Yeah, it becomes a bahijd style animation showreel with awesome visuals but no substance behind it.
I think there's a clash between the message and the animator who was obviously mainly excited to draw tits and gore while anno sits in an office next to it and ponders about how moe is dangerous and otaku are killing japan.

The message they were trying to send here is that no matter how hard you try and fight against the temptations of escapism and otaku culture, you'll be pulled back in. When he pulled out the mechas and robots, that was the MC deciding that he was going to conquer his problems, and after failing to do so he succumbed to the temptations of the girls again. The video ended up where it began, and even repeated itself in order to try and make sure the point got across. The video didn't offer advice or present us with a better solution, instead it was a warning to those who weren't already sucked in, and it was a fuck you to all the people out there who are already otakus.

The entire fucking point of this animator expo project is to give people the creative freedom to come up with their own shorts. So no, Anno has got no direct involvement in all the shorts so far. Hell, there's even a full staff list in English for each of the shorts.

First, they might have kept the first part going all throughout the video, and somehow made it so that the viewer would actually be a bit sick of all the fanservice by the end. Not an easy task obviously, but if they pulled it off it would have been damn impressive.

Second, these things always fail because nobody ever differentiates the supposed 'reality' (3D) from 'fiction' (2D).
