You couldn't be more wrong. As someone who plays both MTG and Yugioh, Yugioh is a MUCH more punishing game. It's actually pretty brutal in tournament play. It is needlessly complex though, even the most experienced players will sometimes be confused as to how something plays out. Can't tell you how often I've had to pause a dual to look up specific rulings for specific cards/chains.

My advice is to be incredibly conservative with everything while you're still starting out.

Personal HP (pink powder) should be saved for castle crushers (the order vs order events) if you're in an order, and if not you can save them for raid events.

HP (purple powder) is the primary currency in the game. You can buy it directly from Mobage for a shitty price at about $.25 per HP, but HP can also be bought from other players if you can find a reliable seller for about $.15 (if youre lucky) to about $.19 per HP. a cheap way to make HP as a beginner is to sell all devil princesses and devil queens you get at market price.

Personal cure water (pink fat vial) is used for restoring your stamina and for questing events (the upcoming event is a questing event). Cure water is largely considered easier to come by than pHP because you use less of it (3 events that use hp vs 1 that uses cw)

those are the main items you should know about, I advise finding cheap sr bases (ssr ff) that you're interested in and building or buying cheap ones of those, after events the SR for that event almost always sells for about 1 hp per base.

In the past base SRs right when the Bazaar was introduced used to cost 100+ HPs, and Legends were nearly in the 4 digit numbers.

That's why Cygames is introducing new cards every event now. New SRs, SSRs, and Legends. Back then, when the game first started compared to now; most 1st gen SSRs like Date, Gawain, Arthur, Satan, were great with 21 to 22k attack.

Now, most current SRs do more as 6-11s then they do as 8-15s. Plus the addition of 5th form evolutions were select cards, and superevolutions (bumping the limit from 10 skill to 14/14) has changed things again dramatically.

Game used to have a balance of ATK/DEF boosts, event skills for damaging enemy castle and castle walls, bonus points to HW victories, hit to specific realm cards (hit to foe Man/God/Demon attack or def cards).

They made it much more simplistic but the Bazaar is the biggest issue. It absolutely bent over and ass fucked the economy and player market.

A Lord Arthur/Zeus/Lucifer maxed out even as 4/7s doing over 30k attack used to cost like 1400-2500 HP, now they are a third of that.

I'm in a top 90 Order. Our we use Line to keep in touch, organize, and plan out our Order battles in CC and HW (latter is basically removed entirely from the game for better or worse). Our OL has us basically save all HPs and Personal HPs for CC. Since it usually cycles 3 to 4 raid/quest events to 1 CW, and if you don't spend all your stuff on stupid shit or go all out pointlessly in events with random fuckers from different teams in different brigades, you can easily build up several hundred personals.

Last event before the previous one right before CC, I got three Infernal Smiths from the box exchanges. Sure was cash.
