Fuck suffering, this was awesome.
My heart hurts every time she wills herself into being the hero the group needs.
This anime will easily my AOTS or hell, even my AOTY if all the girls willing march to the final fight together not letting Yuna sacrifice herself alone. All that with the sound of a bittersweet battle like this for example http://youtu.be/1ucd1G4BPM0
Is this english what the hell
My heart hurts ever since I saw Tougou for the first time, and the pain gets stronger and stronger every next episode.
When I heard "Washii" this one I thought I'm going to die. I don't know if I'll survive to the end of this anime , but I just hope the characters somehow will. I don't remember when was the last time I cared so much about some fictional people in a work of fiction.
Then it wouldn't be mahou shoujo at all.
>Waaaaah why can't X type of anime be Y type of anime waaaaaah
Go watch some fucking Y type of anime then if that's what you want. Why do you have have this fixation on X having to turn into Y because you a retarded selfish whiny faggot? Fuck off already.
Finally, the original anime [Yuuki Yuuna is a hero] has started broadcasting.
Please pay attention to the characters' cuteness and their heroism.
I created this with the intention of not showing any male characters.
I think it's enjoying enough to see girls talking and doing other things with each other.
And yet another Yuki Yuna thread where people will talk and shitpost about all kinds of topics not related to Yuki Yuna. I fucking hate you all, go through a thousand mankais and get crippled and suffer forever.
I want too see a Mahou Shoujo that acknowledges that males can also use magic and utilise this.
Being content with the way things are is no way to progress anon. It's not about Y or X anime, it's about how great XY anime would be.
Well said, yamato damashi stronk
What show are you watching
So, what kind of ending can we expect? Will Yuna and the club turn against the Taisha and fight Shinju-sama? I can't see them just going along doing what Taisha says after the reveal, and I don't think their protests will go peacefully.
They will have a small questioning stage, I bet Shinju's intention are good, after all they keep making techonology to make the girl's life more bearable so in the end they will just strength together and take the burden into one final battle, they might die, but it will be a bittersweet end at most
So is the series truly an allegory for WW2 Japan fanaticism?
She's still in the game.
Speaking of, uh...what happens if you mankai in the game?
We all thought it was Togo being silly but it actually was serious business.
If anything, they get even more hax the more disabled they get. Just look at how Togo's warship whatever thing.
Sonoko must get a Gundam or something if she goes Mankai to compensate for her disabilities.
I think you are looking to deep into this, it's a problem with the industry at the moment. Romance tag is better than a Yuri tag. So males should be utilised here not only for gender equality and enhancing a show but also for the romance as well.
Worked for Sailor Moon.
>tfw when in-game Mankai is simply level up system
>tfw when you actually want to cripple them to buy more upgrades
Motherfucker I survived that weird-ass era at the turn of the century when every studio was obligated to shit out a Sailor Moon clone and the cast was 5 girls and one male love interest who only existed to be the love interest, and they were all awful.
Hell, Tuxedo Mask was fucking useless once the Sailor scouts got enough power ups.
There is no "enhancing' about it.
There was also the teacher. I cut the MC some slack here. He started from zero, decided he wanted to improve himself, and had his teacher working against him learning any offensive abilities.
>Sonoko must get a Gundam or something if she goes Mankai to compensate for her disabilities.
I hope we get to see that
when they have to fight her as the last boss before Shinju-sama
>Worked for Sailor Moon.
Hell no it did not.
The Usagi and Mamoru Melodrama Show sucks balls. People liked Sailor Moon because of the interactions and hijinks between the girls. Sailor Moon would be nothing without the anime making it what it what.
>Romance tag is better than a Yuri tag
>So males should be utilised here not only for gender equality and enhancing a show but also for the romance as well.
Cool opinions bro.
I like a well done romance as much as the guy next to me but there's a place and time for everything and romance such as that is not something that was planned or should be added to Yuki Yuna because otherwise it would be a completely different show.
Also, that "equality" and "enhancing" is bullshit because 99% of the time one of the genders will be completely useless.Tuxedo Mask in SM? COMPLETELY USELESS.
And this is without touching the love octagons that always plague this kind of situations which are just plain awful and total turn-offs.
That's too specific, you're better off hoping the author includes males in a female dominated genre. Nanoha and CCS are the only ones I can think off that have males magic users.
There are different types of memory corresponding to the events from your life and world-knowledge.
However, what probably happened is that she lost selectively the neurons in which the specific memories were stored, which different from actual brain damage(just like her legs are disabled but spine is ok, which is different from what actual wheelchair-bound people are coming through)
So, the cat fairy's name is Kasha, huh? Like that corpse stealing and eating youkai from Japanese mythology, whose name is made of kanji for 'burning wheel'. I wonder if it has some meaning.
Like Kasha eating Yuuna's lifeless body after she goes mankai too many times
This is why I said we need equality, a magical shoujo team that consists of girls and boys that are ALL useful and have their part to forward the plot. The romance is just a plus at that point.
What we see is this new revolution in the genre not the old stagnant stuff.
>yfw when Tougou gets her memories back and the ending is like pic related
Go to Japan and pitch them your marvelous and revolutionary idea that will surely sell millions then. Surely you'll have a better chance there than shitposting about your dreams on an anonymous western imageboard.
Gyuuki (牛鬼) literally means "demon ox"
I bet they would be annoying as fuck if they kept yapping with an annoying voice all the time. That they mostly are just there floating and being inoffensive is part of why they are so good.
Fuu: Infinite guilt because of what she got the team into
Itsuki: Muh dream
Karin: Infinite guilt because she's the only one who's not crippled
It's impossible to select a winner.
Fuu will blame herself for crippling all her friends
Itsuki will be crushed that she will never sing again
Karin will feel incredibly guilty that she is the only one not crippled (yet).
Is it thursday yet?
Itsuki, cause she's emotionally weakest and she won't be able to sing anymore. She'll freak out.
Fuu will be either guilt-ridden, or take "I haven't done anything wrong, it was for the greater good". Accordingly, she'll either sacrifice herself for her sister next battle, or tell her younger sister that Vertex killed their parents and she should calm down.
Karin will be conflicted so she'll charge in recklessly next battle and Mankai.
I think it's worse for Fu because on top of feeling responsible for getting them into that she still won't be able to muster the resolve to take everything on her shoulders like Yuuna does.
I don't know, Sonoko doesn't seem to be enjoying those memories too much.
Well I haven't watched SM, just new it had a male magician and was quietly highly regarded so I assumed it worked.
Now we don't need any of that love triangle BS it can all be a 1:1, now you are right it would be a different show and dynamic but you can't necessarily say it would be a bad one. Seeing Yuna together with a male character isn't the end of the world.
It almost worked to an extent in Madoka with Sayuka's case.
>Also, that "equality" and "enhancing" is bullshit because 99% of the time one of the genders will be completely useless.
Now you see this is what I was trying to address, equality as in both genders are important to the plot, it hasn't been successfully done yet and that's why we need a revolution in the genre to allow for this.
>Karin will be conflicted so she'll charge in recklessly next battle and Mankai.
I hope the girls can talk her out of that. That will definitely happen if they don't. I kind of doubt they will, since they will probably be too busy despairing over the new realizations.
It took them 7 episodes but I knew the suffering would come. You didn't fool me. Next episode seems full of more suffering. How many of you have dropped it already? I think I'll wait for Ultimate Yuki Yuna
>That's too specific, you're better off hoping the author includes males in a female dominated genre.
Pretty much this, and it would need to be done well, else you end up like Feezing if you half ass it.
"I betrayed no one! I killed them so that humanity can live!"
I think there are some valid comparisons to be made, but it seems different enough to stand on its own imo. At the least, it's pretty good on its own, however influenced by Madoka it may have been.
the problem is that when shows get popular, it's usually not because of the show itself but something related to the show. Like how we got 20 threads in one day of this shit but it was mostly shit flinging between normalfags and chuunifags.
same character designs as SAO, a lot of the costumes are the same as the ones from the fairy shit.
Honestly, it skirts closer to Nanoha in that it still delves into more conventional magical girl territory but the stakes are much higher, there's some fucked up shit going out in the corner of your eye, and the whole backing agency and infrastructure supporting the girls in question.
Will Yuna ever break down?
A-at least she can still grin
The costumes made sense, but I figured the character designs were more vividred operation.
>Yuna goes for one last manaki
>gains ultimate power
>defeats all vertex and Shinju-sama while she's at it
>world needs Shinju to survive
>Yuna becomes the new Shinju-sama and ends circle of viciousness
>that brief moment of hesitation before she makes up her mind to do anything and everything for her waifu
Yuna is too beautiful and strong for this show ;_;
It would be really upsetting.
This paste has been removed!
Yuna is optimist and cheerful genki pink done right. She's the real glue of the team and without her everything would fall apart. She knows shit is messed up but remains strong not for herself but the others. She's a truly admirable human being.
Yes, it has, if the focus of the show isn't magical girls, then it's just a normal fantasy setting.
And male characters using magic are still incredibly common, but they usually are side characters or villans.
They are all admirable human beings.
It is a requirement to be a sacrifice to Shinju. Literally. They have to be a pure maiden and a perfect lady or they cannot wield Shinju's power.
>mahou shoujos cant be guys
you'll never be ready for Mahou Shoujo Ore when it comes out
Some people are just nice. Not everyone needs a deep and complex backstory to justify why they are how they are.
Definitely don't agree here, I think it's because the show never made fatality that much of a big deal during their fight against the Vertex.
The battles were tough, but it's all shiny and pretty and shit, you never really felt like they were going to horribly get mutilated or eaten.
So the fact that Yuna can be so brave and positive despite it all don't seem off to me. Also as opposed to being some angel that everyone loves and cheers for, Yuna spends most of her screentime being dedicated to Togo and that's at least something that most people can easily understand and relate to.
Unlike Hibiki in Symphogear, who is super brave and positive despite seeing hundreds of people go poof in front of her.
>Muh Mary Sue
Go back to MAL or TV tropes if you are going to call any basic character a Sue. Its already retarded to use this out of fanfic, but it gets worse if the charcter in question is being called it for being simply heroic, specially because she show shows her efforts to keep the group together
But look at how she takes care of her sister and all the other things she does in the Hero club. And even if she didn't want revenge, she still has to pay the bills for her and her sister.
And it looks like she is going to have to face this next episode.
You have no be blind, dense or both to not notice how Yuna tries the hardest out of the whole group.
>Shit, I can't taste anything. Play it cool Yuna.
>Oh fuck, they are worried because I won't be able to taste this feast. Jokes on them, I enjoy the food texture now!
>They are shitting themselves because they are scared of going Mankai again. Okay, Yuna, you got this, yell like crazy to get them distracted and start the attack yourself so they have no time to think bad things.
>Fuck, fuck, now they don't wanna attack the core. Fuck it, I'll do it. Everything for my friends.
What we know about Yuuna
>She likes pressed flowers, kids, kittens, her friends, and especially Tougou
>She enjoys helping out other people
>She tries to stay positive as long as possible
>She can't get up in the morning
>She's doing karate
>She learned massage from her dad
>She get hungry easily
>She is not a really good student
>She is afraid of ghost to certain extend
Fair enough. But we have not been given enough information to tell what her other options were. Did she have other options that would allow her and her sister to remain together?
On the other hand, she has the kind of guilt that any combat leader has.
I guess Togo had it the best as far as "new" disabilities are concerned. Losing hearing in one ear can be very problematic in some situations, but for the most part, she'll be alright.
Shit, even some pro athletes have little to no hearing in one ear and they end up having successful careers.
What will she become now? Artist? Music producer?
Maybe, but all of the other characters do have explanations for them which is what makes Yuuna feel strange. We also never see any of her life outside of the club. She ostensibly has parents but they could just as easily not exist. We see Fuu and Itsuki together at home, Fuu acting as surrogate parent, even making up lies trying to protect Itsuki from the truth. We see Karin training and living alone, a ward of the state wholly devoted to the hero business. Tougou would be in the same camp as Yuuna but we learn a shitload about her in the LN.
We know Yuna lives next door to Togo and she spends most of her time with Togo anyway.
What else is there to know.
I guess technically we have not seen Yuna do anything during her own time.
>recently went on a backlog marathon
>went through 4 suffering shows in a row
>/a/ tells me yuyuyu is SoL madoka where nothing happens
>pick it up
>suffering is starting
>We also never see any of her life outside of the club.
Well, in the VN demo, she offten goes to and stays until late in Tougou's room or the other way around even when they have nothing to talk to each other.
Good to know someone else remembers this.
They already made them more than enough.
>"Even when we have nothing to talk about, just being together is fun."
I'm in love.
you don't need to have things in common for their to be love
>No more cakei
>No more festival takoyaki
>No more saying "Oishiii!" after enjoying some Udon
Killing the tastebuds is like killing the soul of a slice of life character, Yuuna is a stronger girl than most.
madoka rebellion, ga-rei zero, and I read punpun and bokurano
Having company is nice anon, but they at least should be doing something if they're not doing each other.
I can see Togo working on her website stuff or learning about nippon banzai. But what does Yuna even do while she's there? She doesn't seem to have a laptop, unless she's carrying manga in her bag.
If all she does is just sits there and looks at Togo, then it's pretty fucking gay.
>Romance tag is better than a Yuri tag.
Yeah, show me all those romance anime that did as good as Madoka, Love Live, K-On or GuP.
No one cares about romance. No one wants boring males in all girl shows. Not counting mainstream shonen trash adaptations all really successful anime in the last few years were all-girl.
I expected Madoka to be suffering, but I thought Ga-Rei Zero was some edgy action with lesbians and Punpun/Bokurano were going to be 'inspirational/life changing drama' like GTO.
Most of the times, a male in mahou shoujo is like being a female in a mecha show
They can contribute, but in the end the genre prevents them from being any more than just love interests
god I hate Happiness Charge Precure
>in the end the genre prevents them from being any more than just love interests
Will everyone except Yuna and Togo be irrelevant after this or next episode? Why can't we just have a nice ensemble cast?
>in the end the genre prevents them from being any more than just love interests
Just in the typical Gundumbshit formula they keep using for 3 decades.
Doesn't change the fact magical girls shows should be about girls.
That's not what I meant. In GTO, everyone ends up better off after overcoming the drama and hardships. In Bokurano, everyone ends up dead except the last guy who can't even live in his own world anymore let alone as a human.
Sunrise has a fair number of female-lead mecha shows too. Mai-HiME (going by Sunrise's reckoning, as it has a track in the [email protected] XENOGLOSSIA Sunrise mecha anime cover albums), XENOGLOSSIA itself, Sora Kake Girl, and Cross Ange right now.
It's exceptional. Read the manga, don't watch the anime, the director totally missed the fucking point. You can watch the OP though, it's genuinely great.
a better version of Evangelion, watch the anime and read the manga since they have different endings.
mecha since our board steals the meaning from 2ch, covers robots, tanks, ships and other vehicles.
She used her Pururut voice for Sonoko, it's so soothing.
Perhaps it wasn't obvious, but I'm not talking about female main characters..
I'm talking about being the typical token female character in male protagonist mecha show...
and I'm saying that being the token male in a magical girl show amounts you to the same treatment
There are exceptions. CCS did this right by making the seemingly token male as Sakura's rival.
but otherwise the token male is more often than not, just a shoddy tool to create love drama..
Someone earlier mentioned Mai-Hime. Well Tate from Mai Hime is an example of what I'm talking about.
the interesting thing about the anime and the manga is that the director had an argument with the author of the manga because he didn't like how it ended, "no magic solution to fix everything".
>The director of the animated version of Bokurano dislikes the original manga. From here on out, you can't expect the animated version to expand on what you might find appealing in the original. So, fans of the original, please do not watch the animated version from now on"
> a character whose voice does not fit all
I've rarely seen that happen with KanaHana. When she's not typecast, she does a pretty good job of fitting the role she's given. Especially the angry/deeper ones, she seems to have fun with those.
Reminds me of how the director of the Elfen Lied animu completely removed a central and important character who is literally the ones who gives the series it's name from the adaptation because she did not like her.
it's what is says.. a blog that blogs about NTR
That they end up mentioning HappinessCharge means that something has gone very wrong with the show.
hint: it's about Seiji Blue Lovely bullshit
At least GP is down the next corner.
I'd like for it to be a more light and hijinks focused ala Smile despite my deep hatred for that specific entry. I'm tired of plot in my Precure after all the crap Doki and HaCha attempted to do.
director and author clearly had different philosophies
this difference is pronounced during the the Yosuke arc
manga: my life is more than just my own.. the same applies to the enemy.. let's do this
anime: the world is a shithole.. I quit. kill me now -> ok maybe not, my mom still needs the world
>a male in mahou shoujo is like being a female in a mecha show
W-why? Why is this happening?
Mecha is called mecha for a reason.
>M e ch a
>M a ch e
>C + H = 3 + 8 = 12 = L
It's literally in the name. Just like with mahou female.
He shows up like two minutes later, relax.
How often did she mankai to get into this condition? Her last fights must have been black knight level.
Did she keep losing in-battle or did it happen all at once when they returned to RL?
Cause seriously, when Yuna said "See? I'm okay" this episode and then when they returned to real world and she wasn't anywhere I expected that they'll find her lying somewhere crippled
Plenty more stars in the sky
Of course. No more vertices, no more fighting. They will all recover with time, including Sumi's memory, and they will all have fun together.
The spoilers, from chapter 8.
The hero, Sonoko repeated Mankai and Sange more than 10 times and became unable to lead a normal life.
For that reason, as the trump card, the Taisha is managing her directly.
In regard to Washio Sumi, her only sacrifices to Shinju are the function of her legs and several years of memories.
Since she still can lead a normal life, she will be returned to the front once the Vertices appear again.
By performing a Shikoku, nationwide physical examination, many persons with high aptitude for being a hero were detected
After that, the following plans were decided
Washio Sumi is to be transfered and stationed to the place where the girl who has the highest aptitude in the whole nation lives.
Appropriately, Inubozaki Fuu who possesses a high aptitude will also be sent there as Taisha’s envoy.
Furthermore, the terminal that Minowa Gin used will be recycled.
A person who is fit for this terminal will be sent as powerful reinforcement.
>many persons with high aptitude for being a hero were detected
Just finished watching...
Baseless speculation time for Karin.
I think the reason she can't mankai has to do with her being a super special shrine maiden warrior thing. Either they specifically gimped her transformation app to prevent her from going mankai(and thus preserving her whole) or possibly
she's actually a manufactured person constructed from the previous offerings to the Shinju. Creating a 'perfect hero' is the Taisha's idea to prevent future girls from having to sacrifice themselves like this
There aren't even wishes in this series.
She doesn't have enough experience points. That's it. Notice how she joined in later than the other four, and thus was behind?
The pacing of the last four episodes had better be flawless, otherwise the whole show could be ruined.
>show not tell
>takes 8 episode to have "big reveal"
>characters acting completely out of character
>terrible Madoka clone
>people actually love it
>terrible Madoka clone
I don't feel bad for the characters in Madoka though. This in the other hand, all the girls have normal life and normal friendship only for it to be torn slowly by sacrificing one organ for every enemy they defeat.
Wrong thread, weaksauce is the other way.
WHO said so
I actually don't want anymore suffering. Few episodes ego I couldn't wait until someone dies(remember death flags?) but now I just want them to have their peace. For real.
We really are Bokurano now.
Don't worry, Mimori's yamato damashii will solve everything.
But he's right, Homura is the only one who is sympathetic. She was the only one I cared about. The rest...was only as relevant as they were to Homura's character.
Here, on the other hand, for the first time in my life I care about the entire cast and it's heart-wrecking.
Shame you'll most likely stay and keep being a whiny little bitch who does nothing but post shitty bait and shipost. We'd love if truly left.
Sayaka did get the bulk of it but I'd say the only truly underdeveloped character was Mami.
>Furthermore, the terminal that Minowa Gin used will be recycled.
>A person who is fit for this terminal will be sent as powerful reinforcement.
so karin is using gin's terminal?
tomorrow is going to be terrible since Okada is shifting the show into ending mode
We do, but discussing same things over and over again with a few anti-Rebellion retards makes you sub-consciously compromise and, over time, give in to their rhetoric.
Yeah, Mami had virtually no time at all. I would say that Kyouko left some to be desired, but I understand why they focused on other things instead.
If Madoka (the show) had more characterization, the pacing really would have suffered.
Does that include everyone who doesn't like it, or just the people who repeat the same arguments about plot-holes and whatnot?
I'd hate to be a retard for not liking something.
Unfortunately, you are
get well soon
everything will be fire
Her fairies are always running wild because she's so gifted
Yeah this. The medukas were only getting their own comeuppance. Even for Madoka she only became magical girl Jesus after a long bout of crying/indecisiveness and letting others die before her eyes.
So far the Yuyuyus are very selfless in comparison. Heck even the opening scene is of them doing their volunteer work for kids. Their only wish was to protect and serve their people. I don't really see this changing unless later it's revealed that pre-memory loss Togo murdered babies and kicked kittens or something.
Anyone get drakengard vibe when the ost plays here?
>Don't worry, I'll find a way. I'll work things out.
Hnnnng. Yuusha is best.
The fact that she's just as scared, but conquers her fear in order to maintain morale and look after her friends, kinda moves me a bit.
If the secondary faeries give new attacks, what are the primary faeries good for beyond meatshield?
Togo probably dislikes western everything.
White pig go home and so on.
It makes me sad. She gives and she gives and she gives, and her real thoughts and fears never come out. I worry about her.
After two episodes of subtle suffering, it's finally becoming obvious with the Mankai damage being implied to be permanent.
And I'm loving it every second.
You know it's gonna happen. Might as well steel yourself now.
Looks like with the current system, you get one free fairy, and one additional for each mankai. Karin got her fairy from Gin. Tougou started with three because she already went mankai twice (legs and memory, her ears gave her her fourth).
>This time instead of the whiny non-character sacrificing themselves it will be best girl.
I can't deal with this.
That doesn't even begin to describe this guy's hard on for making little girls suffer. Read Akame ga Kill chapter 23.5... all Takahiro.
How messed up does one have to be to write a chapter like that?
