Manga vs Anime - Which do you prefer?

I always read/watch the source material first.

mango, then watch anime fight scenes. also, fuck light novels.

I stick with the source material when possible then follow any adaptations to see how it turns out or in the case of manga/ln -> anime, seeing everyone moving around and voiced.

Manga.

Too many things affecting the production of the anime. QUALITY, fillers, minor and major rewrites, differences in pacing, etc. Usually it's just the music I enjoy, and I can listen to it while reading the manga. Sometimes the anime turns out well but it's so rare I tend not to bother.

I prefer manga mostly cause of the selection and the art looks better.
There are some good Animes as well but if i had to choose one i would go Manga.

I don't think that I or anyone can say that one is always better than the other, but personally, I'm both a musicfag and a seiyuufag, so in the case that the manga and anime for a particular series are more or less equally good, I may prefer the anime.

But this still isn't a simple question. There are tons of times when the anime and manga are quite different, making one better than the other. And even in cases where they both follow the same story, the animation staff and director can potentially greatly improve or kill a series's appeal.

Manga first. If the Anime is a travesty or is shit I don't watch it. As it should be. Adaptations have the potential to be better than the source material but it's almost never the case.

I have this problem, too. I also have the problem of only reading the words and not looking at the scenes or just glancing at them, so I miss a lot of what's going on.

manga is a god tier medium to convey a story and theme that normally wouldn't get greenlit from anime studio, anime is too strict with budgeting and censoring.
Most manga adaptation anime are look like shit,(shounen battle anime are literally "talk no jutsu")

Kagaku na Yatsura's OVA was... well, not so funny like the manga is. Sometimes, the source is better than the adaptation.

Not that anon but for example, In the One Piece anime, Luffy's punches don't seem to have much impact, cuz they show it stretching forward at a digital rate instead of flying forward quickly like a punch does. It's less the anime and the fact that it's just...not WELL animated some times for the sake of padding and budget.

I like manga more because I can read things at my own pace, I find it easier than pausing the anime everytime.
