It's hard to go for the direct approach since hikki, unlike hayama, has a strong bond with the girls he's associated with. She cannot easily get between that so the chances of her being rejected is almost 100, not to mention that yukino and yui would cockblock her every step of the way since he spends his time with them for most of the day.

This are just speculations though. Irohasu may have been going for him subconsciously, viewing him as a safety blanket that she does not want to lose.
