Railgun > Index

Index is completely irredeemable. Railgun at least has the sisters arc and the manga, and I liked the first half of S1 as well. But when Railgun is bad, it's every bit as irredeemable as Index.

i really liked the sisters, they were adorable and all, but I didn't like the several episodes of all the side characters being pushed to the side for misaka to go play batman ala christian bale; I guess I got into railgun for sol and humor, and didn't mind some arcs and action, but basically it was all commiserating and drawn out fight scenes without the stuff I liked to balance it out for a while.

The Sisters arc was the main and only reason Railgun was conceived in the first place. This is a Mikoto story, not a 4-girls group SoL that the first season tried to sell.

I have never understood Mikoto's popularity.
Her crush is completely one-sided, besides falling in love with Touma she had no development at all and her actual relevance ended in volume 3; after that all she can do is shooting lightnings at things, since her involvement in the magic and keikaku is nonexistent. For the fuck's sake, she even became irrelevant in her own manga.
Even the tsundere personality isn't done right, because instead of going from tsun to dere and staying dere (which would require character development), she just tries to protect Touma or hurt Touma depending on the mood.
I do not really dislike her, she just has nothing to offer as a character. She's still in the story only because of tsunshekels.

I'd like to see some other people supporting Touma more. Mikoto's scenes are repetitive and boring. Thor, Clones, Accel, Shiage, Umidori, Itsuwa, Misaki, Fiamma, Othinus, Leivinia, Kaori, Tatemiya, Gunha, Double Jesus, Kakine, Lessar, Mark Space, Kumokawa sisters, Fukiyose, Aisa and even goddamn Stiyl - they all are much more entertaining than Mikoto and have more interesting relationship with Touma. And most of them could use some more screen time.

Sorry, I can't stand Index. I attempted to read the LNs, I attempted to watch the anime. Absolutely terrible. On the other hand, I enjoy the Railgun manga and the parts of the Railgun anime that adapts it. The adaption of the Sisters Arc last year was really, really great, a hell of a lot better than any other Index related thing I have seen or read. I don't care if "Oh, but that was just an Index arc told differently" or whatever. I also don't care if Index is the true or main story and that a bunch of autists are proud and elitist over the fact that they have read a bunch of bad LNs.

They are the same story, written by the same person. Even the main characters of both series are somewhat similar. Not the same anon but I can explain. Touma is a faggot who chances along everything he is involved in. Meanwhile the Railgun series is more natural, is more contained, and has better tactical fights than Touma's fucking right hand punch after swallowing every bit of punishment he's not supposed to.
Oh and there's no Index. You also cannot say it's Misaka because me and my sisters hate Misaka so much in the Index anime, it was the Railgun anime that led us to understand who she was.

I always thought the "science" in this 'verse was much, much worse and that most people didn't notice this because of how better written the science characters were than the magic counterparts (at least in the early arcs).

To be fair, all the earlier magic arcs are all pretty bad, mediocre at best.

Battle Royale and Sisters in Railgun are pretty much the top tier science arcs. The other science arcs are a step below them.

The best arcs in the series are when both science and magic are involved, though.

It isn't as SOL or cute girls doing cute things, but there's plenty of humorous interactions between toma, index, style, vampirekiller chick, etc... just got the the start of the sisters arc; I also recognize quite a few 'cameo moments' from railgun in the index story

If Kamachi does one thing well, it's the fun interactions between characters. Angel Fall (the body swap arc) had a ton of great ones in the LN that were cut out for whatever reason. Including Kanzaki molesting Touma.

If Kamachi wrote the Railgun SoL for JC Staff, it would be way better.
