But it could have been so much more. I didn't even need to have been H, that always ends up shitty. It's odd that they went out of their way to get decent voice talent for something like this and then do so little.
That's the jrpg one right? I don't think the audio has but most of the art has, pic related.
Came to post that. Including the fun part.
I'll post this instead. It was good, but it should've been great. Fuck you, Toei.
That quote is probably the most fedoristic thing I've ever read.
Guilty Crown was fucking perfect, then it aired and the writing went to shit immediately.
In my book that's the second one after this
But is not as if OP was an actual animated version or something, it was a 2 minutes video. We are talking about wasted potential, if this or OP would have been actually animated it wouldn't be a waste
Hence this thread. I don't mind that it's non H because it could never mimic the look of the source material properly. But it's non H in the first place most likely because of the voice talent chosen, but then nobody says much and it's 6 fucking minutes.
Ergo Proxy felt like a lot of wasted potential to me. Really excellent beginning, then just kind of fell apart once they started traveling around, ending was rushed as fuck too and I felt insulted by the "fuck, we have to write an ending and haven't managed to cram in all this backstory yet so let's dump it in a silly quiz show format" episode. A shame because I was really hyped in the beginning and thought I was in for something great.
This is a valid answer too. Would have been a great show if they made it about twice as long and ditched the shitty movies.
Angel Beats is another good one though not to the extent of these first two.
Kinda curious, what do you feel didn't work about Bakemonogatari?
Fucking bitch slut useless MC ruining the show with her mary sue fuckery
It might not have lived up to its full potential, but I certainly wouldn't call Kyousougiga a waste.
Now this, on the other hand,
What a curveball that was, went in with low expectations and the first two episodes were pretty good. Then we started steamrolling through arcs and changing things around. Do they really want to get to Meikyuu so badly.
It was better than everyone expected it to be. You should know how hard it is to adapt a VN with multiple routes, especially when you only have 12 episodes to work with. And honestly, the VN wasn't exactly stellar.
Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi.
How did they fuck up it this badly after first three episodes, I don't know.
>Oh man I was do disappointed finishing that.
I still have it stalled at episode 8 or so since it broadcasted. I think if it was porn we all would have been more happy.
Most VN have multiple routes, this doesn't mean to do all of the routes. A better idea would've been to focus on Amane's and Makina's route, go through Angelic Howl, then to Meikyuu and ignore Rakuen.
Also didn't know it was only 12 episodes, thought it was 24.
MC was a piece of shit, but she was only the biggest piece of shit within an entire bucket of shit.
>DenYuuDen not mentioned.
Aww shit niggas what are you doing? Op asked for wasted potential and nobody called Wasted Potential: The Animation.
All you had to do was write a simple and enjoyable super robot show, Enokido. Instead we got this weird Star Driver/Eva amalgamation that was painfully uneventful.
Off the top of my head
All these shows had potential with their setting and characters to be something, and they fuck up royally
If only it wasn't so lewd and I could actually recommend it to my friends.
Hōkago no Pleiades / Wish upon the Pleiades.
New manga in Comic Rex (放課後のプレアデス prism palette原作：GAINAX 漫画：Anmi)
New key visual in http://sbr-gx.jp
Who wrooom wrooom here?
As usual, BONES makes a series with a few excellent episodes and themes, then fails to tie them into a cohesive rising action or plot.
If they cut apart Star Driver and CE, they may have one good series from the bits.
Come on, that's like the oposite of wasted potential. It was supposed to be Madoka 2: Mecha boogaloo but became Badass girl punches everything. Now if you meant S2 then I might agree with you.
G-Reco could have been Gundam: Five Star Stories instead of the sorry mess we have right now.
It's been a year and I'm still mad. Fuck.
Gundam SEED Destiny
The first dozen or so episodes were legit good, a nice modern rendition of Char's Counterattack (my favorite UC entry)
Then it took a massive downhill and never recover.
Man, I love this show. Writing fell to shit and there was the canceled, but Hozuki a best. Alcoholic law student with orange tights, what's not to love? And yandere pirate guy.
>watch SEED Destiny
>first few episodes think "wow, this is way better than shitty SEED"
>mfw the rest of the show
A bit of a weird example, but it's a shame that the designs and some concepts from the Fate prototype will likely never be used properly.
I'm not a fan of Otome stuff but I think the style and atmosphere, at least from the trailer and "spoilers" reminds me of the stuff Clamp was putting out like X.
right here, a year later it still makes me so mad to even give a single thought to that final scene
Phi Brain, shit was great on the first two season's
But went to utterly shit on third, Rook's dead could bee saved all, but
then iremember that is NHK educational.
Also: BOKUNO KAITO
>especially when you only have 12 episodes to work with
And that's the damn problem. It would have been really good had they just given it 24 episodes. Instead we get this incredibly stressed mess where there's no time for anything except dashing through the plot.
It truly had lovely characters.
Oh yeah the "puzzles killed my family" show. I watched it expecting maybe some entertaining puzzle solving where they used logic and reason. Instead they solve puzzles using Yu-Gi-Oh styled asspulls. In fact "Yu-Gi-Oh without card games" feels like a good description of it.
Pick like any Aniplex original title regardless of helper studio from the past 3 years or so and it'll probably work for the topic. Seriously I can't count the number of times I've gotten tricked by a decent sounding premise on paper, amazing staff, glitzy visuals and design style and the advertising and hype usually surrounding one of them only for the whole show to pretty much completely fall apart within like a month of it airing.
Considering the thread is already filled with example of Aniplex originals though I kind of rest my case
I still don't get how you fuck up fucking wizard lawyers
the first episode was so good but then it turned from decent to absolute shit
I love how even that part is filled with continuity QUALITY.
The train is constantly switching its direction for each cut, going forwards then backwards and keeps switching, making the cig spitting a feat of strength.
I'm still confused about that second half. Also fuck amnesia and fuck every writer that uses it.
True, but I wouldn't call Gargantua a bad anime. It just could have been better.
I'd give it a 6/10, maybe boosted to 7/10 during Ledo/Chamber moments because I got a huge kick out of Chamber logically explaining why it agreed with and recommended the genocide of the earth based squid monsters. He was a well written AI in a otherwise mediocre show.
Also, the girls in Gargantua are sex on legs. Shame about the bait and switch with the mecha in space angle.
The original last exile was fantastic, you crazy. Season 2 fam fam was pretty bad though.
gotta go with these guys, watching the first episode of Cross Ange pretty much tells you what you are watching. The fact he's Sunrise too just further tells me there are going to be a bunch of bullshit twists along the way too.
Honestly, the only direction Cross Ange can go is up. It would be hard to disappoint me from my already low opinion. Maybe if it's a boring trainwreck like S2 of VVV.
