I also think that Hinata should have been more involved with the story on some level. It's nice that the underdog won her man, but a bit more prominence would have gone a long way. In the end, all she ever accomplished was "motivating her man one time" during the main story. Aside from the she was a sideline character whose crush was used as a running gag through out the manga.

For me, they only really needed to add 2 major scenes to Hinata's story and 1 minor one to salvage it. Would it be nice if she was involved in the whole eyehax bullshit and was there with Kaguya? I guess but Kaguya was stupid anyway so let's not even go there.

The minor one is to make that scene in the anime canon where she trains the Twin Lions with Neji in between the start of part2 and Pain. The 2 major ones is to have the bug search arc where she learns defensive 64 trigrams canon and to have her get up after tripping and reach Naruto to dual team heal him with Sakura using chakra points and shit.

Optional small stuff: have her be within eyesight of Naruto when the IT happens and Naruto calls out to her in desperation (Having him react mentally like a newtype to Hinata calling his name is nice and all but it's not really clear) and in the funeral scene, have him hold her hand instead of just standing by her side.

That way, her story goes like this:

1. She keeps looking at Naruto and letting Naruto copy her test (introduces her as a sort of weird girl with an interest in the guy)
2. Chuunin exam where she gives him the salve (showing more interest)
3. Neji fight where Naruto realizes she's been looking at him + has the same ninja code + impressed by her strength + swears on her blood (where Naruto's interest in her starts)
4. Proud failure speech (where she reveals her reasons for loving him while supporting him)
5. Search team (for some time together and Hinata development)
6. Start of Shippuden where she still holds interest in Naruto
7. Hard training with Neji so that the reveal of the twin lions against Pain holds meaning
8. Pain confession
9. Neji's death and the slap
10. Reaching Naruto before getting ITd
11. The Last where Naruto finally answers the confession

I disagree, it would have made Kaguya's appearance much more credible if throughout the series they had drawn parallels to her and Hinata.

Maybe Hinanta could have been integral to her revival such as being a "host body". It parallels with the whole Jinchuriki thing, not to mention that everyone for years has drawn Hinata with bunny attributes.

It had potential.

Considering the fact that Kishi didnt even plan to include Sasuke and Sakura in the series but rather focus on Hinata I really wonder what Naruto would have been like without the editors forcing him to take their ideas into account.
