It's also not just about one character or set of characters. After about a volume or so, the story follows someone else, then jumps to some other people too, circling back to the original pair again from time to time. It was weird at first, but I kind of like it -- different for manga to do this kind of thing.

My manga I picked up this month. I always wanted to buy the Rosario+Vampire manga, and I feel like now's the time since the series ended recently. Also, I have never read it before so I'll be going in this series fresh. I plan to buy the rest of R+V very soon. cant wait for that, and for the last volume to be released. I also heard great things about "Seven Deadly Sins" and "Seraph of the End" so I decided to get those as well.

Japanese products usually have more of the price going to the publisher while US products have a lot of the price going to retailers. It's just the way distribution works in Japan and the US.
But Japanese publishers are famous for embezzling and treating their employees worse than garbage so you probably aren't actually supporting mangaka no matter which version you buy.

I recently bought my first mango aswell. I used to read it on my tablet, but I just felt like buying something for once.
Now reading something on my tablet just doesn't feel right anymore. People might argue it's better because the tablet offers light, but it's not the same for me. Maybe I'm just being pretentious, but I don't really care.
And reading on computer is just cancer so don't even bother.

I know that they have some questionable translations in Monster Musume. They changed Polt's name to Port and in D-Frag they translate "senpai" as "sempai". So pasically from what I've seen the worst they have done is take a stance on the age old R vs L and Sen vs Sem in Japanese translation

Not that anon, but here in Indonesia the manga volumes are really that thin. Same amount of content, just thinner (and worse) paper, I think. The 'normal' thickness of manga sold in English-speaking countries can usually fit 3 or 4 Indonesia-size volumes. It's weird, even Malaysia or Singapore has 'normal' thickness of volumes.
