Is it late enough to have a GA thread?
Played through the first game again. Still had fun with it
Let's see how far this thread can go without me bumping with CG's
I chose not to watch the anime many years ago and I forgot to check out the games when they were translating recently.
All I know about Galaxy Angel stems from those newgrounds.com flashes and Sago-Jou's futa doujinshi.
What am I missing out on?
I consider anime one of the funniest series to be ever made. Apparently it was supposed to be based off the games that actually had plot but miscommunication just had the anime studio making it a comedy and it pulled it off greatly. The Rune anime with the second generation of girls did pretty bad.
The games are a light-hearted but plot focused series of games that span 6 games. They are all direct sequels so massive amounts of character moments.
A lot. I haven't played that newgrounds game in years, but if I remember right the angels aren't like their anime/game counterparts. Normad is still a wisecracking stuffed animal though. Pic semi-related.
The anime came first, so I doubt they'd release a game adaptation before the actual games were even released. Should this actually be true though, that would be hilarious.
GA is indeed one of the funniest shows out there.
They had the game in development and the anime to follow it I believe. Then a little delay in the games made the anime studio with no source material to actually work with other than general character traits
Why is Rune so charmless?
What's with the washed-out colors?
I thought they'd fix the animation errors for the DVDs but it still looks fairly crap.
Should that be true, makes me wonder what a Galaxy Angel anime would have been like had they gone with adapting the games.
Delicious cel animation blowing up loli-Death Star. It would be problematic if they had to choose a route, unless they just go with Milfie, which is what I'd expect them to do.
You know, I've been thinking about actually watching Rune just to see it, but I know all that lies ahead is disappointment compared to the games.
First three games are, the other 3 on PS2 are not
I think the Rune production crew had the same dilemma of choosing either adapting the games or just following the predecessor's formula.
Of course, we all know how that turned out.
Play the games, the Rune crew is as lovable
I'm not that much of a masochist. Have some old dvd-rip fansubs from a dead sub group instead.
Going through these makes me remember how bad the dub was, holy shit.
Never forget Ranpha's navel and Forte's bust
One day we will all become a part of Milfeulle and gain eternal life.
The Grand Cross episode is easily one of my favorites. There's too many to choose from though to have an absolute favorite, but the episode with the literal cliffhanger is one of my top episodes as well. Pic related was very clever also.
Holy shit I knew that sounded familiar. They actually released the song on one of the music CDs. I was listening to that yesterday going through that 10gb music collection.
Has anyone ever played the GBA Galaxy Angel game? I was considering getting a copy. Apparently it's like Mario Party or something, so I wouldn't really have to worry about lack of moonspeak like a dialogue heavy game.
The Rune anime was directed by the genius that gave us masterpieces such as
(successful stylish niche game): THE (shittily adapted) ANIMATION
Devil Survivor 2
Persona 4 Golden
Suprised that he didn't fuck up Carnival Phantasm
I was certain you were just making this shit up, but wow, it all makes sense now.
I've got like one old gif from some thread long ago.
Most of them will work on MPC if you're lazy. The .ape ones with a .cue can be split with a cue splitter. Those are lossless so you should be able to convert them to whatever.
There's 5 archives that are password protected also. No one has the fucking passwords anymore I bet.
>Angel Scramble Junction
>Bruno Red Sun
>Angel Rock and Roll
All these passwords.
Masatomo Ota did the op for phantasm and rune.
Makoto Uezu did the screenplay/writing for Sunred, as well as Phantasm and Jinrui, which were undoubtedly good. However not even Uezu can save anyone when Seiji Kishi wants a game adaption his way, barring phantasm for some reason.
Yeah, it really sucks, but at least there's only 5 we can't get at. More likely than not, a couple of the tracks on those CDs were included with other CDs anyway, like with the Galaxy Angel Best Albums.
The real pain in the ass is how messy the whole collection is organized. Not that I don't appreciate whoever uploaded the whole thing in the first place. Whoever they are, they've done god's work.
I came here to express my disgust.
I went through the first VN expecting things. I got absolutely fucking nothing. It's like taking cute girls doing cute things, watering it down with gallons and gallons of... water, then disposing of the mix and just putting water in a jar and presenting it to the reader.
Of course those were simpler times, but god damnit. I'd be okay if it were from the early-mid 90s, but it isn't.
That fledgling voice cast, though.
Looking at the thread's pics, it looks like the show may be passable at least. Maybe I'll check it out someday.
I don't think so, Anon. Things don't happen just for knowing the characters.
I mean, sure, it may help, but in my eyes it could at most turn a once-cent game into a two-cent one. Jesus Christ, so generic. It doesn't even deserve a name. Just call it "moe in space."
Not saying it's actively off-putting, but the lack of appeal left me disconcerted.
What I'm saying is that the game is definitely not for someone new to the series. Familiarizing yourself with the characters in the anime outright tell you that the series is rarely serious and is usually about screwing around.
It's definitely generic but it's really for the fans.
Miyuki Sawashiro is indeed a great VA
At least he directed Seto no Hanayome. Good enough for me.
GA II had the first cast show up a lot and they handled each chapter like an episode from an anime where they played the game's opening and select ending song everytime a chapter started and ended.
GA II brought around 2 more songs for everybody.
This being my favorite
>Sawashiro in Milky Holmes
I never knew she was in this show. The fact that I haven't watched Milky Holmes yet has been bugging me with all the good things I hear about it. Sawashiro is just icing on the cake now.
No, he's really right. The plot is fairly standard, but the characters and their interactions make the game amazing because it's so comfy. Especially if you see the differences in their personalities between the show and games. Also, Moonlit Lovers and Eternal Lovers in my opinion are better in terms of individual routes for the most part. Especially Mint's in Eternal.
If you're not into comfy shows, you probably won't really care for that though.
I really enjoyed her singing in Telepath TV and Ohisamairo no Merry-Go-Round as well.
Chitose's route ties for the best in Eternal
What's the tattoo of anon?
Milky Holmes is like Digi Charat on steroids. In other words, there aren't any serious moments/episodes like in GA and the episodic plots are pretty crazy, but as a comedy it's far superior.
I still wonder how J.C Staff managed to pull off a show like this while doing three other series (Bakuman, Otome Youkai Zakuro and Index II) during the same season.
All that Lester rustling in Chitose's route was great. I didn't expect that. It's a little sad that she didn't get as much time for lovey dovey, but she really has some great moments.
I noticed. A friend showed me an episode or two, and I think one of them had the blonde dude with the nipples in it. I lost my shit when they parodied Golgo13.
Some of those were actually really good. I think the only one I didn't like was the one near the end of AA. But the Forte centric ones all throughout are great.
I liked the one where Volcott became the proxy for Tact and was Milfeulle's boyfriend and they grew up together.
Sawashiro Miyuki's lifetime role achievment is Mint.
She did a few good roles after that, and is fairly popular with her now crispy voice, but she can't ever get back to that pitch again.
If anything, the final game came out in 2009. While she doesn't have that many speaking roles, she was there and did the voice just fine.
Still half a decade ago though
>The fact that I haven't watched Milky Holmes yet has been bugging me with all the good things I hear about it.
It's the closest thing GA has to a spiritual successor with the fact that it's:
>about cute girls doing dumb things
>a comedy solely because their games were delayed until after the anime's premiere
>has Miyuki Sawashiro (Mint), Yukari Tamura (Ranpha) and Ryoko Shintani (Milfeulle)
I'm speaking about her anime play.
That was mindblowing, even though I loved her in the game and she showed some of those royal yet ridiculously high pitched voice too, but what she did in the anime starting the second season is my favorite ever voice acting.
>but she can't ever get back to that pitch again.
Are you talking specifically for Mint, or just into the higher pitch of voices? Because her Broccoli (Puchiko) in Neptunia sounds just like Her Puchiko from Di Gi Charat to me, and her voice in that PyururikuPyururiku Milky Holmes clip sounded the same too. Or maybe I just need to listen a little closer?
I think that she just has a very large range of voices.
Leave it to the VA of Volcott to pull this off so well
I'm glad Miyuki Sawashiro is still doing great in the industry alongside Ryouko Shintani and Yukari Tamura but I wish we got to see the other half of the Angel Wing
Cause Forte's voice was balling
She was adorable
Never before has such a huge disparity exist between anime personality and game personality
So, What of the games should I play?
I'm playing the first one.
Also, I just rediscovered some art from the artbooks
Basically, I'm playing the First game and I was pleasantly surprised at the first real challenge the game has to offer.
>Surrounded by enemies, Objective is to get at designated point.
>Flagship almost wrecked.
>Forte and Happy Trigger Strike Bursting alot of shit.
Now there another Galaxy Angel update that adds a new Girl and a Sequel and I'm wondering whether to download it or not.
Well of course you should, they're direct sequels.
I just played that mission and I agree, that's one of the few challenging missions in the first game. Eternal Lovers (3rd game) adds a few more in there
2-4 missions in the entire series are at least tougher than most
I would watch the shit out of this
>Flagship almost wrecked.
You send Ranpha to intercept the furthest enemies and Forte to back her up, Milfuelle and Mint to the nearer party. Vanilla goes wherever's she's needed.
The Emblem Frames should be closer to destruction than your flagship should ever be.
You know what's strange?
In the manga adaptation, the Hell Hounds wrecked the Angel Wing every fight.
Their introductory dialogue is different too
In the game it goes
>Some shit about Camus' name being beautiful like a wind blowing space
>Milfie goes, I don't think there's wind in space
>We're the Hell Hounds and while today we're here to say hello, tomorrow we'll escort you to hell
I know what I'm doing this weekend,
I have to hunt down the scans for the 3 artbooks
I underestimated how fast those new destroyers, ones those were gone. It was simply the focus of destroying any nearby enemies.
Do the sequels have more challenges? I love it.
In the mission he's referring to, I think it's the highspeed frigates Sherry has around
There's no bonuses for cleared game data, that stuff is in the second series.
You get to choose which Angel you ended up with at the beginning of the sequels
Allow pic related to show you the hardest mission in the entire series did to the flagship.
It's in the 3rd game
What are those on her head? Fin Funnels? Rocket Hair Clips?
So Official Artbook 1 was found pretty easily enough. Then the regular artbook on the first game was pretty easy to find.
Angel II and Angel III be might as well be bought online. Individual scans exist, but I'm an all or nothing sort of person when it comes to this
I'll say this in advance
Thanks for the thread anons. It's fucking 5:30 in the morning and I should be asleep but I'd do anything to freely talk about the series with you all.
Have Mint driving
