>see primarily flaws
>wow. I mean, this is okay, but I can't like this.
>watching other anime
>see that it is legitimately terrible
>holy shit. anime #1 was relatively very high quality
Does anyone else experience this? Is this all there is to anime? Will there ever be an anime equal to Lord of the Rings?
So you watched 2 anime?
Someone give this man a trophy.
no. We've all long since come to the conclusion that every anime is lower brow than any single piece of western media.
Yes, when I started watching anime 10 years ago I downloaded a broad array of shows, but it works both ways when you are new and don't have a reference point.
Some of the first shit I saw and liked turned out to be garbage while some stuff that I didn't like turned out to be really good.
>Some of the first shit I saw and liked turned out to be garbage
Out of curiosity, what are some examples of this, and can you explain why they were actually shit, and how you didn't initially notice?
>Is this all there is to anime?
Maybe you just don't like anime? I have no idea what your tastes are nor what series you've watched, so I can't make any calls really.
>Will there ever be an anime equal to Lord of the Rings?
Honestly, no, at least not in terms of worldbuilding and such. Generally anime are short series, so you can't build as large of a world. Long-running anime are typically shallow endless episodic shows or dragged-out shounen.
Adult Swim had some anime that, to me at that time in my life
Inuyashawas really vivid and exotic, as well as being actually quite dark. It was great. That's how I got into anime, ignoring DBZ and you gay, yo. So I can't say that anime just isn't for me. I liked IY so much that it basically ruined my social life, lol.
Yea. LotR is just on another level. George Martin tried to mimic that, but it's just not the same.
>I've completed around 20, dropped about twice that. Been on /a/ for about a year. 4chan for 3 years.
>I strive to be respectful of /a/'s pre existing culture.
Just being honest
>that bandwagon chain doe
Just a tip, OP, because you seem like a half-decent dude - /a/ doesn't do recommendation threads, which is basically what this is.
If you want to try to get into anime, google the millions of /a/ rec charts, and keep lurking until you find a series you like.
20 is nothing, One Piece alone would be worth 20 (assuming you watch the anime and not read the superior manga).
And if you're dropping more than you're watching when you've seen so few already, you need to stop having shit tastes or stop picking up shit you know you'll hate.
>stop picking up shit you'll know you'll hate
Since I started seriously watching anime about three years ago (also), I have always been very selective. But stuff like Claymore and Casshern Sins: I just can't be entertained by that. Even more adult stuff like LotGH is often something of a chore for me to get through.
I know, I know. It took me 40 episodes to figure out they were never going to develop the characters.
>Since I started seriously watching anime about three years ago (also)
>20 shows seen
Just fuck off you faggot, this board isn't here for your blogfuckery, go watch some fucking shows
and I hate to say it, patheticas they look for all jumping on that successively and immediately, they're right. I am a newfag.
But god damn it people. This five second attention span, mob mentality shit needs to fucking end. READ MORE. Fuck.
>Neither of us look good here
You're the only one who looks like shit here.
Why wouldn't we call out a newfag?
20 anime is fucking nothing, watch two decent seasons and you've got that already.
I wonder if Bateman has finished more than 20 anime
I wonder if he watched them dubbed
>You're the only one who looks like shit here.
I'm going to have to disagree with you buddy. This shameless bandwagoning:
is pretty pathetic. You're still just being butthurt about that.
But hey. In general, I don't discourage /a/ from being so hostile towards newfags. If you don't beat us up, the shitty ones are going to fuck up your board
>implying that hasn't already happened pic related
Just try to be a little less pathetic about it, and try not to enjoy it so desperately. You see what I'm saying?
