Tomoyo connects with Andou with a chemistry Hatoko feel she doesn't have. This fear is taken form most clearly in her lack of understanding for Andou's interests.

So when Andou is texting with Tomoyo and says "you wouldn't understand" it's all her fears of losing Andou being realized and she snaps. Her angry shouting at Andou isn't at actually at him, it's at herself. She's desperately pleading at something to change because she thinks that if there isn't a change, she's going to lose Andou.

Then she runs out because she realized she just shouted all that at Andou's face.

I've often wondered this myself.

I think when it comes down to it, it's simply a misunderstanding of what "You wouldn't understand" means to them.

To the MC, it is on one hand a straightforward statement; when applied to his chuuni, as the kidnapper elaborated to Hatoko, he does not want to be understood. That's the kind of thought he puts into "You wouldn't understand".

To Hatoko however, she starts to see it as a rejection of their friendship, because to her it's a natural consequence of her inability to understand him; hence she takes "You wouldn't understand" really hard because it hits her as a "Stop talking to me already/fuck off". And that coming from a childhood friend that has always been a huge part of her life, is pretty upsetting to say the least, and can be considered the primary reason and the catalyst for her outburst.


What I think doesn't matter:
- The fact that Hatoko doesn't understand his chuuni. She hadn't actually minded beforehand, and the only reason this comes up is because she assumed that he's going to reject their friendship due to her not understanding it.
- Whether Hatoko is being jealous. She clearly is, but I think she's more upset with the fact that he's growing distant, rather than the fact that he's chatting up Red. I haven't seen any indication that she's not happy with him simply hanging out with other girls.
- Whether Hatoko is a bitch. She's acting like a normal well-adjusted high school student by all accounts. Yes, having some insecurity and not being 100% rational, and bottling emotions inside is normal behaviour. Whether that makes her a bitch is up to the viewer. Personally I think it's fine.
- Whether MC is being an ass/dick. Well he was, that much is certain, but the mitigating factor is the fact that he was doing it inadvertently and had no reason to suspect as much, because nobody told him. Besides once he realized he felt pretty shitty about it, and is quite clearly eager to resolve the matter, so there's no need to get hung up over it.
