No. The concert in Anime Expo years ago was a test run to see if they could sell concert tickets. This CA and NY expos are to see if they can sell figures. They clearly underestimated the demand for anime figures in the States.

Expect to see an American GSC branch opening soon, or an even friendlier GSC online store.

Also, don't forget that Japan just invested 4billion yen into their "Cool Japan" initiative to expand Anime into the entire world.
