In said flashback chapter the anon mentioned, the couple expecting a child explicitly asked the name of the flower to a traveler. The traveler replied with "The flower is called "XXXXX". The father replied with "XXXXX? What a pretty name! If I have a daughter, I shall call her XXXXX in hopes that she will be as beautiful as that flower!"

Note that the novel explicitly makes it a point that it had five X's whenever that flower was mentioned. Also, we have no idea of the language used in Kino's world.

We have characters named Hermes, Ti, Nimya, Elias and Sarah running around. They are hardly restricted to Japanese names. Not to mention how Keichi Sigsawa is a massive westaboo so some english wordplay isn't beyond him.
