Is there any reason to buy physical manga in the digital age?
>>
Not having to turn on/operate an electric device every time you want to read something.

Pick it up, flip pages, enjoy.
>>
Supporting the original creator.
>>
>>114766680
>>114766710
These, and collection purposes.
Personally though I just find paper easier on the eyes when I'm reading for a long time.
>>
>bone is a manga

Some people like collecting things, and like the feel of physical material as opposed to spending extra time sitting at the computer

It also directly supports the creator
>>

Eyestrain and love.
>>
There are things that you can't download. And buying digital manga is retarded.
>>
>>114767758
>buying digital manga

Are you fucking retarded? No one does that, it's actually more work to find a way to buy it digitally than to find it for free
>>
>>114766564
Was there ever a reason to collect stamps in the age of post offices?
>>
>>114766680
Having to get up and search for something you want to read when you most likely have a tablet/phone with in arms reach. Keep wasting your money weeaboo.
>>
>>114767848
>more work to find a way to buy it digitally

You would need to be a literal retard if you can't figure out how to buy digital manga.
>>
>>114766763
>easier on eyes
what is e-reader ?
>>
>>114767857
bad analogy
>>
>>114768805
You collect stamps for the sake of collecting them.
You buy them from the post office if you actually want to send a letter.

You collect physical manga for the sake of collecting them
You buy (or pirate) them digitally if you actually want to read them.

Collection hobby vs. practical use.

Fairly straight-forward.
>>
>>114766564
Collecting things (series, in this case) i like.
I enjoy it and that's enough of a reason.
Bonus points if they're not avaible digitally.
>>
>>114768991
I buy physical manga to read them.
>>
Collecting, Supporting the creator, reading something on paper feels better.

Anon why aren't you reading paper?

I can be cheap and some of the manga I've read but would buy isn't published in english like One Punch Man, Punpun, and part 4 and above of JoJo

Sense of ownership.
Getting "value" for money.

You have 3000 scanlated tanks - impresses nobody.
You have 300 legally purchased ebooks - might impress a few people who have less money than you.
You have 30 carefuly selected paper tanks - Get the nod of approval of just about anyone relevant.
>>
>>114771100
>Sense of ownership
Please, ownership means nothing. I've torn dozens and dozens of books just to scan them.
I don't care if I own them, I care if have scans of them. Because digital copies are easier to store, hide and read.

What is it that you are reading that you are absolutely terrified of people seeing?

If its porn, well, that's your problem but I understand.

If it isn't you've either got fucked up acquaintances or fucked up perceptions.
>>
Because it's easier to put some books away in a box and pull them out again 10 years later than to maintain a hard drive or trust the servers your shit is hosted on will be around forever. The digital age the entertainment industry is forcing down our throats is a distraction meant to make you feel good about giving up literal ownership of any and all forms of media.
>>

>Everyone is a samefag, no way more than one person will ever find fault with something with me.

There is, and you know that if you weren't new as fuck. You don't capitalize you punctuate greentext unless they're direct quotes. And look, now you're linking the post twice, more newfag mistakes.
>>
>>114772378
>You don't capitalize you punctuate greentext unless they're direct quotes.

Lol you must go fucking crazy all the time on here if you get angry everytime somebody greentexts things without following your rulebook.

Oh fuck, the irony. You just keep proving how new you are.
Just end yourself.
>>
>>114769491
> why paper is better.
This man knows.

> collecting
On the other hand, the idea of collecting mass produced objects seems a bit - what could I say ? - like a contradiction.
Objects in general are a weight against your own liberty: they took place, they're heavy.

Maybe read in paper form, then give/sell/ exchange would be the better.
But I am lazy and avaricious, so I only use my pc.
>>
>>114772378
Ah, so it's autism AND paranoia.

Carry on, sir.
>>
>>114772050
You're a loser and not ashamed, we got it.
Oddly enough it does matter what other people think of you. Because the world does not revolve around you, despite the fact your mom told you you're a special snowflake.

Why can't we have nice things ?
>>
>>114772636
Why are you continually trying to point fingers at other people rather than just answer the question.

What is it that you have that you are so terrified of other people seeing?

This is an anonymous board, you don't have to act so afraid/defensive when people ask you a question like this.
>>
>>114772744
I did answer the question, moron.
And stop double spacing everything like you're writing a highschool paper.
>>
>>114768209
What?
>>
>>114772744
What would be the worst manga to have on your shelves?
What kind of manga could the more freak out normafags ?
>>
>>114771608
In the 1960s and 1970s future we were meant to live off of nutrient pills and regular food would serve no purpose any more.

I will gladly pay for reading manga. Paying authors, editors and translators to entertain me.
However, I want a receipt of having paid, a token of gratitude, something I can hold in my goddamn hands. Files and "achievements" on obscure websites don't do shit for me.
>>
>>114768758
E-readers tend to either be too small or too expensive. Also, often times much of the quality is lost due to bad scans, where as the original has as highest possible quality for the respected series as it will get.
>>
>>114772811
>This is an anonymous board, you don't have to act so afraid/defensive when people ask you a question like this.

Also, I think I'd rather keep the double spacing.

Helps keep things clear and if other people's formatting bothers you so much you've got problems.
>>
>>114772930
You're quoting you're self, and as I said. I already answered the question. You're just too stupid to read it, or understand it.
And it doesn't keep anything more clear, it only makes you look stupid.
>>
>>114773009
>You're quoting you're self,
I know, I'm doing so to remind you that you don't need to act so afraid/defensive on an anonymous image board.
>And it doesn't keep anything more clear, it only makes you look stupid.

see

>if other people's formatting bothers you so much you've got problems.
>>
>>114773009
>you're self
Speaking of making yourself look stupid, you probably shouldn't get angry at everyone for not doing everything the way you want them to, while also fucking up yourself.
>>
>>114773110
God damn you're retarded.
The point is it was already answered, and said it answer it again.
And it has nothing to with how you "format" your posts. It has to do with you being new, and looking stupid. It's not up for personal debate.
>>114773207
>not knowing /a/ memes
So pathetic.
>>
>>114768702
It's not that I can't figure it out, it's a pain in the ass.

or

>doing it like a fucking human being

There's literally no reason to pay for manga unless you want a physical copy.

extremely niche, doujin-tier manga should stay physical for comiket events.

>>
I love manga first and foremost for the beauty of the art. I want razor-sharp lines and perfectly smooth tones. Scans are usually too low-res to maintain the integrity of this aesthetic. I fucking hate muddy tones crisscrossed with moiré patterns. Until digital versions are routinely scanned at 600dpi, and tablets/readers support that pixel-density, print still has vastly superior image quality.
>>
>>114774773
The community are disgusting, even more than mal and online reader forums

I find physical manga pretty uncomfortable to read (in certain positions, like if I'm lying in bed it gets caught on my shirt) and inconvenient. I can read ~4 volumes in a work day on my light as fuck ereader, but I couldn't carry 4 volumes around with me.

I'd like to collect some of my favourite series though. It's more for display purposes, and I guess to make sure they're perfectly done copies as opposed to scans of possibly questionable quality.

>>114776291

>>
>>114775629
Scans and screens will never be 1:1, though. Ironically a high-res scan on a low-res screen makes moiré.
>>
It feels good to have the original, physical book in your personal library. Like any other collection related hobby.
>>
>>114777229
Often true, though it depends on the downsampling algorithm. Not saying 1:1 600dpi will actually happen — only that this is what it would take to rival high-quality print.
