What app do you use for manga?
>>
Not that.
>>
>>116833621
I just pulled a random image off the internet. I'm mostly looking for something android tablet specific.
>>
Firefox.

Firefox + Greasemonkey with Webcomic Reader in minimalistic mode plus custom CSS + Batoto.
Also, bilinear > lanczos.
Also I don't feel the need to save manga in 99% of the cases.
>>
What crawler do you use for downloading manga?
>>
>>116833500
Gwenview.
>>
>>116833922
RSS + scanslators' site
>>
>>116833806
>bilinear > lanczos
That usually depends on the speed and the quality of the lanczos. And what you actually wanted.
>>
>>116833500
I use firefox +| batoto + kissmanga
>>
>>116833665

Except with very high quality scans, I find bilinear better, mostly because Lanczos often adds ringing. But I personally like the effect bilinear makes, so even in that case I prefer it it over Lanczos.
>>
>>116834288
Give me your reasons to laugh at this. Other than wanting to save manga, there's none if you have the proper tools and configuration.
>>
>>116834288
>mangas
>>
>>116834435
Not him, but simply page lag is massive deterrent. Waiting any fraction of a second for the page to switch, even with scripts is awful. I can still read faster than pages load and the sites have variable responsiveness. I doubt I could read half the amount of manga I could read on a desktop reader.
>>
>>116834565
Also, Kissmanga can't even fit spreads properly unless I write my own scripts.
>>

Mcomix is my favorite. Possibly one of the worst software mascots I've ever seen though.

I wrote it myself.

>>116834435
It's easier to manage manga on your own filesystem, and better/faster to read it with your own choice of manga-reading software, than to navigate through someone's shitty terrible website and reading it on that.

I associate online-reading with slowness, time consuming, inconvenience, pain, looking at the shitty interface of a website rather than the manga, etc.

You're in /a/ of all places to be complaining about autism.

Using anything that isn't Manga Rock on your superior Nexus 7 tablet is just plain wrong.
>>
Is there a way to download the ebooks from nico nico, the program that was on the /a/nonscans page sadly is outdated to the new DRM stuff that nico nico added.
>>
Is there still no comic reader/image viewer that scales images in linear colorspace?
>>
>>116834565
I currently load 25 pages in advance with Webcomic Reader, because except at weekends I am in a place where my connection is basically the same as what you'd have in the middle of Sahara. With that, even with my extremely shitty connection, I just wait a little (much less than what you'd wait for the download) and then there's no lag.

Well, for h-manga, which sometimes is "read" at a much more quick pace, there could be problems.

>>116834682
>faster to read it with your own choice of manga-reading software
>slowness, time consuming,
Not if you preload with a script. And if you have a decent Internet connection, this is an even more inexistent problem.

>navigate through someone's shitty terrible website
>looking at the shitty interface of a website rather than the manga
I apply CSS on Batoto to only see a black background with the actual image, the link to the main page with info about the manga and the links to other chapters and pages of the manga (and these links only show when on hover), I even remove the scollbar, and of course I enter in fullscreen mode. I zoom until I consider appropiate (Firefox uses bilinear which is fine).
>>
>>116835469
>I just wait a little
If it's perceivable, that's what, maybe half a second. Multiple that by 6,000 which is a pretty casual day reading manga and that's about an hour wasted.
>>
>>116835645
I download lots of manga in the background. No one said I downloaded everything either.
>>
>>116835409
Is it that big of an issue? They all look (pretty much) the same.

>>116835078
The battery life on it is atrocious. I'll probably get an e Reader soon to replace my Nexus.
>>
>>116835469
The time consuming and inconvenience part mainly comes from ever having to go to their web site in the first place, and navigate through it to read your manga.

Right now I can simply open mcomix, and either select from my bookmarks, or drag/drop a directory or archive full of manga from my file manager into it, everything is fast, no bullshit, and that's the way I like it. People like to do everything through their web browser now on websites, but I don't like that, whatever I can do locally in a superior way I will gladly do.

No matter what you're never getting a website to be more convenient or faster than opening up software on your desktop and reading from manga on your own filesystem.

>>116835645
Half a second is a huge amount of time to wait. The latency isn't even what bothers me most about online reading though.
>>
>>116835824
>Is it that big of an issue? They all look (pretty much) the same.
Just look at the pattern on the ground.
>>
>>116835645
Between page and page the lag is zero. ONLY when you start reading a manga there's some lag.

No seriously, I don't feel like explaining you in detail, but the lag isn't a problem, trust me. I can easily have the shittiest connection in /a/.
>>
>>116835920
Oh, I was looking at the traffic sign. Damn, that looks terrible. How is that the "correct" version?
>>
>>116835867
But you had to download all that manga, and navigate through a website to do that.
>>
>>116835994
It was scaled in linear colorspace with ImageMagick.
convert itoshi_no_karin_006_12.png -colorspace RGB -resize x1080 -colorspace sRGB good.png
>>
>>116835920
It looks like there's a lot of moire in the first place though.

>>116836021
Not if you're scraping. Some even autodownload.
>>
Picasa
>>
>>116835824
You must keep it on full brightness then. Either that or you must have some other apps running or maybe a wireless signal being sent out. Mine is kept on Auto bright and will last me 2, if not, 3 days.
>>
>>116834565
good enough for me, can I just torrent them like anime, or are there specific sites?
>>
>>116836066
>It looks like there's a lot of moire in the first place though.
Sure, but you should blame the scanlator for that. Your image viewer should scale the image correctly no matter how fucked up the original image is.
>>
>>116835961
I used to read on dial up speed and I live halfway across the world. I think I know what shit internet is.
>>
>>116836021
The script I wrote automatically checks for updates to manga I want, and downloads them for me from batoto, I don't even have to think. If I want a new series that's as easy as finding it on batoto, entering one command in a terminal, and then having to do nothing but wait (I could start reading it shortly after though, before it's fully finished downloading).
>>
>>116836179
Not when on second glance I would prefer the improper scalings.
>>
>>116835645
Also, those 6000 would be opening 6000 different manga a day (note "manga", no chapter/volume...).
>>
>>116836140
Even with the brightness on auto and reducing it further with Screen Filter, I can still only get maybe half a day of reading shit, even when the main thing being displayed is white-on-black text.

I do have Wifi on though, that's probably an issue. Still a terrible product that takes an eternity to charge (and has a terrible charging port as well).
>>
>>116836243
6000 pages. I drag multiple files on at once.
>>
Is there a good app for a Windows 8 tablets or should I just stick with Honeyview?

Also how do you make the little directional menu on Honeyview disappear while reading? It gets in the way sometimes.
>>
>>116835824
>>116835078
Is the battery really bad? I kinda want one
>>
>>116836189
Just in case, when I said the lag isn't a problem I meant the lag isn't a problem if you have things configured as I have them.
>>
>>116836315
>takes an eternity to charge
That is the only real issue that I have seen with it (Why not just charge it before going to bed?) but I wouldn't go as far as to call it a terrible product. Definitely one of the better Smart tablets out on the market.
>>
>>116836331
Yeah, forgot adding "page" in the "chapter/volume" part that I wrote. But what I mean is that if you read four or five different manga a day, then you would have to wait four or five times, not 6000.
>>
>>116836350
I'm >>116835824. You can use battery life estimators, but they're never right for mine. I find it usually has a half a day to a day of life.

>>116836435
Because I have a busy life, Anon. Not everyone is a Neet like yourself.
>>
>>116836510
>Why not just charge it before going to bed?
>Because I have a busy life,

What, you don't sleep or something? How are you too busy to take 5 seconds to plug it in before bed if you need to? That's laziness and lack of discipline, not being too busy.
>>
>>116836674
>Because I have a busy life, Anon. Not everyone is a Neet like yourself.

Don't listen to>>116836510 he's apparently too cool for us as he actually has a life while he browses /a/ not charging his electronics or sleeping during his busy schedule.
The Nexus 7 does have a problem with battery life in regards to comparing it to other contending tablets on the market, yet saying it only lasts half a day is a hyperbole. I can get a good 2-3 days of not only reading, but also surfing and media browsing before I need to charge again. This of course only works if you don't have multiple apps running in the background.
Also, you can shit post on /a/, and who wouldn't want to do that on the go?

What's a good app for the iPad that hosts images like manga panels? I used to just use folders in the images app the tablet comes with but the Apple updated the software and jumbled the order of the images around out of alphabetical order and now I can't read them that way.

I use CDisplayEx too. I think what you say is during the installation, and that's because some antivirus detect some offering there as malware, but just don't select them and that's all.

And yes, it's been some time since the last update. I hope he comes back soon. There are some bugs I posted on the forum which need solution already.
