Why don't you just move to Japan to be close to your waifu, /a/? It's better than in our Chinese cartoons.
Doesn't matter where you are, you're still going to be a dimension away.
>not crossing dimensions to be with your waifu
While Tokyo is fucking great (visited a couple weeks ago, metro is a miracle of the universe and so is all the cheap gourmet street food), the language barrier makes you feel like an out of place little shit after a while. Learn Japanese before living there or you're gonna have a bad time.
I moved to Japan last year. What a pain in the ass that was.
Not including the annoying immigration stuff it took me like 3 months to get a job, settle in a place and get adjusted to the vastly different area. Finding an apartment in Japan is a nightmare when you're a foreigner. It took me ages to find a place of my own, I had to stay with my friend for the longest time.
Japanese landlords are racist as fuck, I finally found a good place in a good neighborhood for a good price but it was a struggle. Also if you've never been to Japan before and you're not super proficient in the language, you will be confused as fuck. When I moved there I was fairly good at Japanese but I never actually spoke to people in Japanese before.
Learning the language and having to use to regularly and survive with it are entirely different things. Yeah it's rough when you're first going there, would not suggest unless you have a nice chunk of savings or some buddies to help you get adjusted.
That said now that I'm settled down I'm having a great time here and I will never go back to America ever, the barrier to entry is steep.
>Japanese culture is the best
Spoken as a uncultured weeb.
Traditional jap art is Interesting, but not as varied and as rich as western tradition
Too few good directors to compete with Continetal europe or the anglo-sphere.
Sure. The best, i guess.
>implying that changes the fact that it's superior
Reminder that every weeb actually believes this outside /a/
I don't see a Nisekoi thread up and I don't want to make one just for one question, so why does Marika still wear her old school uniform? Is it because the other one looks like shit? I could understand that.
Far superior, enjoy your Bieber.
Art in the west has been a joke for 200 years.
Film all around the world sucks.
Again, with America. I never said I was comparing it to America or modern popular music. I was comparing the cultural traditions of both. That's what culture means when referring to them. Popular music is irrelevant here.
You don't read, so shut up.
>Far superior, enjoy your Bieber.
>listening to popular music anywhere
>thinking vocaloid crap is superior to bieber anyway
>Art in the west has been a joke for 200 years.
Yeah, you don't read.
>being this uncultured
>Film all around the world sucks.
>talking about culture, yet being this uncultured
Literature, art, music, and film. No wonder you're so uncultured.
No not really. The slut level is definitely decreased significantly in Japan though but they're still there. You won't really find Japanese women dressed in barely anything and acting like whores in the open like the states. You can find sluts if you go to specific places though. Japan in general is very quiet and reserved and respectful society. Schoolgirls here are not as trashy as in the states, but only publicly.
Most of the girls I've ever seen have been quiet and nice and respectful. Not really moe like in my Chinese cartoons though.
I'd love to live on the Japanese countryside, don't really like big cities.
Thing is, who's going to let a foreigner with no skills live in their country? Especially in Japan.
Immigration policies seem pretty strict and I'm not academically succesful so my chances are pretty slim.
Not native English either so teaching English is pretty much out of the question.
>but it is rarely based on anything.
Not really. Everything is based on something, especially in music. All modern day avant stems from the german modernist in the SVS from the first half of the 20th century. Show me a link and I'll point you to the right directions.
Not really. I'm an avant-garde composer and that period if probably the shittiest ever. I take some influences from drone ambient, drum n' bass, black metal and Chinese folk music, for example, but I wouldn't say that my music is based on any of those.
>I take some influences from drone ambient, drum n' bass, black metal and Chinese folk music
Then you're not avant. You're probably an experiment metal musician, doing some atmospheric shit with lost of reverb and distortion and calling it avant.
>and that period if probably the shittiest ever
>calling yourself avant
I get stared at from time to time. I'm 6'4" and as White as they come, I stand out like a sore thumb among the Japanese. It can be a little uncomfortable at times when I'm on the train going to work and have like a bunch of people looking at me like I'm a fucking alien. Luckily it doesn't happen that often.
On the flip side I also get girls smiling at me all the time, too bad I'm too shy to talk to them.
You could probably get away with hiding among the crowd if you're just an average dude.
You'd look suspicious as fuck. You could get away with just the mask or the sunglasses but both looks odd.
Sadly I don't. The only placed I ventured outside of the U.S. is Canada.
Fucking this. I only see this kind of shit on /a/ and /jp/. Not that these threads should exist either, but still. I don't see how Japan could possibly be worse than most of the shitholes on this planet, at least for someone who spends most of this time indoors. I'd say it's top 10 or something.
From what I understand, Japanese people don't like other Asian cultures at all. I don't think Filipinos are popular at all in Japan, I think pretty much every other Asians are hated as a whole.

How bad are jobs in Japan? Are you really expected to be practically a robot who comes in at exactly 9am, leaves at exactly 6pm and always wears the exact kind of suit for your position in the company? What about vacation time?
But Japanese culture is absolutely abhorrent. Every time "muh nationalism" or "muh respect" get brought up in anime I want to puke.
Well those kinds of jobs exist everywhere, but I'm asking if that's the case with all jobs in Japan or if you can get a flexible-worktime one as a web developer, for instance.
Here, I know people who go to work at noon and leave about half past eight. I've even heard of ones who arrive in the evening and leave at like 2am.
We IT people can get pretty strange, actually.
>I get stared at from time to time. I'm 6'4" and as White as they come, I stand out like a sore thumb among the Japanese.
>Luckily it doesn't happen that often.
Do you live in Tokyo or something? Length-wise, I'm pretty much the same, but when I went to Hokkaido a while back it got to the point where people got out of their homes to stare at me. I shit you not.
I want to visit Japan but as a NEET, I don't think that'll ever happen.
I just want to see the Kyoani studios in person.
Japan hates everywhere that isn't America, Germany, England, Canada(?), or France.
They're about the same as anywhere else. It's definitely different in that the Japanese take working much much more serious than any American I've ever seen. You definitely don't want to be late or fuck around, you are punished for every discretion and they will make you remember it. Vacation time is about the same but a lot of guys just don't bother with them and keep working. I've taken short vacations with no issues though.
I would say it's definitely more 'soulless' and robotic just because of how serious the environment can be.
>and the wa isn't ? that's ''ha'' learn hiragana you little shit
I do. I honestly don't get stared at that often, maybe the folks here are just too busy to stare all the time but yeah.
>people got out of their homes to stare at me
That's insane. I can imagine how shit that feels.
uwaii! watash keiki daiski~
>you will never go to comiket to get those doujins yourself that don't get scanned
>Even if you one day move to Japan you will have missed out on Japanese school life and will never experience what it's like to be a Japanese schoolgirl doing Japanese schoolthings
Why are we even alive
If we kill ourselves maybe we get reincarnated as Japanese girls?
>Art in the west has been a joke for 200 years.
>Film all around the world sucks
If you're an anime/manga fan, or you like Japanese videos games and electronics or collecting figures and stuff, it's pretty amazing. It really is that awesome if you're like me and you're coming from America where you can barely find any of that crap. I can't go there too often though because I want to buy a bunch of shit every time I go.
