What are some things in anime that just evoke a chuckle when they're trying to be dramatic or serious?
Whether it's because of weird dialogue, sketchy translations or just odd body language?
Pic related for me, whenever this pose pops up in anime or manga, that awkward "spread arms and legs out to protect or stop something" like the guy's trying to scare off a bear.
Is that something Japanese people do? It seems like something an autistic alien would think up if you wanted them to describe human body language.
Glasslip was funny to me for said reason above
>a character that is/was a serial killer
>nobody really cares.
CGI background students. Every time.
Shiki only killed one person. She knew what murder was better than anyone, since she had two personalities.
She killed that guy in 7 in a fit of rage because she thought he killed Mikiya.
Hard to explain but...
When there is a dire situation going on that obviously has a strick time limit to it or if someone is dying or close to death they go into a flash back or explain something when obviously there shouldn't be any time for this to even fucking happen.
>It seems like something an autistic alien would think up
The same can be said of most character actions in anime.
Most anime feels like it's been written by someone who has only viewed humans from afar.
I'm pretty forgiving of most stuff in anime. It's not quite as fluid and manic as western animation.
But that fucking standing snow angel pose. Who the hell looks at that and says, "Yes, this isn't stupid as hell."
Welcome to /a/, faggot-kun-tachi. Allow me to explain:
The huge majority of anime is cheap shit produced in studios that pay only a few yen more than your average sweatshop, if any.
As the cheap shit it is, it has to find as many shortcuts as possible. One of these shortcuts is establishing standard poses that any Korean monkey can draw. This way you say "This character is expressing [thing]" without actually showing or saying anything.
Want to show a protective character? [x] Use Protective Pose #2
Want to show a pensive character? [x] Use Pensive Pose #1.b
The only people who don't take anime for the value it has is you retards.
Final Episode of Another.
>Building is in Flames.
>No sign of waifu
>Building collapses around MC
>takes a look around
>Makes phonecall amidst sea of flames
>Doesn't even flinch
>Gets hunted by Classmates
>Lets WALK to safety
What's some anime that isn't like this?
I hate that "airy" confusing feeling that a lot of anime has, and pretty much only like the basic Western friendly ones because of this.
Manga is better simply because I can make my own head atmosphere.
Whenever characters do that bicep rubbing pose.
Most modern anime, especially ones featuring high school students, is either unintentionally hilarious due to their attempts of conveying dramatic events realistically or causes me to cringe for presuming people will see it as such.
I have no idea what's happening in the anime industry, but it just seems subtlety found in older shows like LoGH or Texhnolyze just isn’t common as it is now. Almost everything in anime has to be exactly explained to the audience, emotions are exaggerated and even directly stated instead of just expressed realistically.
I guessed that’s why I find myself reading and watching more live action TV shows more recently, because they can’t resort to stereotypical emotional reactions or archetypes that the anime industry seems to be content with.
You should have it just kept getting better the scene with school kids dying as they try to make it off the mountain had some classics along with any deaths in the mansion. Not to mention mc turned pretty autist at some points AMD gave no fucks about twin tails not even telling her valuable information that would of stopped her.
Any scene with glasses characters pushing them up even though they're all almost satire now...or forced exposition of clearly explain what's happening to the audience even though showing it on screen for everyone
