for, then two weeks, then three weeks, can become routine at all.
And this is the problem. People, including myself, are only watching this out of some sense of obligation and because it's Sailor Moon.
It's bad and we know it's only going to continue down that path. It's a trainwreck, yet just can't look away.
And I will never get over Sailor Moon's "solution" and its one of the main things that made me lose respect for her in the manga. The anime/live action version of Usagi would have never done something so selfish. I understand that she is a 14 year old girl who had to kill her boyfriend, but to then turn around and attempt suicide? Seriously? There were still enemies that needed to be defeated. Queen Metaria is trying to take ever the world and destroy peace - and she wants to just off herself.
We've been over this.
Manga is a straight up love story that displays the emotional weakness of the main character.. and how she overcomes it.
Anime is straight
>MUH POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
>Sailor Moon's "solution"
Somebody in early production just needed to have the balls to tell Naoko "no", we are not doing it that way.
So instead lets just glorify not just suicide, but seemingly pointless suicide, in one of the countries with the highest suicide rates in the world.
This whole fiasco is the opposite of an empowering anime. I hope she's proud.
You can't escape the long arm of the law
>original manga has shitty Mary Sue heroine and the entire story and its characters revolves around her
>let's make it about her even more
Ikuhara's version is objectively better than manga or Crystal.
I've been watching this all season long and lying to myself. It was good I assured myself, these idiots on the Internet don't know what they're talking about. But goddamn did this episode prove me wrong. It was cringe after cringe, and the sparing of the shittennou was such a giant waste of time. I mean, I knew they'd end up dying, they had to. But I didn't expect it to be so goddamn stupid.
Even as far from the manga as it was at times, the original did a far better job of conveying its darker tones.
HxH 2011 was complete shit especially during Chimera Ant where it should have been way better but they decided to have a bad narrator talk over stills every episode while nothing happens without the cool moments in the manga like the timer.
I personally feel as thought their relationship was "cuter" in the manga but the filler from the anime definitely fleshed things out in terms of their relationship and gave it time to really grow. I have to say though that Mamoru's English counterpart was downright nasty to Usagi in my opinion and that it why it turned me off to their relationship somewhat (I include Rei, Luna, and Chibi Usa's behavior in this as well. The NA version really fucked things up in terms of characterization).
As for what other female fans may claim about their relationship in the manga, that's because they take issue with Mamoru's true feelings overall for Usagi in the manga. I've read forum posts stating that Mamoru only wants to be with Usagi purely because it is a part of his destiny to do so and they feel that it didn't come across that way in the manga. I wasn't surprised to find that those who think this way wanted Usagi to be with Seiya instead.
Let us pray that there will be no other arcs. There is no need for Toei to fuck this up any further than they already have. If this is the version that had been released back in the 90's, it would have become a quickly forgotten relic of the past like Space Runaway Ideon. Yeah, it would have inspired someone to make something better (Ideon = Evangelion), but that's it. I honestly believe that.
Someone please explain to me how manga Usagi was NOT a mary sue? I'm not even calling her one because I disliked her character. I like all iterations of her character from print to animation, to live action but in the manga she was definitely a mary sue
>Lived in a house in Minato-ku, Japan
>Her father is a photographer who apparently made a lot of money since the family lives in a house. Not an apartment, but a HOUSE.
>All of her friends also live in Minato-ku and all of them have money as well
>Meets a handsome high schooler who plans to go to college and eventually become a doctor. He also lives in a pricey area, meaning he is rich. This guy is also the prince of the Earth, and will become King of the Earth in the future and marry the Queen of The Moon who will rule the Solar System
>She's not the smartest girl out there but she isn't stupid because she got into high school, afterall. She picks up on things quickly, she's just lazy. Also, she's VERY attractive
>She obtains one of the most powerful Star Seeds (Ginzuishou)
>Her daughter is close to perfect, is a princess, and will rule the world after her
>She will become Sailor Cosmos
>She marries her first and only love in a huge wedding at the end of the manga.
>Not a mary sue
>Somebody in early production just needed to have the balls to tell Naoko "no", we are not doing it that way.
>We've been over this
Doesn't make it any less stupid. I get that manga Usagi was weak, but the suicide made her weak and stupid. She "overcame" it due to fucking coincidence. Her mother saved her with the Ginzuishou the first time. The second time, the sword hit the watch and she just happened to knock herself out somehow.
In SMC, Usagi outright STATED before the senshi sent to the moon that she would never become a tragic princess again, unless my subtitles were fucked. What does Usagi go and do after slashing Endymion? She goes right ahead and does exactly what she said she wasn't going to do.
I think UsagixSeiya wouldn't be nearly as popular if Seiya wasn't a magical trans on the anime. I wonder how will be the reaction if Crystal reach Stars, I guess the staff will follow the manga interpretation of Seiya as a reverse trap. Fan works completely ignore Seiya is actually female
