To add to my post, 20th Century Boys is fucking Anno "The Master" tier in that it has so much time spent on what it was like in the past of the kids when you just don't give a shit and it isn't important. It's a lot of hubbub about nothing. "Cool" visuals/art/ideas but the ending sucked, ESP girl was random and it was about some fucking kid being butthurt because people liked his comics and not him since he had a superiority complex and was a big bitch.

Magically he and others gained the power to act out the fantasy of the kid he envied just because.

A lot of the "badass" shit was just bad. Kenji should have just been shot. ESP girl should have just been shot. Plot armor saves them, not even any powers.

Kenji was so fucking contrived when he became "cool." Cliche poses with dialog the equivalent of "Pshh, nothing personal kid." "You don't interrupt a man's guitar playing." [generic downcast looks that hides his eyes to show he's serious] followed by [goofy to salvage realism]

I liked 20CB better than Monster but the quality of the series was too variable. It started great then it went to shit, specially early-mid post time skip then it only started to get good again almost in the end
