Hayama isn't the type of person to come off as a bully; I don't think Yukino and Hayama are actually in bad terms. However, it is just preferable that they part from each other as much as possible. We do know that Yukino was bullied in her childhood days (since the first episode) and that Hayama had somewhat of an involvement where other girls flaunted their envy. Considering his popularity during their childhood, there are reasons to believe that Hayama's probable confession to Yukinon might have caused all this. As you know, prepubescent girls are monsters - literally - and a popular guy in school dating a girl is something that usually could not be forgiven. As shown in the past few chapters, a misrepresented rumor spreads among the school in regards to the relationship between Hayama and Yukinonshita; what most interests me is how concerned Hayama was for the situation Yukinon may be placed in than his own, denying the rumors with anguish and resent knowing - just knowing - how bad this could be for Yukinon. In the same case, dating Miura and Iroha, two girls Hayama really does care about, could hurt them as well which is why he rejects them with the adding, "That’s impossible" when asked to date Iroha for the sake of making her happy. Anyway, Yukinon is not really a hard girl to read through - in fact, she is fairly honest with her actions - so it's best to assume that there isn't any feelings that shes hiding. This is why Hayama's actions are far more open to discussion as far as love and feelings go.

This and the episode prior had a lot of tip-toeing around Hayama, Yukino and Haruno's past.

The very next scene 8man asks Haruno about herself and she says she's 3 years older attending a College for Sciences. Yui reveals that Yukino wants to attend a public schol for sciences too, causing Haruno to become melancholy.
There's no way Hayato's attitude towards revealing his career decision to members of his clique is not related to how Yukino chased after Haruno.

I mean, I feel the whole 'opposites attract' kind of thing plays out better in which they complement each other better.
